Tuck snorted so hard it hurt.

"That was a close ********' game and you know it," he began before glancing over at Nevada with her ridiculous glasses and horrible goddamn hat.

Tuck snorted again, this time with laughter as he removed the glasses he wore and set them back on the rack.

"You know," he lifted the hat high enough that he could steal a kiss, "it is what it is. The shadows, I mean. Ain't no sense in gettin' upset about where we ended up. Sometimes it's just too goddamn easy to lose ourselves in the sadness, the losses. You know where your sister is. She's sleepin'. A good sleep. An' when she wakes up, you gonna be there waitin' for her."

He tugged down the awful glasses she wore so that he could look into her eyes.

"I mean it. You ain't no coward, Nevada. You'd lay down your life for Alaska same as I would for Natasha. Nothin' cowardly about that."

He picked up a straw fedora decorated with garish hibiscus trim.

"I'm gettin' this one. Pick out somethin' fancy for yourself, darlin'. My treat."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 04, 2013 8:34 pm

"45 to 31 says different, My Green Bay friend.." She nudged him with her elbow, waggling eyebrows regardless that you couldn't see because hat and cat glasses you know.

Her head tipped up as the hat did, a purring sound made as he kissed her again and resisted the urge to bury her hand behind his neck to pull him closer. Instead she took it for what it was, simple and pleasing and smiled when he pulled away. "Not at all. Besides, I've met great people. I got to meet you too, regardless of terrible situation but...And Stormy and Candace and Otto and others. I've made friends. I've learned things. I'm a terrible shot with a gun, even if its my weapon. I tell you Tuck, Mobster's everywhere are saddened by the lack of my skills." She winked, falling silent at the mention of Alaska. He knew just what to say.

"I'll be there when she wakes, and I'm there for her when she sleeps. I'd lay down my life for a lot of people though now. Even one's I don't know. Same as you. So we aren't cowards." She laughed again, watching the hat he chose before losing her sunglasses and hat herself.

"I like simple so..." She picked a large brimmed hat, almost like what you'd wear in the garden to protect your face and nose from the sun, around it was tied a simple purple ribbon. "If you're treating me for the hat, Then I suppose we should find some of the tastiest hawaiian BBQ we can yeah? That'll be my treat." She gave the hat to the cart owner and gave a pleased look to Tuck. This...this is just what she needed to beat back the memories of pain from childhood, from becoming a hunter. Those two days of normalcy, to be reminded that she was only a 20 year old girl still, no matter what she donned.

"And after food, maybe we can go swimming..." She winked at him, because underneath the sundress what a very cute purple bikini that would be shown off. Eventually. "And I can show off my bod like the tan ladies around here."

Tuck took a moment to pay the vendor, stuffing his wallet back in his jeans before presenting Nevada with her hat. He placed it on her head before tipping his own hat to her with a cocky little grin on his face.

"I'm glad you see it my way, then, baby. We ain't cowards, and we ain't got nothin' to be ashamed of." He paused, that grin spreading. He decided not to respond to anything that might dampen the mood. No, there was only one thing that he felt like talking about, and it wasn't Nevada showing off her lithe little body.

Well. That was a lie.

"Maybe we can find a place where you can eat some barbecue while showin' off your body," he drew her up close against his side, his hand curving around her waist. "********, wait. Maybe they got a place where I can eat barbecue off your body. You think they got a joint like that here?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 04, 2013 11:16 pm

She fiddled with the hat, removing long strands of hair from her face before tilting up again. "Nothing to be ashamed of..." She took those words to heart. Valuable to her. "Oh?" She blinked...

And then the smile grew wide too. Perhaps even matching Tuck's.

"Why don't we ask if we can find that? Long as you don't have to share. I've seen some places that actually put on shows instead. Like dancers and such." She'd seen the crazy college kids with body shots, and whoever wanted to take them off a girls body could. She wasn't shy, but she wasn't crazy. "Or we could find a place to give us a picnic basket, take it down to a private spot on the beach and test the rumors that sand really does get everywhere...."

"Oh but that's if you're up to it...or want to wait till we get a hotel room tonight?" So many options.

All the teasing smiles as she curled in his arms.

All the things. Tuck was up for all the things, over and over again until he no longer had the power or strength within him to move.

"Lets get stuff for a picnic," he decided, "an' find us a real private little beach. Ain't lookin' to get sand everywhere," Tuck clarified, "but I'm lookin' to do other things."

It was best to cull the heavy topics before they got too heavy. After all, they were here to enjoy one another's company, the sun, the beach. He'd never taken leave before - something new to learn about, he supposed, and something to be sure to tell everyone during the next orientation meeting that came up.

"Like swimmin'. Maybe naked swimmin'. You ever been skinny dippin'?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 05, 2013 3:13 pm

"Skinny dipping?" This was a rare moment for Nevada, something she had never done. Something she'd actually be shy about. "Actually, I haven't. I wasn't quite comfortable with those secret thrills. The naughtiest we did as kids, was fool our friends into believing Alaska was me, and I was Alaska." She chucked thoughtfully.

