"Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones. But you still have to choose"

When Euphemia looked around anxiously for an idea, anything that could get them to the prince unseen, the Doctor never expected her to use what she knew and get him to unintentionally use the Sonic Screwdriver. When she first grabbed his wrist and pointing the device at the metal barrels he almost gasped and called her out but after he saw what she had caused he looked wide-eyed like an own. "Ah!" he suddenly said, then gawking at her, "That wasn't what I meant, you were meant to knock them out or something!" he did his best to stay quiet. After his surprise and childish anger that she didn't do what he planned was over, she told him to "go!". The Doctor hesitated for a moment before adding "still, good thinking!".

The two of them ran to the side of the building and found a back door into the palace, he pulled out his device and let it buzz at the keyhole and the sound of the digital locks unlocking could be heard. "Thank goodness they're not made of wood" the Doctor said, pulling the door open and pushing her inside before closing it behind them. They eventually found themselves running through corridors, as always, the Doctor always ran. He would quickly change his direction at each corner, once or twice even pulling a complete 180 and waving his arms about as he realised the proper direction, "This way!" he whispered loudly one time in particular, and even though she was following him he had the nerve to say "What you going that way for! That ways obviously wrong!"

It wasn't long until they came to a set of double doors around one corner, and as the Doctor ran round it he saw the two guards waiting beside the doors. He quickly swung around and ran back into the corner, grabbing Euphemia by the arm and tugging her against the wall. He breathed in deeply and sighed, "two more, why can't this ever be easy". It was then that he looked down the corridor they came from and saw a set of drawers made from solid wood. He had an idea. Without saying anything he began to start tugging on it, looking like an old decrepid man doing his best to pull something too heavy across the ground, but he was managing it! He did it ever so slowly and quietly until it was in the middle of the corridor, he then pointed to Euphemia and whispered "You, leg". He crept up to her and suddenly ducked, pulling her right leg out and putting it on its heel before her, when he stood back up he said "keep it there" and ran into plain sight of the guards. He flailed his arms up high and said "Hey, you!" in a a thick Scottish accent, "tin-men! Look!" he stared across with eyes like an owl, "I broke in!". They suddenly turned to him and began to chase him, ordering him to halt, but he turned the corner and jumped over Euphemia's foot and stood behind the drawers. They came round the corner just as fast btu didn't see Euphemia, who, without meaning to, tripped up the guards. their heads bashed on the piece of furniture and knocked them unconscious for the time being. "Perfect, I love it when things go as planned". He brushed down his coat and walked up to the double set of doors, they were painted black and had gold patterns around the outside, the doorknobs were solid gold. He turned it and opened the door, across the room on a lush double bed that sunk down when you sat on it was the one and only Arwren Gaues, staring back at him with a raised brow, there was a moment of silence as the Doctor let Euphemia step in, he seemed pleased, but Arwren on the other hand did not. After a few moments, the Lord Commander said "You better have a good reason for making me do all of this" seeming less than impressed.

"Could you not just let me enjoy this moment of not knowing? It happens to rarely."

Euphemia

The Doctor was ready to lash out on her when he saw her distraction pull through. Still he corrected her actions by implying that she was meant to attack them even though she was far from being a warrior. Maybe if there wasn't a squadron of guards she would have better luck taking them down. The Doctor was like a child scorning her over something so trivial which made her roll her eyes as they took off. However, he changed his mood pretty quickly by randomly congratulating her which caused her to be more confused. Why is he such an enigma? she proclaimed her in mind. Sneaking around to a back entrance, the Doctor got out his trusty sonic screwdriver and decoded the lock from the inside. She stared at the device in fascination as he admitted that he was relieved of it not being wood. "Why? It works on other materials so why not-" before she could finished her was shoved roughly into the building.

