Marlin hadn't beeb planning to actually be the one to run the booth, having figured that his father would be the one to do it as store owner. He'd only found out pretty last minute, ironically after calling up his father about something else.

Still he'd done his best with the best with the space he'd been allocated, having errected a small garden pavilion over it. He'd fancied it up though with the help of sone of the guys from the amateur theatre group, going with a leaf and tree theme in attempt to make it look woodlandly.

Marlin had brought a couple of fairy costumes over which he'd put up on display and to complete the theme had dressed up as an elf. It probably looked a little out of place, but they were a costume shop - what better way to showcase it than to go with a costume theme.

It had been pretty quiet to start though, with Marlin pretty much stuck by the desk which had the shop name flamboyantly emblazoned in gold lettering across the banner that he'd pinned to the tablecloth. It was no where as flamboyant as the casino boooth that he'd spotted though.

He looked up from the chair he'ld settled into as a voice addressed him, a cheerful smile on his face "Hi there, well as you may have probaby guessed Fancy a Change is a costume shop. I'm Marlin - I guess you can say I'm the acting Store Manager."

A slight pause for breath and then he continued "The job would pretty much be shop work - some till work, checking the stock and making sure that the shop stock on display is kept neat and good customer service is a must because we're retail and poor costumer service will hit sales." Fancy a Change wasn't a chain store, they were an Independent and the goodwill of their costumers went partway to ensuring they continued to sell.

sorry about the delay ^^' and if my interpretation of his looks are wrong just poke me ill edit them ^^

Jessie had fielded a few questions about the store and the hours, discount, and location. She had a few applications and quite a few business cards out and about. Even if she didn't hire anyone today, hopefully the business cards would draw in more customers but Jessie was really looking for a few new hires since the few employees she had covered only about a half of a week if that, and she had a sneaky suspicion that Jackson was about to resigned since he had to be close to graduating, not that being in school is a required to work at the store.

Jessie realized her mind was starting to drift and picked up a book to read when she heard someone in from of her speaking quietly. A young man with sandy blond hair and striking teal eyes was standing at the booth. He seemed even more unsure of what he was meant to do then Jessie was. "Um... Hello." What more should she say? "Can I help you?" For the 26 year old this was the hardest part. How do you make it seem like your job is the best job in the world, well for Jessie it was, but how to show that to others. And maybe this young man was more or less interested in the books and not the job. Gahhh, why was she not in the store with her nose buried in a book, Jackson could be here manning the booth... then again he would likely be playing Angry Birds on his phone or maybe Fruit Ninja.

Jude had been wandering; head in his hand and a notebook open in front of him, he'd been so focused on the tapping of his pen against paper, the neat rows of characters, that he hadn't even realized Po was there until she offered his mouth. Her voice was like a lightning bolt through him, straightening him immediately. The book slammed shut. His journal, then.

"Uh. Huh? Oh." He looked around the place; slow, to his eyes. People too busy running around in the sunshine or something to waste their time trying to get a job. He didn't voice that. "Um. I don't know. There was one guy put his name down, but...well...I don't know."

The name was, obviously, fake. The resume had the word 'butt' on it about two hundred times. Jude showed it to her.

Grey eyes had snapped down to the journal , and she tried to scan the page before he had a chance to slam it closed. One day.. One day she would get her hands on that note book. In all the years she'd known him to write in the damn thing, she had never yet managed to steal more then a glimpse at any one page. Tiny, snippets of things that were too random for her to make any sense of them. She wondered if Genie was in there, or more importantly, herself.

Troubles for another day though. She blinked as he held a resume up for her to read, and she suppressed a sudden chortle, turning it into more of an amused snort, before she could help herself. "Oh ya, I'm sure this guy would make a fine barista."

While she read she hopped off the table, walking around the table to take a seat beside Jude, chair kind of half facing him so she could kick her feet up and cross them in his lap. She was a pro at slouching. When she got to the end she glanced at the blonde over the top of the paper, then set it face down on the table before folding her hands over her stomach. "I hate to say it, but I think this fair might be a bust." It was almost empty. Not quite, but almost. "How long are you stuck here before I can drag you away to do something fun?"

"Well -- " Jude hesitated, looking around the place again, quiet and uncertain. In truth, he'd objected to this idea anyway, inwardly wondering who the hell they could find at a random job fair. There were part time positions now, yes, but he thought it wiser to post signs in windows, to entice regulars in to the fold instead of hunting elsewhere. Maybe, if he'd voiced this opinion, his boss would have agreed.

Maybe, eventually, he'd have the guts.

So, now, he floundered, between sitting here and waiting for people he didn't even really want to potentially fill out more bullshit resumes, or to leave with a hot girl who always seem to have something fun to do.

Responsibility warred with youth, and for this once, youth won.

"I could...I could probably just...there's a box, I could leave a note..." Slowly, he flipped to the back of the book and tore out one page, folding it in half between his fingers to write in crisp, clear lettering:

Please leave all applications in the box to be reviewed.

Everything on the table was disposable anyway. No one would miss him.

Honestly, Po thought she was going to have to convince, threaten, or beg to get him to leave the table to go with her so they could have a little fun. Instead he surprised her by tearing a piece of paper from his journal and writing a note on it advising potential job seekers to leave their application in the box. It left her shifting her eyes between the note and the boy she was currently using as a foot stool, before a slow grin crawled along painted lips. "Now that's what I'm talking about."

Extracting her feet from his thigh, she bounced up and practically hauled her friend up out of his chair so she could link arms with him and whisk him away from the stupid table and it's stupid little sample cups. "What say you to a little go-kart racing?"