"Tuck..." She almost look serious, weighing the personal question in her head with the weight of how the day was going. She didn't want to ruin it, but she couldn't help the self doubt and guilt to sink in. "I know you said you'd be my friend...whatever I needed. But are you really comfortable with that?" She looked up at, I'f only with a smile, "are you comfortable being with me intimately? Aren't you worried that even being friends with me after what happened would hurt your reputation?"

The smile that encompassed his entire face wilted slightly when the conversation took a turn towards the serious.

"I'ma be honest with you, Nevada. Don't really give a ******** what people think of me. People who matter won't judge me, and the people who do judge me can go to hell. I spent too much of my life tryin' to make people happy - my parents, my coach." He shook his head and shrugged.

"An' when I'm doin' my job and protecting Suns, none of that s**t matters anyway. Don't hold grudges on the field. Never have."

He narrowed his eyes just slightly, brows drawing together over the bridge of his nose as he glanced down at her.

"Do it bother you? I say somethin' wrong? Someone else say somethin'?"

Tuck wasn't sure how to react.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 05, 2013 10:08 pm

Her hand came to lay over his arm, reassuring him to calm down before gnawing on her lip. "No...Oh god, I am terrible at this." She took a moment to collect thoughts before looking up at him, "I appreciate you Tuck, and I like our friendship. I like how easy you are with me...And I like that there is not demands unless both of us are willing. I'm attracted to you, in every way pretty much possible. Mind and Body..." She sighed, giving his body an appreciative glance, "but I didn't want my selfishness to result in hindering you. I didn't want people to judge you for something that made me happy-" She let her shoulders fall for a moment. "I didn't want people to see you for the guy who slept with Nevada, resulting in a terrible break up. Things like you're a woman stealer, things that would keep others from talking to you. Like...." She held up her hands and let them drop. "I don't know."

She wasn't even sure herself anymore. Her reputation would already go downhill, and probably faster than Tuck's since Roland was older than her experience on the Island. She didn't care really. It was her friends she was worried more for. After making Roland hate her, she couldn't bear another with resentment towards her. Especially when she already hated herself. Part of her felt guilty about it...the other was happy. Happy to talk and be with Tuck. just be there with him.

There was a long moment of silence as she walked by him, troubled thoughts brewing in violet eyes as she searched for a place to grab a to go picnic.

"Sorry, That was debbie downer moment." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, exhaling. "This date was about us, with no Island drama. Just you, Me, Beach and some food. And secretly I was going to ask all those little questions to find out more about you."

She smiled, "What's your favorite color Tuck?"

He was quiet for a long time as they walked, falling introspective as he thought about her words.

"Our business ain't nobody else's. If you was really happy with Roland, we wouldn't be here right now - an' everything that happened up to this point wouldn't have happened. I only tell the people I trust 'bout the things I done. Don't need to tell nobody else. Don't really care. Roland wants to make a big fuss about s**t on twitter, let him. Ain't how a man handles his business. S'how a kid handles s**t. I ain't a kid. Ain't got nothin' to hide from you, from nobody."

Tuck stopped walking and drew her into a hug, his arms wrapping tightly around her. He wanted her to feel safe, feel comfortable, feel at ease with him.

"We got a understandin' between us, Nevada. So long as we stay honest with one another an' make sure that we each gettin' what we need from the other, things is gonna be okay. You know I find you attractive, an' you know I ain't gonna ask nothin' of you that you ain't willin' to offer. We're friends first, right? You ain't gotta be exclusive to me, baby. I ain't sayin' that. All I need is your honesty."

He kissed the curve of her shoulder.

"I already tell you - ain't no real man worth his salt gonna hit a woman in a fit of anger. I ain't afraid of no boy, and I ain't afraid of any rumors that come my way. Can't steal a woman from a boy that never really had her."

Giving Nevada a tight squeeze, Tuck pulled away from the Mist and offered her a grin.

"Green. Green's my favorite color."

He took her hand in his again and pointed towards a small shack that boasted barbecue.

"How's that look?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 12:28 am

Nevada almost stiffened when his form turned to her. It wasn't instinct, it was a small hint of fear that what she had said would've upset him. Instead, just talking to him comforted her. All the shadows of guilt and fear, all the reminders of why she did what she did....all the worries of loss of friends and such were eased away by one very simple hug.

In that hug she felt safe, just like he wanted. She felt, for just a moment, so at ease, calmed by his presence. By Tuck just being Tuck. The one thing he wanted, she would strive to give. She had failed with Roland on that but...learn from your mistakes.

"You're so confident, I should really take a page from your book handsome." She wrapped her arms around him before he let go, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Thank you....Thank you for understanding too." She breathed in and laughed.

"Green Bay, and your favorite color is green. Should've known. Mine's dark purple...and sometimes Neon blue. It changes on my mood." She fell back into step with him, Much lighter in thought then before. Now that the seriousness had faded, she wanted to return to fun. To being what Tuck wanted that day, and to distract each other from their new life's work.