"Hey! You don't have to be rude!" she whispered angrily while following him down the corridor. Obviously, he has no idea where he was heading because every few corners he would turn back. On top of that, he blamed her for his lack of direction!? Euphemia was being to get fed up with his antics, but she needed to stay determined for the prince's sake. Eventually, they stopped at a large set of doubled doors at the end of the hall. They were painted a slick black with gold trimming on creases of the frame. From the way is was decorated there was no doubt that this was the prince's quarters. Ahead of her, the Doctor had spotted two guards patrolling the halls and turned back grabbing and dragging her away. She pulled away irritated once he loosened his grip and yet her rage under control. At the end of the corridor, two dressers were conveniently placed, and without much communication the Doctor decided to move them. He was seriously strong for an older man, but then again, she did help him as much as she could. Good thing the floors were polished marble or else the dresser would be making a lot of noise right about now.

Once it was in the position he wanted it, they concealed themselves behind it until he gestured to her leg. "What about it?" she asked only to have him manhandle her. Propping her leg out accordingly, he ran out to get the guards attention. Like imbeciles, they pursued him and tripped over her exposed leg. She twitched at the weight of them impacting her leg and if they would have gone any faster they probably would have broke it. There would be a bruise there tomorrow, but it wouldn't be as bad as the guards concussions. The Doctor straightened himself up as the two walked up to the doors and opened them. Instantly, from across the spacious room, sat the prince nonchalantly on his bed. Euphemia blushed at the sight of Arwren's beautiful hair, smooth complexion, and vibrant eyes. When the Doctor stepped in though, the princes was far from pleased and revealed that he knew him! If this was planned then what was the risk!? Euphemia whipped around and shouted, "How do you two know each other!? And what is all this about!?"

"Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones. But you still have to choose"

As soon as Euphemia shouted out at the two of them, both of the men in the room rushed over to her to get her to be quiet! Arwren stopped half way across the room because of the Doctor already on top of her. He put a finger up to his lips and said "Shut up, shut up, shut up!" before looking around mysteriously, waiting for a guard to come running but sighing when they were safe. "Are you trying to get us killed?!"
"Doctor - who is this?" Arwren asked. In that moment the Doctor found himself standing between two confused individuals that had to be told what was going on. "Well, long story. Well, not for her" he said pointing to Euphemia, "long story about him though" he said pointing to Arwren and looking to Euphemia. "This is a girl i found outside, she looked like she wanted to help, and I thought, why not?!" and then he introduced Arwren as "And this is'prince' Arwren Gaues something or other who commands-"
"I am Arwren Gaues, Lord Commander of the Asmodius Corps and ruler of the Red City". The Doctor pulled a "not bad" expression whilst also seeming uninterested. As for what was going on, the Doctor finally explained himself. "Ah, well. I've brought you two together because there is someone out there, right now, that we need to save. Why now? Well to be perfectly honest the TARDIS skipped a few centuries and refuses to go back to a more useful time period. But back to the boy, he is the heir to your throne."
"So that's why you made me fake being an heir!"
"Exactly"
"Do you have ANY idea how frustrating it is to be considered royalty!" Arwren began, but the Doctor seemed to rolled his eyes, "Doctor! I've been followed everywhere, questioned everyday! I can't even see my own family!"
"Well I'm sorry I truly am but not for much longer eh?! Now come on, both of you!" The Doctor said, Arwren looked to Euphemia as if to be asking "how the hell do you deal with this man". But then the Doctor said something that surprised him. "To Ar'bek-zul!"

Arwren was suddenly silent, and staring the Doctor and said "You have to be joking, right?". The Doctor looked confused too, and said "...No?"
"You're, not joking?"
"No why would I be joking I said Ar'bek-zul not Skaro! No daleks in Ar-"
"Ar'bek-zul is a wasteland" there was a brief pause and silence in the air as Arwren looked between the two of them. Arwren explained with a sad expression "Ar'bek-Zul fell to disease and famine in the 8th century, over a thousand years ago"

Euphemia

Both men hushed her forcibly, the Doctor more so than Arwren, and he scorned her for trying to get them killed. Euphemia swatted his finger away from her lips and glared at him defending herself. "I thought there was no risk? You two have a lot of explaining to do." she demanded. Arwren asked the Doctor whom she was and before she could introduce herself the old gentleman was pointing at them and stating confusing rants. Apparently, the prince's story is complicated while the Doctor acknowledges her as the stray turtle he found on the side of the road. He went on to explain Arwren's false position himself, but the Lord Commander of Asmodius Corps introduced himself to her formerly. Her eyes widened surprised that he was nothing more than a stand in for the real thing, but he was still charming. More charming than the cranky old Doctor anyway. As the albino got ready to make his acquaintance, the Doctor moved on to more important matters revealing his true agenda. So he called upon their assistance to save the real heir to the throne. Plus, the TARDIS is stuck until then so basically he has no other choice.