It was rebelliousness that made him go along with her, leaving only the sign in his wake, cheeks a bit flushed. The eschewing of responsibility, for once in his life. It felt good. And horrible. He'd get over the horrible.

"Ice cream, too, maybe." Hesitant, but then he went with her, out the door.

“ Places to go, people to do, hm? In that case, I’ll make it short and sweet.”

Leo was performing, oh yes he was. Any vaguely positive attention fed his way and he’d prance and preen and generally be a flamboyant showboat. People amused with or by him were definitely welcome over people pissed off with him or actively trying to hurt him – reactions that he though he shouldn’t be the recipient of at all, thank you very much – so Veer was just feeding the fire.

He indicated for one of his harem to hand Veer a tablet, the leaned forward and asked dramatically, “ Only one question: who…. is your favorite movie or TV hottie?”

He liked this boy – he liked anyone that seemed to tolerate him, per the aforementioned logic – so he just wanted an excuse to nab his information, parade it past the HR harpies, and make them hire him. His appearance alone was nearly enough to make Leo snap him up, but he wanted to make sure his personality was as interesting as his looks.

Leo'll let Veer go after this, promise. :'D

That got a pause, a blink -- a difficult question, obviously, and one Veer had to actually think about. Missing the better part of a year of television made it difficult, meant that his references and memories were well out of date; add to that that mostly the television he watched was anime and...well. When he cited an animated hottie, people tended to get weirded out.

"Uh." So. Old favorites then. He floundered for something, anything, as he punched in information, and then his expression clicked. "Felicia Day, maybe."

Was the Guild even still on the air? The fact that he hadn't checked yet made Veer go guilty, shaking his head and trying to think more. "Or, uh, oh, maybe Jenson Ackles. Never go wrong there."

He looked up, at that, offering the tablet back, and flashed a grin. "What, do I get customized half-naked eye-candy?"

Holy Blasphemy
it's cool XD

Leo nodded approvingly at Veer’s choices as he took back the tablet.

“ Good taste. And who knows, maybe! I do like rewarding people when they’ve earned.” He smiled and gave a sort shooing wave. “ Off you go my pretty. Ask the other employers if they’ll provide eye candy!”

Unlikely, that looking at the mediocre turnout -- Veer shook his head, grinning at Leo again as he took a step back. He'd put his name in the hat, and maybe, as an insider, he'd get a recommendation from his superiors. He was pretty sure Quinn would vouch for him.

Pretty sure, but not certain.

He waved and went, stealing a pastry off a table as he went to eat on his way.

Holy Blasphemy
If you do need any coders/IT guys, lemme know, I am down for having Veer work places. XD

For a minute Jonah was prepared to turn around and bolt when the woman at the booth looked up to speak to him, but he forced himself to stand his ground and continued to stare at her with a half-desperate, half-stricken, completely nervous and partially paranoid look on his face.

“Um...” he said, and shifted on his feet uncomfortably.

Now that he'd taken the plunge and approached someone, he had no idea what the best course of action was.

Should he ask about her store? Or should he begin talking about himself and his interests? Should he perhaps demonstrate his minimal skills in the hopes that this young woman would be impressed? No, no, he didn't even know how he was supposed to do that, so it was probably best not to even try. He'd likely just end up making a fool out of himself. What if they weren't even hiring? Maybe they didn't need the help and only had a booth set up for a little advertising.

“Um...” he said again, taking a few hesitant steps forward in the hopes that closer proximity would encourage him to converse. But his efforts proved an absolute failure when all he could manage to say was, “I... I like books.”

^.^ im not much better dear XD

Jessie watched as the young man shifted back and forth uncomfortably. It seemed like he was just as nervous in this setting as Jessie would have been had she been in his place. When she was younger she had issues with speaking up and when she did rambling on and on so she smiled softly and waited to see what the young man would do. Besides she still didn't like public speaking which is what this felt like.

"Thats great. What types? Favorite Authors? Do you have a book that you would recommend to others?" These were all pretty standard questions she asked her potential employees so she fell back on them. Since the young man had not yet asked about a possession Jessie was a bit on a loss as to what to do. They were at a job fare so it was logical that he was looking for a job but it wouldn't be the first time that Jessie was wrong by thinking about the logical solution.

“Oh... um... I like... historical non-fiction,” Jonah replied, trying to raise his voice high enough to be heard over the noise of the crowd, but he couldn't be sure he did a good enough job. “I have a lot of works on Henry VIII and... the Wars of the Roses, and... and the Crusades. Things like that. Um... the complete works of Shakespeare, and... and sometimes I'll read fiction. I, uh... really liked Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian... and Anya Seton's K-Katherine...”

Jonah's face flushed red when he realized he'd just admitted to enjoying a classic romance novel. He swallowed down a nervous lump in his throat and focused at his feet instead of looking the young woman in the eye.

“I... um... I was wondering,” he stuttered, “if... you know... if you were hiring...”

Despite staying for a while, the event was still running by time Marlin finally started to pack up his stand. He didn’t see the point in staying right down to the wire. It had been pretty much quiet all day and he wasn’t anticipating a huge influx of people suddenly coming in.

Besides only one person had shown even a vague interest and Marlin wasn’t sure the other actually wanted the job.

As he carefully packed away the last of the display costumes, Marlin mused on what to do with the rest of the day. It was too late to realistically open up the shop for what was left of the day which meant that he suddenly had an afternoon to himself – well he would once he finished packing everything where it should once he got back.

It didn’t take long for him to settle on what to do, with an afternoon up on his balcony puttering about with the tomato plants sounding like a much better end to what was left of his afternoon.
