Yaholo didn't know quite what to do with himself as he watched Tahigwa talk to the woman on the bed. Was this really his mother? She looked so fragile! He gazed around the hallway as he thought, was he the cause of her illness...? Green eyes filled with doubt until Ilyra grabbed onto his hand, causing him to squeak. "Whoa, hey, wai-" He paused, leaning over the side of the bed where his mother lay gazing up at him. His heart beat fluttered and pounded against his chest as he tried to gather his thoughts. What would he say? What should he say? This was all so much and all so sudden and, and, gaaaah! He had to say something!
"Yaholo, hello, name, uh, MOM...?" He stammered out. Damn it, great way to make a first impression on your own mother, speaking nonsense! She'll think you're a freaking lunatic now!

Tahigwa stared at Yaholo as he peered over their mother's bedside and arched an eyebrow. Wasn't he going to say anything? Did he lose his brain on the way over here? Jeez, bro, say something! A moment later, Yaholo blurted out his bucket of nonsense, and it instantly made her start giggling.
"Haaa! 'Holo, you're so funny!" She cackled, whacking him on his shoulder, before turning her mother again. "I told you I found him! Do you see him?!"
Tahigwa's mother leaned forward in her bed and raised a hand to caress Yaholo's cheek. Her expression wiggled around from perplexed to concerned before it settled on a contemplative look. Then, after a moment of silence, she began to laugh.
"You certainly defied all odds, my rebel!" She exclaimed, fluffing Tahigwa's dreads. "This is certainly your older brother!" Tears filled her eyes then, her hand moving to touch Yaholo's hair again. "You sound exactly like your father... He said pretty much the same thing when he met me..."

Ilyra smiled at the little reunion that she had helped happen. She couldn't wait to get home to tell Briella! Tahigwa's, and well Yaholo's too, mother was so happy to have them together! Maybe now she would get all better. Ilyra fidgeted there in the corner. Not really sure what to do. Maybe it was time for her to leave, but it was still early and she didn't want to go home...
She laughed at Yaholo, he was such a funny one. She could see how he and Tahigwa were related. They didn't look a like, but they were the same in many ways.

Yaholo was dumbfounded. He sounded like his father?! The crazy guy that jumps in his room at ungodly hours to go hunting for no apparent reason?! ...That was such an amazing compliment! He felt proud to be called similar to his father! Cusick was a great man! His mother must see some level of good in him, and she just met him! Tears formed in his eyes and rolled down his cheeks.
"I've waited so long to meet you!" He cried, sitting down next to Tahigwa. "Tell me EVERTHING! How did you meet dad? Was he crazy? Did he burst of the forests like some sort of animal and scare you?!" He paused, blushing. "...'Cause he does that pretty much every morning before we go hunting..."

Tahigwa's mother couldn't help but start cackling. Her son was quite the character! Just as she had always hoped, considering the type of upbringing she had to endure. His father must've helped foster his sense of humor!
"Oh, no! He was very kind!" She exclaimed, giggling. "He helped me patch up a tarp during one of his treks, but he ended up ripping it further! Such a klutz, he was!"
While Yaholo and her mother chatted, Tahigwa hopped off the bed and wandered over to where Ilyra stood and put her arm around her. "We did it!" She squealed. "I've been waiting for this day to happen for so long and now, together, WE DID IT!" She bounced up and down. "What's to stop us from doing other awesome things like this?!"

Ilyra watched Yaholo talk with his mom, it was nice, like he had never even been gone. Then Tahigwa came back to where she was and Ilyra hugged her. "I know! I can hardly believe us! I mean of course we pulled it off, it's us, but it's so wonderful! Oh we are going to do millions of amazing things! The older we go, the more stories they will tell about it. It will be AMAZING." she said excitedly. Now more then ever she couldn't wait to grow up. With Tahigwa at her side she could see many adventures.

"Yeah! We'll be the greatest explorers this world has ever seen!" Tahigwa squealed, snuggling Ilyra. They would go to the beach! They would be the first Younglings of their village to travel to Zena and climb mountains! The would tower above all the rest, arm in arm, grinning and searching for one adventure after another!
"What should we do first after this great accomplishment?!" She gasped, her eyed growing wide. "We should go climb the trees in Tale! I heard they're all twisty and you live in tree houses! Wouldn't that be AWESOME?!"

