Rin slowly turned her attention on Melvin with a sleepy pout. She nodded her head carefully. She needed help here Melvin. "Is it like... casual or?..."

He moved over to look around in his dresser. "I'd pick a outfit for both. Dress in casual so we can walk around, but we can change into nice outfits when we go out to eat. It's still morning there, so unless you want to have fancy scrambled eggs, I'd just be comfortable." He told her, and then looked at what nice shirts he still had left. Typically his shirts were dress-up casual and were of course clean due to his own nature and wearing sweaters. He only had about a few dress shirts though, and the best one had been destroyed when he had to go on the mission on the ship that then sank.
"This place really does a number on your wardrobe. I wonder how some of the better dressed hunters do it without wasting a fortune. Have you seen that guy named Simon? He wears suits." He looked back at his open dresser. He wished he could be that posh.

Rin quietly lamented the loss of her dress while staring at the piles of clothing before suddenly deciding to eenie meenie miney moe in the end, her finger falling on a decent number in a camouflage green with tight black denims and then the second go round landing on a rather loud dress for which she couldn't recall acquiring. In her sleep addled mind though, she was sure this would do and offered the dress to Melvin to pack.

Melvin took the clothes and smiled at the dress. He always like seeing Rin in anything other than pants, and he folded them neatly in hopes they wouldn't wrinkle too badly in his bag before looking at his own clothes. He picked his best button up shirt, which was a palish blue, and a pair of slacks. As for casual wear he could wear now, he paused. It probably would be too warm for a sweater, and as he glanced at the t-shirts he owned, few he wore unless he wore a sweater under it, he decided those were too casual. Not to mention his own feeling about his neck marking.
He picked out a nice polo t-shirt and a pair of jeans and started to get dressed. "We can have breakfast when we get there and some good coffee at one of those cafes you always hear people yammering about. I've never been overseas once before I got here. I hope we don't stick out too much." At least they could blend in the crowd.

Rin gave a massssiiiive decadent stretch before grabbing her own towels. She gave Melvin an abrupt smack on the rear while he was distracted before vanishing in the hall with a sleepy cackle. Soon they would be in an entirely new country. This was certainly a first for her. It was exciting and somehow overwhelming all at once.

Distracted, he quickly stood straight at the unexpected spank and looked over as Rin left the room. Lips pressed thin, he rubbed his backside before getting dressed. When Rin returned, he would have had their bag packed, the bed made (with a fresh set of sheets), and the room tidied up.
Melvin made sure to run through a mental checklist, looking to make sure he had his fake ID in his wallet, and continued to look around to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything.

Rin returned fresh and clean and changed into her casual clothes. Her hair was still wet but not dripping as it rested against her shoulders and back. She seemed quite a bit more awake already, "Lead the way."

Shouldering his backpack, he grabbed their coats and then locked his room before leading the way to the portal. It felt strange at times to go to places not just to go out on a mission or just to go shopping for things you needed. Those usually felt like errands, but errands that allowed you to eat out and maybe catch a movie. Still, they had been alone. He hadn't gone out on leave with anyone before aside from the one time near Christmas with Rin and Rep. In the grand scope of his time there, he hadn't really spent time with anyone aside from on the island doing some form of training or research. Thinking about it just seemed rather depressing, and he walked a bit more closely to Rin as he thought about it for probably the millionth time since that terrible party.
When prompted by the tech, he asked for London, and without a word, he opened the portal up. He went through first. Even though he would usually tell ladies to go first, portals always had a sense of danger to them that he now felt, and he just wanted to be sure it was safe on the other side.
Entering in the other world. The world of normal people, he stood at a dead end behind a building. A car was parked nearby, and he could hear the noises of cars, people, and just the life of a big city around him. It was jarring, but welcomed. He took a breath of fresh air and waited for Rin to appear.

