Ilyra nodded. "Yes, they spoke about a sister who was learning to create weapons. They said that so far you were doing better then some of the sisters who have spent years doing it. My old mother said it was because you were specializing in making them so of course no one would do as good of a job." Ilyra commented. She didn't like talking about her old mother, but at the same time this wasn't a bad one.

Ilyra watched as both Dyakida and Briella seemed amused by her attack of Kaalnia. Good! Hopefully she would learn her lesson, and when Briella went to go talk to her she turned back towards Dyakida. "Yes, over there is good, far enough away from her." So far she didn't like this aunt of hers. She was so excited about having an aunt, but it turned out her aunt sucked.

Oh well, at least she had Dyakida.

Not a kid? What? Was she some kind of midget Alkidike or something?
Then Briella explained and Kaalnia still didn't get it. "Wait so..." Kaalnia's brain chewed at the information for a moment. It didn't do a very good job. "So... she's..." Kaalnia was quiet for a moment.
"Can you run that by me again, Brie?" She just couldn't understand why someone wouldn't want to be called a kid when they were one. Kids got a ton of attention and that was awesome. She knew she was a kid at heart. Prentices were supposed to start taking things seriously, well screw that. She wasn't going to be serious, except about the ladies, of course. But that was a major exception.

Wait.
Wait.

So all those times she'd called her older sister 'kid' or 'kiddo' way back when... She HADN'T liked it? Whoa, what an epiphany!
Okay, then, Kaa, note to self: Don't call Briella kiddo anymore. She filed it away for future reference. And Ilyra too, I guess.

She still didn't get it, but the subject was changed to more awesome things, namely, herself.
"Good to finally get here! You wouldn't believe what I ran into!" she grinned and narrowed her eyes, leaning in conspirationally, "I saw not just one, but TWO men! Isn't that neat?"

Dyakida was somewhat taken aback, surprised even. She had never thought about it in quite that way.
Crafting weapons exclusively had always seemed like a desperate act, something she could do (that she also happened to like) to make herself moderately useful to her tribe since she couldn't fight. It hadn't occurred to her that she could be better than the weapons crafters they already had.
But the more she thought about it, the more it made sense. She had been thinking in terms of disability- being unable to fight. But that was its own blessing- it let her focus entirely on the craft. She was no longer bound to train her skills in fighting and crafting both- but train herself exclusively in craft. How by Aisha's leave had she not realized that.
She smiled wider than usual. Yes, she liked Ilyra. She liked this newer arrival more and more, the more she talked to her.
She chuckled. "Exactly." she said quietly, feeling for something to sit against
"So Ilyra, this is a question I like to ask my sisters. What weapon do you think suits you best? Bow, Spear, or Swords?" she knew Ilyra practiced with her little bow a lot, but that didn't mean that bow was necessarily her dream weapon.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 02, 2013 8:33 pm

Just as she thought, Kaalnia didn't understand. "To make a long story short, we don't call Ilyra kid." as long as her sister understood that then nothing else really mattered.

When Kaalnia said she met not one, but two men, Briella laughed. She too had met many men since moving off their main island and coming to live in her home tree. "Oh yes? How was that? But men are men, have you met any special ladies?" she had a feeling her sister wouldn't see men as anything more then friends. However she knew that Kaalnia loved the women.

"I know you aren't thinking of settling down... Right? But is there anyone that has even caught your eye yet?" Females were the one thing that she knew that Kaalnia was serious about, and something that Briella was never really good with. Sure she wasn't horrible with women, but she didn't have the experience that Kaalnia had. Though she wasn't sure that was a bad thing exactly.

She smiled. It was an important question she was being asked. Even though she knew that she loved the bow and that was her favorite weapon she had to be sure before telling Dyakida. "The bow. I have played with other weapons from time to time, but ever since Briella got the bow and arrow I've become sure. There is no other weapon that would suit me. For a second I thought that I'd like the blades, but now that I've seen Briella's I know they aren't from me." she nodded, hoping that her answer was good enough for Dyakida.

