I'm sorry I never got more involved with this guild, it had a wonderful feel to it, and I had been looking forward to RPing more. Unfortunately I'd put all my eggs into another guild which has also died, but if you require hands on deck, PM me, I have basic crew experience and enjoy the challenge of digging up!

I always comeback to the guild after the annoucements, but often things are quiet and I driiiifffttt away. As for gaia i am on practically everyday. (I have it as a pinned tab on firefox) I keep up with my rps but it is harder to make rps (easier to have a set storyline than write an open world) So i am hoping someone will start a new rp, when i browse the forums.

And for not being around as often, I do really apologize. T.T

I'm new to the guild, but I'm well experienced so If you need me to lend a hand I'll give it my best shot smile

I admit I'm one of the few who are guilty of inactivity due to several personal reasons, one of which is a time-consuming job-hunting that started shortly after I joined the guild. For that, I apologize.

I'll be happy to assist in any way I can... although I'm currently still hunting for a job so I'm not sure I can be much help.

You can help by getting active in the guild again, start a roleplay, join one, be social, enigmatic, and charismatic yardy yar. But the experience you described is how I want people to feel about this guild again.

Lynna Valin

Heh, right, "seems"... Now's your chance to be popular. New beginning and all that.

Got any tutoring skills? A guy named Grimmvard is barking at a ghost up a dead tree. He needs a tutor. Get your friends in.

Toxic Yumi

You joined while we were writhing about I see, well I don't want that to happen again.

noracerberus14

You posted a lot? Why not post some more! We can be active, even if I have to set up a Chatterbox-esque subforum for people to gab away in.

Nightwind-Dragon

Why not lead by example? Why don't I put a few of my RP ideas out there and strike them up?

Well, because I'm nervous for one, and never ran an RP bigger than two people including myself for two....so maybe I should toss a roleplay out there and to hell with the consequences.

Hishiro Nakamura

Unfortunately the Academy function is simply not feasible without high activity both within the members and active crew, of which we have neither. It requires structure and organisation as well as people with exceptional skills who can teach said skills and also have the skills to teach.

The current focus is on tutoring and assistance. We still want people to learn in this guild, but an unstructured, less formal format will help me to discover those who would make the best teachers/crew for running the Academy if it becomes a function again.

I don't want it to go away, but it will be on a lengthy hiatus.

FaeryFae

The lack of tutors is most disturbing. I plan on finding a way to recruiting some, or possibly dredging some up from our 12,000 members to fix this problem. In the meantime you've got me, who can act as a tutor.

Just keep in mind that I'm also frankensteining a guild, so I might be a little slow.

muodoka

You are free to make any roleplays you want in the main forum of the guild, you can disregard the "how to make a roleplay" rules for now as they are under review. Simply strike one up and get your friends to join.

You can also store your characters in the Character Profiles and Development using any format you like. And RP ideas in the Setting and Story Development subforum.

vampireluvr97

Well, why not become a tutor? I find the best people to teach are usually the ones who have been through the thick of it themselves, plus I'm looking for tutors and such.

AceWildcard

The best way to make a roleplay not die is to hound the creator about it. A good GM can find a way to trim the fat and keep your character and start recruiting more for the roleplay no sweat.

I plan on having a system set up like we had in the past where I advertise active roleplays that are looking for members in the Gaia forums, and the same system can be used to jumpstart failing roleplays.

EmpyreanFlight

Hey, an old academy students, how's things?

BegrudginglyGood

Guilds are like roleplays on Gaia, great and active one month and dead and drowning the next. What was this other guild about?

angelic_takiko

No need to apologise. You can come up with a roleplay yourself, but I am hoping that roleplays will be made and people will start joining them. I'm getting the idea that a lot of people left this guild due to all the inactive roleplays and slow-death roleplays that were about.

I have only less than a year of experience in role-playing. Is that even enough for tutoring qualification? Any additional writing experience I got from writing fan fictions, and that's just, well... sweatdrop

I'm glad to see all of you popping out of the woodwork!

It makes me warm inside knowing the difference one good announcement can make, so hopefully you are all following the thread, and if you aren't I quoted you so you'll get a notice for that and come back anyway heheh.

Anywho.

I feel I need to give you guys something to talk about/do. So here it goes.

Current Stance on Crew Recruitment

This is subject to change, so don't be disheartened.