Yaholo, though still wrapped up in meeting his mother, turned his attention straight to Tahigwa and Ilyra as they were planning their adventures. "Now, girls," He began, lowering himself from the bed and kneeling to their level. "I know you two want to go out and explore the world, but it's too dangerous for Younglings to go out on their own." He paused, ruffling their hair. "Once you're older, you'll be allowed to explore much more and can even go as far as, say, Zena, when you so choose. For now..." He stood and looked to his mother, smiling. "It's best that you stay home where you're the safest."
"Listen to Yaholo, girls." Tahigwa's mother said, nodding along with her son. "It may not be fun to be here, I know that from experience, but once you're older and can protect yourselves easier, you can do so much more than just climb trees and live in tree houses."

Ilyra nodded excitedly with Tahigwa. Yes! Tale would be so much fun to explore! And she had never been there before! She snuggled up to Tahigwa. They were the most awesome best friend and explores out there! When Yaholo started to speak she smiled at him. "That's why you and mom can come with us." she said in a matter of the fact tone. Briella already told her that they would go get treasures. When Tahigwa's and Yaholo's mother spoke she nodded. What she didn't know what that she was already learning to protect herself, and Tahigwa would be able to also when she got her spear! They would be the most powerful girls out there! No one would have to worry about protecting them.

"Oh, yeah! Your mom!" Tahigwa exclaimed. Briella had agreed to show them around EVERYTHING outside of Jauhar, in fact, SHE PROMISED! They would find all the treasure this world had to offer! They would adorn themselves in the finest ancient stones! They would be the best explorers ever! No one could stop them!
"Didn't she say she was going to make me a spear, too?" She asked.

Yaholo tilted his head to the side as Ilyra spoke about her mother going along with them on their adventure and how he was supposed to tag along, too. Sure, he'd go adventuring with them, but with an elder Alkidike watching his every move? He wasn't certain he could go along with that idea. He shifted his position to look towards his mother again, arching his eyebrow.
"Do you think this is all a good idea?" He asked, arching his eyebrow.
His mother laughed and patted him on the head, before nodding furiously.
"Yes! I trust the young woman that cares for Ilyra very much!" She said, winking. "It would be terrible if you didn't go along with them! She's quite a pretty girl, too!"
Yaholo blinked. Oh, so this "mother" was about his age...? Well, maybe he could go along. However, as his mother winked at him as if to say he should consider this adventure as a way to meet a prospective partner, he flushed bright red and wiggled towards Tahigwa and Ilyra.
"Nonsense, mother!" He exclaimed, waving his hands about. "This adventure would not reach beyond the threshold of friendship! Nothing more, nothing less!"

Ilyra hit herself on her head. "I FORGOT YOUR SPEAR!! I had it with me, but then when I saw your brother I forgot it!" she said shaking her head. How could she forget something so important! Silly her.
When their mother called her pretty Ilyra smiled and nodded. "She is pretty! The prettiest mommy out there. Well, your very pretty also." she said realizing that there was another mommy in the room with them. She blushed. First she forgot the spear and now she was insulting Yaholo's and Tahigwa's mother! She need to pull herself together!

Tahigwa rolled her eyes and giggled at Ilyra. "Don't worry about it!" She laughed, fluffing Ilyra's hair. "I'm too little to use it anyway. She has to teach me, too!" She didn't know the first thing about handling a spear, but she figured it was like throwing a big stick or something. Briella would have to show her the correct way.
"Mooom! Yaholo's a maaale Alkidike!" She said, sticking her tongue out. "He probably likes boys, silly!"

Tahigwa's mother laughed and reached down to pat Ilyra's head. Sometimes children were just too cute! She had always wanted more than Yaholo and Tahigwa, but her damned sickness! She couldn't move!
"Thank you, dear." She chuckled. "But I'm assured your mother looks much healthier than I do."
The Tahigwa made her comment about Yaholo's possible sexual preference, and started to cackle. "MY WORD TAHIGWA!" She howled. "Who taught you such wit?!"
Yaholo's face was now as red as a tomato. He knew he wanted to reply to that statement, with every fiber of his being, but couldn't find the words to do so. He remained silent, seemingly shut off from the rest of the conversation, until a subtle whine escaped his lips.
"Very funny... Yeah..." He mumbled. Couldn't he catch a break anywhere he went?

She smiled at their mother, happy to be pet by her. Normally that wasn't something she would like. But this was different. This woman was special! "I have lessons on most days, so you should come by sometime! Mom would love to teach you, and you could meet the Wise one!" she remained calling Dyakida that since the first time that Briella told her about the sister.
She watched as Tahigwa talked about who Yaholo would like, and then both his and their mother's response. "I think he likes girl Alkidikes. Or maybe other halfs like him? After all, that's the prettiest kind of people. OR MAYBE BECAUSE HE'S BOTH HE LIKES BOTH!" she said excitedly. That made perfect sense to her!