Well fine then. She wouldn't call her a kid. She didn't want to get smashed in the leg again... ouch!
"Oh yeah! They were really neat! Shame they don't have..." she looked between Briella and Ilyra again, finally getting the message. "Nevermind. Either way, I met this one man and he had this headdress and body paint and we traded tips!" she grinned, "I might try out a few paints, see if it improves my luck!" well really, it would be improving all the other ladie's luck, because then they would be more likely to find the awesomeness that was Kaalnia.
Special ladies...
"Maaaaybe?" she said coyly, "I met a few. One even dances like I do! and shes..." she glanced half-warily at Ilyra again and made a fanning gesture, 'Tsss', if you know what I mean!" Which of course Briella would because Briella knew all sorts of things. Her sister was really smart. "And theres a few sister's I've got my eyes on." maybe the paint would be just the thing to get her on their minds. Mmm they would think, Look at that sexy young lady. Isn't she a great catch? and then of course she would be swarmed with them. Obviously. She'd need some perfume to match. What an idea. Some bug musk and flowers... Maybe she should drop by the Andile market. See what they had.
"What about you, Brie?" she asked, clapping an arm around her sister's back and pulling her in conspiratorially, "Anybody you got your sights on? What about her?" she gestured to Dyakida. She was a pretty one, definitely. And she looked like she would be hard to get which was just fine. It made things fun.

Dyakida pretended she couldn't hear Kaalnia's obnoxiously loud voice. Her and Briella? Oh that ship had sailed. She knew who Briella was sweet on and she approved and simultaneously pretended not to know. She was not likely to have anybody special like that in her life, she was pretty sure of this, but she also knew she would never consider an irritating loudmouth like this Kaalnia. How on earth she and Briella could be raised by the same parents, she didn't know.

Dyakida nodded slowly. "Bow it is then." She had been right. The girl wasn't a spearwielder, for sure, and dual blades were just not her style. It was between the broadsword or the bow in Dyakida's mind, and clearly Ilyra wished to be an archer.
"I want you to be the best you can be." she began, quietly, For me she added in her mind, Since I cannot fight, "So I will make you a practice bow to train with. It will be just like a normal bow, though its for practice so I will make it simple in design." she smirked, "Though yours will be very specially different from other practice bows..." she waited to let Ilyra think about that. And herself. She had a few ideas in mind and, even as she finished the sentence, she was settling on a good idea to use.
"What would you think if your practice bow was harder to use, not easier?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 03, 2013 8:28 pm

Briella smiled when her sister thoughtfully skipped the parts of her sentence that she would not have liked Ilyra to hear. She was still too young to think about that and Briella hoped to wait a while before they had that talk.
When Kaalnia said something about an earthling man with a headdress and paints she raised one eyebrow. "Just don't go crazy, your good looking how you are. I mean you do look like your older sister." Briella said with a joking smile.

At Kaalnia coy response Briella raised an eyebrow. This was new, normally Kaalnia didn't have anyone, and ever had she had more than one person who she had her eyes on. But than again, in a way Kaalnia had her eyes on most of the female population at all times. "That's good, dancing huh? An Earthling I presume?" she questioned.

When her sister asked if she had anyone, and than asked about Dyakida she shook her head. "Nah, Dya is my best friend. Nothing more. And no, Ilyra's the only lady in my life." she said with a nod. She didn't want to tell Kaalnia the truth, mostly because just didn't want to say it out loud to herself.

Ilyra felt like she had pasted the test! If Dyakida thought that a bow was good for her, well than she had to be right! It would be the best bow ever.

As Dyakida talked Ilyra nodded her head, her eyes wide with excitement. Yes a special bow just for her. When Dyakida asked what she thought she nodded. If it was harder than if she ever used a normal sucky one that would make it even easier! Yes this was an amazing idea, of course Dyakida would think of it! She was so wise! "I think that would make me more skilled in the long run." she said affirmatively.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 05, 2013 1:23 pm

"Aww, really?" she gave Briella a friendly thump on the back, "You gotta get out there! You can't let those looks go to waste, right? Right?" She let the looks-like-big-sister thing slide, because why not? She and Brie were prime pieces of alkidike.
"So. Dya. She's single?" Kaalnia said, looking back at the blind artisan. Since she wasn't taken by her sister... she was fair game, aww yeah. Kaalnia liked a challenge, or at least that was what she told herself. She'd heard about this one, and blind meant... well... blind. She'd have to win her over with words and nonvisual awesomeness which would be... a relief, actually!

"Yep!" said Kaalnia, remembering Pahana and grinning even wider than usual, "She's leaf tribe and a real fireball! She's a whole lot of fun! You never know what she'll want to do next, Haha!"
Her expressive face quickly went to a slightly concerned mock pout.
"But seriously, Brie, you need to get out there and find someone awesome to hang out with you and..." she restrained herself from saying 'that knee-busting brat' because, please! That was Brie's kid! "Ilyra. Someone you, uhhh... Got chemistry with, you know?" she tried to make hand gestures that were not provocative, (For ilyra's sake) and it ended up being ridiculous. "You know? I mean, I get worried about you, Brie!" Which was true.