Due to my past experience with the guild it'll be a bit hard for me to recruit just anyone into the "lofty" position of being crew, which comes with the responsibility of...being crew!

To sum it up; I became active in a time when the crew was a ruling "elite" of a buncha guys who only roleplayed amongst each other and just kinda let the guild fall by the wayside. Then they were all very impressed by a woman and her certain roleplay so she got upped to crew, and immediately set out on a plan on getting everything active, and meanwhile the other guys did little.

So I came in on her behest to tip the scales in her favour and long story-short, the guild underwent a coup and several drastic changes were made.

This is were the idea of the Academy came from.

But due to crew inactivity at the time, the first attempt flopped, the Summer Event Fiasco came to be, and the remaining crew members burned out and fell out. Leaving us with a bit of a wreck.

This wreck was prematurely salvaged and a new Academy session was started using undependable resources (no offense to the parties involved) and the wreck caught fire.

We're currently standing on the ashes.

I tell you this because this is the sort of thing I want to avoid in the recruitment of a new crew...I can't have a ruling "elite" full of people who are exclusionist to the point of detriment, and I can't have a meandering crew who simply don't want/know what to do...

And finally, I can't have a crew that simply doesn't have the time to perform their duties.

As a result, the best way to become crew is to become social, be active in the guild; tutor, run a roleplay, join roleplays, talk, enjoy yourself and enjoy others. The far more amicable and and active you are, the more you'll be noticed.

Now, at the time, I'm a bit desperate for help, so no hurt feelings or pointing fingers if suddenly someone becomes crew without there being much time for someone to prove themselves. This is the situation I'm in, I'm trying to handle it for you guys, cause in the end, it's for you, if I was doing this for me I'd probably just start a dance party thread, carry it to page limit, then start another one. endlessly, until the guild was nothing but these dance party threads, making this guild the equivalent to a madman's scribblings on the wall of an asylum....

That was dark.

Current Focus

I want tutors and roleplays out of you guys.

The main forum is open to whatever roleplays you guys want to make, and shamelessy, shamlessly, recruit for them. I am going to make a GUILD RECRUITMENT THREAD for us and I'll be more than happy to tell them you guys are making roleplays that need to be filled with their sweet little souls.

I'll also be happy to tell the world that you're looking for a tutor, or are a tutor looking for a...tutoree?

But feel free to advertise that as well, just not in the main forum, we have a subforum for that, and do note that it is outdated, so no one there is really there.

Watervoir being the exception, in fact, she's the guild VIP. She was with me through most of the incidents and is only not a VC or Crew through her own volition, and I don't begrudge her at all for that. But she is an incredibly friendly person and as such, approachable.

So to sum it up;

Want an active guild? Get active!

I'll do what I can to facilitate that, and when we have a good enough groove going, i'll join/make a roleplay or two eh?

as always, I'm taking suggestions and ideas, anything you want to voice, know works, have tried in the past, know doesn't work. Anything, just talk to me, it's lonely at the top.

If you can write well, you can tutor people in the more technical parts of writing, and if you cam up with enough good OC's, maybe you can tutor in character building?

Writing, good writing, is the basis of roleplaying. Being able to create worlds and characters and move them about in ways that make sense and are believable to the setting they're in is tantamount to roleplaying.

Hey look I was mentioned. o:

It's nice to see the interest in having the guild up and running again. From the responses, it looks like it might be worth setting up some tutorship program.

I am always around, looking for new and interesting things.

I have several role plays in mind and while both have gone inactive due to players unexpectedly no longer posting, both can be revived with a few core players.

I joined this guild... Hell, in 2007 I think, it's been too long now, I don't even remember; in any event, I can also bring back my greatest success within the guild; A fully functional Dungeons & Dragons campaign (adaptation). So, if the interest is there, please PM me, as I, like many other creators, I'm sure, invest a great deal of time and effort when designing these things : )

It was my attempt at creating a military guild, the old one I was in died and its members dwindled, so I tried my hand at simplifying the guild down into a single roleplay world. I didn't get very far into the creating process because we managed to recruit a bit and improve activity in the original guild.

I can show you what I had done so far, it might show coding and layout experience and just basic knowledge of forums and moving/deleting threads and all of that.

I've also helped train a very beginners in writing, but I have a long way to go myself before I could say I was an expert. English, although I think I can write up a good post, was probably one of my worst subjects at school.