"Looks good to me!" Nevada followed him to the shack, the smell of food hitting her like a wave of deliciousness. Now, There was a secret about Nevada that most didn't know about but...the girl could pack away food. She usually chose not too, eating small meals or such but on the days she had been off Deus island, well....Let's say on seafood dinner with Otto had been a shock to the death on just how much she ordered and finished.

If she was lucky, maybe Tuck would roll her out of the beach and to a hotel room.

"Oh my god they have pineapple teriyaki kabobs..." It was that moment that Nevada's stomach gave a very loud audible whine....which had her hand pressing down on the organ with a almost sheepish look. "Forgot to eat before coming...." Or something like that.

"You're welcome," he murmured softly, his tone gentle. Confident? Tuck supposed he was. Didn't have a reason not to be, so far as everyday life went. There were still little pieces of doubt that lingered, reasons that certain parts of his confidence was a facade, but nobody needed to know about that. Certainly not here and now.

"Purple don't surprise me," Tuck laughed, and then the smell of fresh barbecue was tart on the air and suddenly he remembered how hungry he was. The growl of Nevada's stomach was answered with one of his own, and Tuck laughed again. This was good. Lighter. Heavier conversation could be saved for their return to the island. This was fun and play and food and great company.

"We gonna take six of those pineapple kabobs," Tuck ordered, "an' six of them chicken ones, four of the pork - but only two salads, and two things'a rice, annnnn'," Tuck tapped his chin before glancing down at Nevada, "what else you want?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 10:56 pm

"I think it's a mist thing..." Nevada joked, thinking of Candace and Stormy who shared some sort of love of purple as well. At least she thought Stormy did, Candace did for sure.

"That's enough for me!" She watched as it was bagged up and handed to Tuck, her card out for to pay before the bigger man could snatch it up from her.

"I can't wait any longer." And she started pulling him towards the beach, looking for any spot that wasn't full of people. It wasn't till she walked more, pulling Tuck along that she found a little inlet cove. Rocks surrounded and no one around.

And that was when she pulled a magically huge towel out of her bag, laid it on the sand. Then her purse was laid on it. Then she gave him a coy smile and played with the edges of the straps on her dress.

"No point in getting my dress dirty..." And let the straps fall, pulling the dress down to show off the small bikini. Habitually, she started to braid her hair and then sat on the towel, waiting for him. "Ready to eat?"

"I'm always ready to eat," the big man rumbled in a way that insinuated that he wasn't talking about food. His grin only attested to the fact that he probably wasn't talking about food. He couldn't have been more obvious unless he actually said what he was talking about.

And suddenly there was a Nevada in a bikini, and Tuck's mouth fell open for just a moment before he let out a low, appreciative whistle.

"Looks like I know what dessert is," he chuckled softly before opening setting the bag of food down. Tuck lowered himself to the towel, pulling his shirt off. He tossed it in the general direction of Nevada's bag.

The bag of food was torn open, and Tuck handed Nevada a kebab before nabbing his own.

"This was a great idea, beautiful."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 07, 2013 12:18 am

She flushed, remember their night together and just how he liked to...okay thoughts to food please. Otherwise she was becoming a very...very needy for sex. It was like her brain programmed right to it now that she had it.

She shook her head and grinned at him, giving her own appreciative sigh at his abs and large chest and shoulders and just...Tuck.

"And I know what pre-dessert is." She gave him a one up and down before reaching into the bag and pulling out a Kabob. "I can come up with a few of them. Good idea's that is. Mostly though, I run on sleep is good, sleep is good everywhere and if I can get people to sleep with me, wherever I am, Then its great. That's the extent of my AMAZING ideas. This thought though...This was one of my better ideas." She let her legs slide out, shifting again and stuck her toes in the sand, wiggling her feet as she took a bite of the kabob.

"I never did this at home so, It helps that the Island gives me the option. Maine isn't really the state of hot sunny beaches, or clear blue waters." She cradled the kabob, Teriyaki only coating her fingers for her to lick off.

"I was a big swimmer when I was in high school, how I kept in shape..." She patted her tummy, "along with basketball and Soccer. But swimming is where the heart is. You can either go all out, swim till you got nothing left. Or kick your legs up, lay on your back and just float." God she loved water, and just looking at it was making her itchy. She wanted to swim, dive under, fight the waves and then lay when it got calm.

"What was the army like Tuck?" She asked randomly, still looking at the sea with her food.

In the time it took Nevada to ask about the army, Tuck had already devoured two kebabs and was reaching for a third. Licking his fingers clean, he shot Nevada a look. There was a devilish grin toying with his lips, one that broke into an easy smile complete with deep dimples.

"Idaho wasn't such a fancy state, guess you could say. Natural beauty, yeah, but nothin' so great as this. Landlocked, so no beaches, and kinna stuffed between Montana and Washington." He shrugged and took a bite of his kebab before answering her question.

"The Army gave me what I needed. Structure. Discipline. Really got me in shape. I mean, I worked out in college, kept up my tone and definition, but I really trained for stamina. Lotta runnin'."

A darkness came over his features, fleeting and faint.

"Met a lot of great people. Lot of great people. Guys I'da given my life for. Guys I could trust to be there for me."

Tuck cleared his throat.