Arwren couldn't take it any longer and announced his frustrations of pretending to be royal. The fact that he missed his family would explain why he was so distraught earlier. Even though he wasn't noble, his occupation seemed high enough to get her to the summit if she helped him in return. The Doctor ignored his whines for compassion and Arwren turned to her hoping she would understand which she did by shrugging. Now they were to set off for a new land, Ar'bek-zul to which Arwen was far from happy about. After much arguing, he informed the Doctor that the place was a wasteland that crumbled from decease and famine many years ago. Euphemia looked to the Doctor concerned, "What makes you think he would be there? Doctor are you sure you know what you are doing? Can I trust you?" she backed away unsure of what to think.

"Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones. But you still have to choose"

During his bewildered confusion over the fate of Ar'bek-Zul, the Doctor had given Euphemia time to actually speak her mind and get his full attention. To her first question he simply stared at her with a face filled with guilt, and he said "... because I left him there". That was when she asked if he knew what he was doing, and if he could be trusted, to which he raised one very bold brow. He watched her take a few steps abck, as if he was the monster, and it made him feel so cold. He shook his head slowly, thinking how he was the saviour, how he was the one that everybody usually looked to. And in this very same moment this young girl seemed quite familiar too, but it felt wrong that she was acting this way... she should be happier to see him. "Of coarse you can trust me, you'd be stupid if you didn't!" he retaliated, turning around as he began pacing and holding his chin with his hands. Arwren became frustrated, and throwing a hand before him he asked "So do you mean to say that the only remaining heir to the throne of Asmodius and all of the united realms of Occulas is dead? Again?!"
"No no no no!" the Doctor rejected, not looking at them during his pace but flapping a hand at them to throw back their comments, "He's frozen in time nothing can happen to him we just need to go in there and get him out"
"Go to Ar'bek-Zul? Are you kidding? That place isn't only dead, its home to giant sandstorms and anomalies around this time every year. What do you suppose we do if we find ourselves in trouble?" Arwren asked, but that was when the Doctor slowly looked to Euphemia and Arwren and said "we run."

The infamous words were said, and its all the Doctor ever does. And he'll just keep going until he can't go any more, but even then... he'll keep going.

Euphemia

With a twinge of guilt in his eyes, he admitted that he abandoned the boy there some time ago. She wanted to believe he had his reasons and hated herself for the way she was treating him. His methods may be unorthodox and he's rather rude, but his intentions have to be good. Finally, he exclaimed an answer that actually made her laugh because of how much confidence he had in himself. The Doctor began to pace around in thought as Arwren let his temper get the best of him assuming the prince is dead. In fact, he is still alive but frozen in time and all they need to do was pull him out. The Doctor was very certain about this as he tried to persuade Arwren with his jittery movements.

The golden haired male hysterically explained the dangers of the terrain and asked how they were going to get themselves out of trouble. She was thinking the same thing as the Doctor and smirked when he said the words. "If you're true to your word, Doctor, then we should probably get out of here. We've got a boy to save." she headed to the door.

Euphemia suddenly surprised the Doctor, instead of judging him on what she doesn't know or letting his insults get the better of her she suggested they do as he originally asked. She smirked at his last comment, and it made him raise a brow. What she said then caused him to grin, and he proudly replied "That's more like it!" he then turned to Arwren and said "that's what I brought her!" pointing back at her. Clapping his hands together and rubbing them against each other he began concocting the plan. Thinking out loud he said "Right, we need to get back to the TARDIS and get to Ar'bek-Zul ASAP, then we get the boy, bring him back here. Explain a few things and give this place it's royalty back. Questions?!"
"Yes." Arwren added, "Once we find him, how exactly are we going to tell him what's become of his city and the time that's passed?"
"We'll think of something that doesn't matter yet! Let's go." The Doctor then brushed past and began to exit.

