Would we be able to put in prizes something that isn't gold. Like certain items (bundles for example) or art? XD

I don't think I've ever seen art offered up as a prize in an art contest.. Maybe special, smaller contests could use art as prizes?
Items would be good if they were popular items.

Yeah, I agree with Tang. If the item is a bundle, or a good set of item to use as a prize, that should be fine. :]

I have thoughts and questions.
Are entrant fees standard now? I know it wasn't back in the day when I used to enter contests for b/c shops or when sabin and kamiki did huge contests.
100k per character is a lot of gold to ask from people. From what I recall it's normal for all characters in a shop to be drawable and people can offer individual prizes for certain chars if they have the gold/ items to spare. That's how I remember it and how we set up the eden project one ages ago. Artists will be more inclined to draw characters who also have specific prizes but they won't also be denied the chance to draw a char they think is interesting but doesn't count because their owner couldn't afford to pay to include them.
We'll do it however the majority agrees but I literally cannot afford to be a part of the contest with those kinds of fees. I'll still help set up and judge though if required ^-^ I could probably dig up the old shell from that one and adjust it for Magesc to save time.

Actually Umbra if you could fish it up we could take points from that and tweak it to Magesc! I just kind of threw that up there but obviously it will be changed to whatever the majority wants to do haha. :3 but having that as a starting point will be great! smile

100k sounds more than reasonable to me with a money-back guarantee if you receive no art. With art prices the way they are these days (and inflation what it is, making gold as a whole worth waaaay less than it used to be), that's practically a steal - especially if you end up getting the character drawn more than once. But I will admit I'm a person with gold on my hands and means to earn gold if I needed more, and I know not everyone has the gold to throw around. To me, though, 100k sounds absolutely reasonable.
I feel like it would also be a great way to add to the reward pot, so to speak. But that's my two cents.
Edit: Additionally, if you didn't have that kind of gold on hand, it's something you could earn just by playing booty grab or one of the other gold-offering games on the site - not the fastest way to get it, I'll admit, but my point is I feel like 100k is within reach of practically everyone if they wanted to shoot for it.

Funding wise we had done an auction prior, the proceeds of which all went into funding the art contest. Plus the mule had a store of gold in general shop funds saved up. Magesc could always do a special custom auction to help procure funds or maybe the money from selling holiday grams could go into ours. It's easier to determine how many categories we can have once we have a better idea of how much money we can allocate to each section. Like we could have best trad and best digital plus separate into best obliv, ord, hybrid etc categories like eden did for mammals and plants but we may not have the funds to do that so we may need more concise categories. I do think it's important to have everyone fill out a form for their chars like we had people do with their edens. It makes things more organized and is helpful to artists.

Yeah, that's awesome thanks.
The major difference is how much more art is worth these days haha. 5 years ago those were awesome prizes. Nowadays, we would need at least like 30 mil or more to be able to distribute across them all to fund the prizes.

* Shrugs* I can't afford 500k or potentially more and the time I'd spend grinding for something like that could be better put to use being productive within the shop. I understand your guy's point though so if that's what people want I'm happy to just fiddle with stuff in the background and whatnot.

Would we be able to contribute extra prizes towards our own character? I'd love to be able to add incentives to get people to draw Rowan.

I'm fine with putting forward 100k per character. Though, I've only got the one for now, so I'm not trying to earn gold for a handful of participants. ^w^' But since we've got so much warning time, I also don't think there's any need to grind for it all in one day. So there's plenty of time to earn it!

Yes, if you have specific items you would like to contribute, send them in whenever and we will make sure to make a special case for each individual character who wants to put forth a specific set amount of gold or items towards it. :3
Whoo! I am totally fine with there being an entry fee off 100k/character. I mean, you'll get it back if your character isn't drawn...
but I don't know if we should do it that way or just leave it open to DRAW ANYTHING YOU WANT lol. I've never held an art contest...but I'm super excited to see how this turns out. :3

As someone who usually has less than 100k on her at any time, I wold rather not require people to pay to enter into the contest. Or at least a lesser amount.

I like the idea of being able to add incentives to get our own characters drawn more. And I think 100k per character is fair. I think maybe we could also have a pot if people want to donate more than the 100k to pay for those that don't have it?

I could put forth a few nice items as prizes and do a separate art auction in the future to raise gold prize funds so to encourage art for people who may not be able to spare 100k but have more than 1 character. I've been here for 7 years and only until recently I always had gold down in the 50k or less range, so I already know not all fancy avatars have a load of pure too.
I also literally can't quest anymore right now, all the bought sdplus boxes have been used up or bought by those who are going to use them... until they re-release them I am questing for the impossible. And rather than sit on what would now need to be 300mill, I decided to just spend my gold. sweatdrop