It didn't take long for Rin to step out behind him in the first outfit she had chosen. She looked a bit uncertain on the other side. It's been a long time since she was among normal. Real. Humans. With normal real human tasks in mind. "What did you want to do first?" Her attention shifted to Melvin.

It was a light cool here, and felt like the beginning of spring. What season was it here? Time just passed at Deus to the point that while he entered data and dates, they didn't feel like they had any meaning. People rarely did anything for the holidays, and nothing really changed in terms of weather on the island.
Holding their coats in his other hand, he reached out and took Rin's own. "How about something to eat for breakfast? Nice coffee for once." He offered, and started to lead her away from the alleyway into the main sidewalk. Cars spend down the road, people shuffled and talk, and felt a bit shocked at just how many people not in coats their were.
"Wow. It's been a while." He admitted, breathing out. "First place to smell great we can go into and hope they speak English. If not, maybe we can do some hand waving."

Rin allowed him her arm gladly, for once just wanting to relax and not worry anymore. "That sounds nice, maybe they even have fancy coffees with weird names." She chuckled softly, "Seriously though, I need to wake up and get this body going for a busy day and that may just be what it needs."
A smirk crept across her lips at Melvn, "They should all speak english though you silly git. Lead the way."

"Hey, I don't know. I've never been overseas. I've barely been out of my own state when I was back home." They did have a field trip once, not to mention competitions, but aside from that, he had stayed in state all his life. Deus was one of the biggest moves in his life, and now they were always traveling. Not enjoying it, but always traveling. Sometimes he wondered if any places they went to were actually on the map or recognized by the normal world as actually being a place that existed. They would probably all laugh if he said he lived in the Bermuda Triangle on a death island.
Leading the way down the walk, he felt a bit strange but not in a bad way. It had been a long time since he walked down a sidewalk on a normal, cool day, holding a girl's hand. "Been a while since I've been on a date." He admitted. The other girls hadn't been dates, but more -short pickups where holding hands was pretty pointless when you were slipping in a bed.
He squeezed her hand a bit more tightly.
He looked around, looking at the shops and noticing pubs and various stores open, people entering and existing with the DING of a bell on doors. The sky was clear, bright blue, with some clouds, which was nice considering the fog back on the island that blocked out the Sun.
After two blocks, Melvin spotted a cafe that seemed welcoming enough. A blackboard sigh stood outside the open door listing specials. It all seemed like hearty breakfast food, but it was the sound of the coffee grinder inside that caused him to stop, "This looked good." He said, looking over at her for approval, and dropping her hand to open the door for her.

"Same here you~" Rin's tone sounded playful.
Rin squeezed Melvin's hand back. "I'm not going to lie to you, this is my first date ever. Congratulations, you're my first." She shot him an exaggerated wink.
She stopped too to inhale the aroma by the door, "Oh yes. This will do." She sauntered inside the cafe with a fluid slink, like a lioness on the prowl.

"Really? I thought you would have at least dated...well, Rep." They had been together, and while Rin had stated it was nothing serious, he would have assumed they went out at least once together.
The cafe was pretty laid back, and they seated themselves and menus were already sitting on the table, held up by a wire-created dog. Opening the menu, he glanced over the items. "I find it a little weird. I mean, you don't look like you would have been unattractive when you were growing up. No guys ever hit on you?" Even a modestly looking girl would at least be able to hook up with someone while in school. "I would think your friends would get on your case if you didn't date at least someone."
For him, dating had helped him create a image of normalcy. That, and he was just as horny and desiring the company of girls as anyone else, though he failed on the intimacy aspect so much that he often had to dump them before they found him out.

"Nope, like I told you before. He and I were just... well. We didn't date and as for friends... I never had time for them. I needed to keep my grades as high as possible. So when I was hit on? It essentially fell on deaf ears." She reached to grab her own menu and look it over thoughtfully. "My grades were everything to me back then. Funny how they didn't matter in the grand scheme of things."
