It was a good shot, and the arrow caught him in the arm. He grunted, pulling it out with a grimace.
"Yeah, sounds like a pretty good demonstration."
He swung with a fist, aiming for the middle of her body. He just couldn't bring himself to hit a nice young girl in the face.

"I wasn't expecting it, so at the time I didn't think it was a good demonstration." Freakin' traumatizing was what it had been.
When he hit her she grunted and pushed him away with Matilda. She held the bow horizontal in front of her in a more defensive stance, the string drawn back and a glowing white arrow ready to fire.

Wash stepped back, nodding. "Yeah, always a little intense the first time y'see it in action."
"Nice stance," he added. "Did you know how t'use that," he stopped speaking for a moment as he lunged forward, "before comin' here?"
He swung with his left fist this time, and it was a little bit weaker.
"S'odd, I've never held a shield before but when I got Sally, it was almost like she was made t'be there. On my arm, I mean."

When her stance was complimented she grinned and bowed dramatically. "Thank you, thank you. I know, I'm awesome~." She shoved Wash away with the flat side of her bow, not wanting to catch him with Matilda's blades, before she quickly backed away from him. "Yeah! My dad used to take me hunting sometimes and I was really bad with a gun, so he had me try a bow instead. I'm not, like, a pro or anything but at least I knew the basics and stuff."And it was a good thing Heidi didn't claim to be a pro when her next arrow barely hit him. Good job, Heidi. "Aw, really? That's neat! I wonder how we get paired up with our weapons. Like..are they the weapon they appear as before they bond with us? Wash's brow winkled with thought.
"S'good question. I'm not sure, t'be honest. I guess it's a little bit o' both."
With that thought, he lunged forward, using his body to follow through on the punch and aiming at a point just past the main part of her body.

A little bit of both made sense.
Heidi grunted as Wash punched her shoulder and backed off again, this time trying to circle around him to shoot an arrow at the man from behind. "Geeze, your fists are like rocks."

"Oh." He laughed, a little abashed. "Sorry, got distracted talkin'."
"It's kinda strange, really. S'like, I don't know my own strength. We gain more from the bond than just survivability y'know."
He scuttled forward, swinging again, concentrating on the feel of his muscles, and it didn't seem different. And yet he knew from the way the blows were landing on his opponent that somehow the damage he did now, even with his bare hands, was inhuman.
It was unsettling, to say the least, and he frowned.

"I can see it, yeah.." Heidi took the hit with a grunt and rubbed her arm. Ow, man.
Matilda took control of her next arrow. It sparked and screamed. The gave off an ear piercing shriek as it flew straight at Wash...and actually hit him. She gasped. "Whoa...I've..never hit anyone with that! Um..I don't really know what it does...so..."
Time to learn.