((time skip back to the TARDIS?))

I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm.
And the scars that mark my body, they’re silver and gold,
My blood is a flood of emeralds, precious stones,
It keeps my veins hot, the fire's found a home in me.
I move through town, I’m quiet like a fight,
And my necklace is of rope, I tie it and untie.

Lottie opened the door to her private room with a sigh and closed it behind her with little less than a small creek to make sure no one heard her. Her feet were surprisingly light on the old wooden floor, like a vampire walking through the dead of the night. "What a waste of a night" she whispered to herself, plonking her small figure on the desk and chair to look up in the mirror, the morning was coming in and the golden morning rays were shining through her window where she heard the strange groans last night before she left. Looking at her own reflection she looked deeply into her eyes, played with her hair a little then huffed, "What i'd do for skin like this all the time" and rolling her eyes. Little did she know whilst she was on her secret trip away from Euphemia, she was also away for the night.

The Doctor and Euphemia had managed to calm down Osyris, and after some time and proof of what had happened to his golden city he hesitantly agreed to follow Arwren into the palace and attempt royal life. Soon Osyris would become the boy who is the only surviving heir to the throne, the boy that cannot rule yet, but one day in the future may take it up. For now, it was down to Arwren to convince the Guildeam. The Doctor on the other hand brought Euphemia back not an hour or two after the moment they had left. He told her to stay away from the palace, or she might end up walking into her past self and causing major problems in the timeline. But before he said his final goodbye he said "This isn't goodbye" with a strange smile, "and I'm pretty sure you know this wasn't our first encounter too. I'll see you soon hey? Perhaps under a thousand moons, or next to a maniac who looks like a skeleton. Or... maybe it will be under a Ruby sun."

This is the start of how it all ends
They used to shout my name, now they whisper it
I’m speeding up and this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart

Euphemia

In one night, Euphemia had been on the adventure of a life time. Meeting new people, saving a prince, and restoring a kingdom to its rightful balance which is left to Arwren to finish the job. She knows he'll persuade the Guildeam and Osyris will rule with a earnest heart over his people for generations to come. The Doctor and her took one last trip together through time and arrived back to the same time and place this madness all started. Climbing off the TARDIS was like leaving a second home and she found that saying goodbye is harder than she thought. However, to her surprise, the Doctor reassured her that this isn't their last goodbye and deep down she believed them. After all, he was able to manipulate time at will so seeing into the future is no difficult task. Suddenly, the old owl dropped a hint about her previous life and their first encounter entered her mind as clear as day. The way he talked was nostalgic in some since and he even mentioned events that slowly hazed over in her mind. Although, she was shocked to hear the last bit because that word...no that name, Ruby, stuck a cord with her. Before she could say anything, the man had retreated to his TARDIS and took off with a rumbling exit. As the wind and dust settled, she smiled and said, "See you soon, Doctor."

Going back inside the building, she stumbled up to the room yawning and opened the door quietly. She walked like a zombie over to her bed and flopped down closing her eyes for second which turned into a few hours. She awoke with a start before remembering where she was again and got up to find Cardy. Since the Doctor reversed time, Euphemia doesn't think Cardy ever knew that she left or even cared. She still had her suspicions about the girl and it grew like a wall separating them. "Cardy?" she called out casually.

Before she could think anymore about her night of failed expectations she heard the dulcet tones of Euphemia calling out her name, moving to the do she opened it with a smile "Hey! I hope you had a good sleep, I could hear nothing but the sound of groaning machinery during the night. Either way however, I think I found our next destination!"

Euphemia

Cardy greeted her with a smile, probably fake, but she went along with it anyway. The sounds at night kept her up, but luckily she didn't investigate leaving Euphemia in the clear. "Sorry about that. Next time we'll find a quieter place to sleep. Anyway, let's get moving."
