For a time, Bosede had no reaction. He had decided that the Thing didn't mean any harm, as odd as it was, and he had a stick and sticks were great. He even allowed the sprite to touch his head in a way that many younglings preferred. After a couple more good against-the-grain pushes, the raptrix's skin tightened and he lifted his head, watching the Thing from upside-down.

... what were you doing, Thing?

He was only slightly annoyed and saw no issue with a good fluffing, but he did stand and begin to walk in circles, trying to spot the Thing that had moved out of his range of sight.

Nyiim watched and smiled softly. At least they were getting along, right? He'd be done in no time, and if he didn't have to worry about the little fluttering thing then it would be even sooner.

Achik chimed with laughter and fluff-pushed again. Yah, bitey, yah! Go, bitey, go! It was like a forest of fluff. He gave Bosede a rub and a fluff. Maybe it would make him go faster!

The sounds only made Bosede more curious and more desperate to see what the Thing was doing. In that way, the sprite succeeded in making the raptrix spin faster. Unfortunately, the fun ended when Achik found a particularly nice spot and the beast halted, its mouth stretching into a great wide line. One leg lifted, beating triple-time against his furry chest. Ghk, itchy spot!

Nyiim shook his head and took up a smaller tool, driving holes into either side. What remained of his twine supply was more recent grass rope, but it was good enough. He knotted it through the base of the wooden cup and held it up.

"Here," he said, moving it between his fingers, "For your water."

Spin spin SPIN! Woohoo! Achik made a sound suspiciously close to a 'Yeehaw' as the beast spun around and around. When the raptrix stopped, the sprite chimed, half in annoyance half in curiousity and leaned over to see what the Raptrix was doing.
What was bitey doing? He rubbed the spot again.
Whoa. It was like pressing there made something completely different happen. It was like the time he had figured out how to catapult hard seeds into a black-marked's nest with a springy twig and some vines, except the reaction made no sense. Why was bitey whapping his chest with a claw? It was silly. Distracted by the raptrix, Achik had all but forgotten the earthling with the sharp things, until the cup was presented.
The new thing caught his interest and he fluttered up to investigate (mindful of any sharp objects that may be nearby) He crooned at the strange object. What was it? It was big for the sprite, but tiny for the earthling. Why did earthlings have to be so big? It was silly. He tapped it. Yup, made of wood, but what was it? And why was the Earthling talking about water?
Wait.
Was it his? Was it for Achik? Achik took it in his hands experimentally and brought it to his face. It was a little hollow thing with a string attached. Okay. What do you do with little hollow things with strings? Other than make them or give them as a present? Not that Achik would refuse a present, of course. He was a bit of a hoarder, when he had a place to call his own.

Bosede relaxed, his lips still stretched out oddly as he laid down again. Ahhh, itchy spot...

Nyiim watched the creature take the cup and look perplexed. Did it... not know how to use tools? Maybe he had taken its Earthling-like shape for granted. It wasn't like there were many tools it could employ to create cups and bowls, except maybe hollowed-out nut shells. He leaned over his bed, coming back with a water skin and coming up to pour a bit into the sprite's cup. It spilled over just a bit, but that was no worry. He had plenty of fresh water within reach, but he imagined the sprite would too if he traveled just a little farther.

"See? You can use it to hold water, so you don't have to get eaten by turtles." That was probably an issue tiny creatures had, right?

Achik frowned at the full cup now, surprised. He took an experimental sip. Yes! It was water! In a container, a small container to be honest, but a container. That was amazing. And the Earthling had made this? You could make containers?!
Achik had thought that the things that the earthlings had were grown, or just appeared. Actually, he had never thought about it. Sprites didn't do much for tools- a twig or two for poking things, a crafted prank or two here and there. The idea that you could MAKE things... That was new (and probably would be forgotten in a few days).
So. He could use it to hold... water. That was great! He chirped a reply. He didn't like turtles very much at all- nasty nippy things, and not as fun as bitey. Avoiding them would be great! But how could he avoid them with this if he had to refill it?
He looked at it. It was big, though. And he could swoop really fast and scoop up water. So maybe that was how! He chimed happily and accidentally moved too fast, splashing water on the big earthling. He couldn't help chimingly laughing. It was only a little drizzle.

Nyiim just watched the droplets splash to his leg and couldn't help but laugh with the sprite. What was that noise? They were fairly humanoid, weren't they? What ever they were. Hopefully the little Thing would learn to use the cup, not that losing it would be all that terrible. He imagined that these things survived without the use of tools on an every day basis... but maybe he'd see it again, right? If it wanted water, if it wanted another cup, if it desired to try and steal something else from him.

Regardless, he'd like to see it again.

"You're welcome any time, you know. You're an interesting little thing..."

Bosede came over to investigate and began to lap the dropped water from his Earthling's leg. Nyiim scratched his head.

"Oddball."

Achick cocked his head curiously at Nyiim. Interesting? Interesting was good, right? Achik decided that it was a good thing. He smiled, chiming, and bowed, accidentally dumping more of the water onto Bosede's head.
Achik glared at the cup for a moment before deciding magnanimously that it wasn't the cup's fault. The lost water was okay because it was funny- the big ol' bitey thing was hilarious. And Achik had figured out the ingenious plan of swooping with the cup to get water from the lake. He'd go so fast that the turtles would only snap their nasty little jaws on air, and not his tail.
He had to do that right about now, though, because it was getting dark and he wanted to check on his chirpy kinfa friend before their mama came home and tried to eat him. He needed more down for his little temporary nest, after all. That stuff was comfy, no wonder kinfa chicks were covered in it!
That meant he had to leave bitey and the twoleg, though. Which was a shame, they were interesting too. He chirped once and then, without warning, zipped out the window.
almost as soon as he had left, he appeared again, hovering. He had forgotten to say goodbye! He waved.
Bye twoleg! Bye bitey!
And then he was gone again.

The water rolled down Bosede's face and down his neck, rolling off his soft plumage. The raptrix gave a startled sneeze and then watched as the Thing left, came back, and left again. His tail was swaying curiously back and forth.

Nyiim leaned out the window, watching the Thing escape away.
