Yormeth was most happy, though it seemed S'dar was not quite as happy as he was. I wonder what is going on in there, he said.
Meanwhile, S'dar didn't feel like arguing with the MasterWeaver about the importance of tradition, not when the contract wasn't written out yet. Besides, such arguments were better saved for the weyrlings and candidates.
"I shall go, then," S'dar said. "Thank you for your time. I look forward to seeing your fine craftsmanship."

"It was good to meet you, Bluerider S'dar. As always, I am grateful for the dragonriders who protect our skies. I know where my Duty lies. And I shall take joy in this task, I enjoy a good challenge."
Signaling that he was done with the conversation, the MasterWeaver turned to his desk. A scrawny apprentice appeared at the door and gave a bow to both of the men in the room.
"You have been eavesdropping again, Samly."
The scrawny bowed blushed a bright red and started to stammer.
"Never mind. Write up the contract with Bluerider S'dar and then report down to the kitchens. You are on cleaning duty."

((He ain't been droppin' no eaves, sir! Honest! rofl ))
Having thus finished the conversation, S'dar turned to Samly, privately wondering what exactly the lad had heard. But no matter...this business was nearly finished, and he could go back the the Weyr and relax for a while.
"We have agreed that I, Bluerider S'dar, shall pay 20 Smith marks to the MasterWeaver for the creation of a riding jacket with a blue dragon on the pocket and back." S'dar explained. "It will, I understand, take a couple of sevendays for it to be complete, but I shall have it before the Fall." He paused for a moment. "That is, if the Fall is exactly on time. Better not write that last part about me having it before the Fall, lad. Just the couple of sevendays. I'd not have the MasterWeaver responsible for the business of the Weyrleaders."

Samly nodded, obviously in awe of the blue rider, and began to take mental notes on the contract. "Yessir, I will have it all written out. Two copies, one for you and one for the MasterWeaver."
He was nervous, afraid of disappointing either of the men. Moving back out of the room and towards a smaller room on the side, Samly went it. It was plainly furnished but all of good quality. A stack of paper sat on a plain desk. Sliding into his seat, the boy began to write out the contracts.
"Is it nice, having a dragon?" He barely stuttered out.

S'dar smiled. Ah, so this was one of the ones who liked dragons. This could get interesting, should circumstances ever call for an easily-manipulated Weaver apprentice. But definitely not now, when the MasterWeaver was in plain view.
"It certainly makes life interesting and richer," S'dar said. "Obviously everything has its downsides; it is tough work, caring for a dragon. but I can't even begin to imagine life without my Yormeth. We are, of course, honored to protect the skies of Pern for everyone. Stay true to all jobs before you, and who knows what the future may hold for you, lad."

Meekar flopped down and closed his eyes. His owner had been with the other for a long time. At least a long time in his little mind. Hissing in frustration, he showed pictures of wanting to be with his owner but not wanting to sit.
Samly gaped up at what the blue rider said to him. Finishing up the contracts, he pushed them towards the rider and the MasterWeaver. He was old enough to act as witness though his face looked very young.

Patience, little one, Yormeth said. I think they're almost done. S'dar...mine...seems to be nearly ready to leave. It had been rather fun, but Yormeth wanted to stretch on his ledge instead of the courtyard.
The blue rider looked over the contracts carefully. "This is fine penmanship, lad," S'dar said. Turning to the MasterWeaver, he said, "As long as you agree that he can be a witness, sir, I believe we can sign now."

The MasterWeaver signed his name with flourish though his eyes remained cool and distant. He could hear something in S'dar's voice, the way he talked to Samly... Not that it was wrong or cruel, just unusual. Handing the sheets over to the blue rider, he waited for the other signature.
Meekar's eyes picked up in speed, reading off of his owner's emotions. Chittering angrily, the brown flit looked over at Yormeth and gave a sort of goodbye. He then went between and came out promptly above Emoraan's head. Settling on the MasterWeaver's shoulder, he ignored S'dar and Samly.

S'dar's signature, like S'dar himself, had much flourish but not much substance to it. The rider made it look enough like his name for it to be recognized as his name, but it was still rather sloppy. "There, it's settled," S'dar said as he looked up and saw...a firelizard? When had it come in?
Yormeth wondered at his little friend's sudden disappearance, and shook his head. S'dar is up to something that they noticed, apparently. I wonder what human he's trying to influence now.

"I will have Samly take your measurements and then I will begin work on your gear. It was a pleasure to meet you, Rider S'dar. Give my regards to your dragon and to your Weyrleaders."
Taking his copy of the contract, the MasterWeaver looked sternly at Samly. "Do not forget about the kitchens."
And then, ther older man left and returned back to his rooms. After all, he now had a new order to start working on. He would need good leather and his son's eye for color.
Samly muttered his prompt answer about the kitchens and then turned back to S'dar. "Here you go, sir. Your measurements will not take long and then I can let you go. Thank you for all the compliments, sir."

"I shall be certain to do so." S'dar said as he took his copy of the contract.
After the MasterWeaver left, S'dar turned his full attention to Samly. "You are welcome, lad. Keep up the good work, and always do the duty you were assigned to the best of your ability. Everyone has to start in the kitchens, even me." He then stood still for the lad to take his measurements. He had to restrain himself so the lad wouldn't get too suspicious. Apprentices became journeymen, or candidates. Journeymen became Masters, and candidates sometimes became dragonriders. All of those paths were good careers, and it would be useful for S'dar to have a "friend" in any of those areas.

((skipping ahead a couple of weeks... wish we could get into a threadfall rp event soon...))
Meekar popped out of the air into Yormeth's weyr. He had a very strong visual of the blue and was chittering even as he settled near the blue. Holding out his leg, he hopped around and waited for an answer.

Yormeth was dozing, but the chittering firelizard quickly woke him up. He eyed Meekar momentarily before recognition set in. Hello again, little one, he said. S'dar, I think you have a message.
"A message?" the rider asked, walking toward Yormeth and the unfamiliar firelizard. "Who did you invite to this weyr, Yorm?"
This is a Weaverhall firelizard. I think you should take message from his leg, if he'll let you.

((*cries as she curses work*))
Never stopping the chittering, Meekar obediently held up its leg. It gave a strong impression of the WeaverHall and of Emoraan. Trying to look at S'dar and Yormeth at the same time, the little flit become confused about why he was there.
MasterWeaver Emoraan sat in his chair in his rooms waiting. He had asked discreetly, over the past couple of sevendays about this S'dar. Apparently, a very strong Traditionalist but nothing overly stood out about him. Hopefully, Meekar would return soon to him.

((Awww...poor Naree))
S'dar took the note from the firelizard and read it carefully. "My jacket is complete!" he exclaimed to Yormeth.
The dragon appeared bored. Okay... he said.
S'dar grabbed a convieniently nearby writing utensil and scribbled a reply on the back of the note before he put it back in the firelizard's message tube. After that, he started scrambling to find suitable gear to wear in between.
You can go home now, little one, Yormeth said. We'll probably be here for a short while before we leave.