Dyakida managed to repress a pained twitch. Yep, best friend. Nothing more.
She pretended she hadn't heard that exchange (though her keen ears heard every word, regrettably so whenever that annoying woman talked) or, better yet, that she hadn't ever wanted to think of Briella as anything more than her best friend.
She also pretended she hadn't heard Kaalnia ask about her relationship status.
Please, Dear Aisha, please never let me become so desperate as to even consider someone so annoying... she thought to herself, keeping her face neutral and her mind at the conversation at hand. She figured, from the silence, that Ilyra was either thinking or responding in some way. She wasn't sure if the vibrations she was picking up were the leaves overhead or the movement of Ilyra's antennae or just the wind. She put a hand on Ilyra's head, between the antennae. Her answer was clearer.
"Then it will be done. A bow that is harder to string and use, but in the end will let you use bows that are made for further-reaching and more powerful shots." it would be fun to make. "I'll pick up the wood for it when I go to the isles in a few days..." she lowered her voice to a whisper. She could hear it and Ilyra was close enough to hear it, but it was quiet enough that the other two could not.
"Since we are talking about special weapons..." she asked, "Do you see a way to distract that awful loudmouth long enough to slip a word in edgewise?"

Briella raised her eyebrow when Kaalnia asked if Dyakida was single. "She is, but Kaa I don't think you're her type." she said with a nod. She was trying to save Dyakida, she knew that there was no way on Tendaji that Dyakida would be interested in her sister.

Thankfully Kaa switched back to talking about this earthling girl. "She sounds fun. You know I will support you no matter if you chose to be with a sister or an earthling." she said supportively. It was true as well, although Briella knew that she would never end up with an earthling she didn't mind if Kaa did. She also knew that both of their mothers wouldn't mind.

Briella smiled. "Don't be worried about me sis, I have Ilyra and right now she's the only girl that I need in my life. One day I'll find someone and continue our line." she said clasping her hand on Kaa's shoulder.

Ilyra clapped her hands together happily. Yes! This was just perfect! Dyakida would make her the perfect bow, and she would out preform everyone with it! Sisters and earthlings alike would bow down to her amazing skills with her amazing bow. She couldn't wait.

When Dyakida whispered Ilyra put on a devious smile. This sounds liked fun. She looked back at Kaa and her mother. "I could always let another arrow loose?" she suggested quietly to Dyakida. Although she didn't dislike her aunt she wasn't afraid to let another arrow loose.

Aww, what did Brie know? Well lots of things, but that was silly! Kaalnia was EVERYONE's type! Unless they weren't into ladies, in which case she could still be their type, just not, like, sexually or anything. She'd already met a few males- who were probably her friends by this point because how could they not be- and she could totally introduce nice ladies to them. Yeah! It was a great idea.
So, despite Brie's warning, Kaalnia determined that she would hit on the artisan because she was female and there. Maybe a bit of work though, first. Figure out what the lady liked, give her presents... the slow approach. Not Kaa's favorite, but the one that kept her from getting horribly beaten up as often.
"Yeah!" said Kaa, leaning playfully into Briella, "You gotta continue the line of awesomeness, right?" she grinned, "And I know you wouldn't mind, I mean, why would you?"
She certainly didn't! Earthling women were smoking hot! And Alkidike hybrids? Mmm! Clearly other sisters treated them like s**t because they were jealous! "Oh! Oh! I also met this lovely half shifter? Did I mention her? Ooo, maybe you know her, Lassarra? Anyway, she was gorgeous! Come to think of it, maybe I should wear black, you know? It looked good on her, maybe it will look good on me, right? I mean, it was her skin, but... You know what I mean!"
And, oddly enough, it was not an innuendo.
It was also fairly clear that, unless someone stepped in, Kaalnia was not going to shut up until the world ended. Or later.

The more Kaalnia talked, the more annoying she became to Dyakida. Normally, the longer she knew someone the more she could tolerate them, but it was completely inverted- she wanted to whack this womanizing sister over the head a few times, honestly.
She wished she could tune it out, but that woman was so damn loud...
"I think thats an excellent idea" said Dyakida, making a very chagrined face, "Except it would get you in trouble." and that wouldn't be very fair, would it. And, despite feeling like it, Dyakida was not about to actually whack Kaalnia. Even though she was imagining it. Vividly.
"All we need to do is get her to stop talking long enough for me to take control of the conversation and make my announcement." She thought for a moment.
"I don't think just yelling at them would work..." an almost sly expression began to grow on her face, "But maybe deception would. Something to cause a distraction. Tell me, does she have anything shiny or interesting on her?" also, where was Peyla?
