It was a good thing he managed to stay clean. She would have felt extremely guilty had he managed to soil his robes. She would have tried to pay him back for dirtying it, thought she was sure he'd refuse, and... she wasn't sure if she would have enough to cover the costs. Those robes looked quite expensive, and he knew demons (or at least MOST demons...) usually were quite well off and had impeccable taste.

She frowned slightly as she studied Molan's expression, hoping she hadn't embarrassed him... or herself, flustering slightly as she thought about what she said. Oh Jack, what if he thought she was coming on to him? Oh jack oh jack. Well, he was good-looking, and she DID like him... AS A FRIEND, but... was there something more? Did he feel the same way? She didn't know, and was a little scared to find out.

When he finally responded, accepting her gift, she smiled and nodded. Had she been able to choose, Molan would have been the first student and friend she made. Perhaps he was still the first friend, considering the first one she had met was actually TK, but, well, she hadn't seen the boil much since then and... well, she wasn't sure if after their encounter they were considered friends. Or were they? Anyone she didn't automatically hate the guts of on first encounter she supposed she could consider an acquaintance... or friend... even if they were an undead. Heck, Olivia was an undead too but she wasn't... too bad. Perhaps she should stop being judgemental and learn to accept all undeads for who they were.

... it was wishful thinking.

"Nonsense! I'm quite happy you're my friend. If anything, I only wish I could do more..."

Her heart dropped slightly when he mentioned a condition, but when she looked up, she saw his hand stretched out toward her, a pin in his hand. Was that...

She flustered again, reaching out to take the pin, holding it close to her and nodded.

"O-of course! I'd be more than happy to! T-thank you..."
And then she fell into a complete lapse of silence, not sure what to say next as she stared at the pin, hands resting on her lap.

They should probably never go over the cost of his wardrobe. Ever. Because it might alarm Mia, or if it didn't that might be all the more reason for worry. Regardless. They wouldn't be discussing such things anytime soon, and that was for the best.

If only the two knew what the other was thinking. They might have had a good laugh over how often they were both mentally having to clarify 'AS A FRIEND.' Repeatedly. It would have also been rather dangerous because certain questions might have come up. Thankfully, they were also avoided. Because both still stuck to the safe realm of friend-zoning one another. Like bosses.

Though he did smile kindly, thankfully just taking her comment as she likely meant it. "Although I do work to take care of things myself, I will keep that in mind should I need assistance." Not that he planned to make a habit of needing help, but it would likely make her happy to hear it? "For now, I can say I'm thankful to have you as a friend." Which he was. True friends were rather difficult to find in a world of self preservation and taking care of yourself. So he could honestly say finding a friend, so soon even, was something that left him more than a little overjoyed.

Even if he did stifle it for the sake of appearances. ..and just friends. No need for misunderstandings.

He was glad that you accepted the pin though, but she seemed to be staring at it at that point. Was it that odd? It had a bell on it, simple, but perfect. Was it not as fancy as she thought it should have been... or? "Thank you as well, Mia." He finally added, carefully tucking away the pin she'd given him after giving it one last look. Definitely more complicated than his. Woops.

And then there was that lovely awkward silence. As he wasn't sure what to say now.

Molan is a terrible date. He is a terrible terrible date. Why do you do this to yourself, Mia?

Perhaps it would have been better that they weren't able to read each other's minds, as Mia had a tendency to, well, over-analyze everything. And think in circles. So while she probably had a good idea of how much Molan's wardrobe would be, it probably... would cause some surprise, and then make her envious, and then she'd feel guilty for thinking such things. As for the whole friend-zone matter, she'd be relieved, then upset, and... it was a really complicated process.

She nodded, embarassed that she offered, because, well, it wasn't like Molan was incapable of doing things herself. Oh jack, she hoped she hadn't implied that. He was very capable, and-

Mia flustered when he reassured her that just being friends was more than enough, and she nodded, wishing she'd stop making a fool of herself. Right, right, they just... exchanged pins and he asked her to go to prom with him... AS FRIENDS. No need to over-think things... or complicate it, or-

She looked up again and smiled when he thanked her, not knowing what he thought she thought. "Thank you as well. Your pin... it... it really means a lot to me. I'll be sure to cherish it."
Taking her bag, she slipped the pin inside, and checked to make sure the pocket she put it in had no holes and that it was safe and snug.

And then she turned to face him, folding her hands in her lap as she tilted her head, giving him a curious look.
"Um, did you want to do anything after, or..."

And thus, it was a good thing neither was a race adept at such things. Then again, women supposedly could read minds. Perhaps it was merely something Molan would learn about, or have to worry about in the future. Regardless, wardrobe discussions were put on hold in the meantime. Crisis averted.

And yes. Yes, he liked to think he was good at most things. Minus cooking. Maybe one day Mia would get a text pleading for help on what to do next with the soup when it seemed to be done, but he wasn't sure. The direction were NEVER clear enough. Also he hated trying to get things off the stove, it was always too warm. The entire endeavor was uncomfortable and- he was done with that tangent.

Though it was still debatable if asking a ghoul to prom was a way to ask as FRIENDS. Wasn't Mia more correct in possibly over thinking the whole thing, or at least more so than Molan under thinking what he'd just done? Really, he should have been the one rather panicked if anything. It'd likely settle in later and he'd hide under his pillow for a while. Like any properly embarrassed teenager who'd asked a ghoul out for the first time.

Or did this count as the first time? Debatable.

Regardless, he had things to worry about. Like socializing and not making more of a fool of himself. Though he wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole comment. He intended to be careful with her pin of course, not lose it or let it get destroyed. But was cherish a word he'd use? ...not with materials items(bells didn't count as material items). Still, that was her business. Right? "Of course, I'll take good care of yours too." He just wasn't going to throw a specific word around. Though he didn't get to continue to dwell on that long either as a more pressing matter was brought up.

Anything... else? The classic deer in the headlights look briefly dawned on his face as he stared at her. He hadn't exactly thought too far beyond the whole... asking to prom thing. Right. He had asked her out and borrowed her time. "Oh... well." Uh, think fast. What did creeple usually do? "After we finish eating we could see a movie, perhaps?" DING DING! That worked.

Right. Normal stuff. "Does that sound alright?" He offered a smile at that point, shifting to take a sip of his tea. Yes, smooth. So very smooth. He had this all so planned.

She would hope you didn't lose it, Molan. She'd be upset. Very upset. You don't want to see her upset.

The mention of a movie made her smile, and she nodded.
"That sounds perfect!"

And so with that, they peacefully enjoyed their tea and had an actual date. That totally wasn't a date. And nothing questionable happened minus them being really awkward teenagers and this is a closing post because.

Oh my jacking god guys nothing happened.
