Thankful that the boy wasn't going to just sit there in a petrified stance she shouldered her weapon turned and scooped the boy up as she ran alongside with him. The extra weight would slow her down, should she abandon the weapon to get the boy to safety? But she may need it later and she already lost her hammer once in this blasted forest she wasn't going to do it again.

Hitching the boy onto her hip she ran if awkwardly away from the kifna. She wasn't stupid at least, the bird was intent on either killing her or at least driving her away. Kifna's didn't normally act with such aggression so the boy must of really pissed it off somehow. Reminding herself that now was not the time to be asking she continued to run until she felt her breath burn in her lungs, her head spin from the blood still oozing from the wound on her head, neck and shoulder.

When she stumbled she knew she was going to have to stop and only prayed that the bird hadn't followed them this far. Leaning against a tree she looked over her shoulder to see if the bird had followed and with a thud dropped her weapon to the ground beside her before slowly easing the boy in her grasp to the floor as well. She was in no condition to be running around like this..and when the adrenaline wearing off she felt light headed and dizzy.

A hand came up to her forhead as she sunk herself to the forest floor trying to catch her breath and her thoughts. When she felt that the world was no longer threatening to spin she looked to the boy, his dirty tear streaked face and sighed.

"What are you doing out here? By yourself? What did you do to that bird to make it so angry?" She demanded not to kindly but more in a scolding sort of fashion.

The boy clung to Keilana for dear life as she ran through the forest and away from the infuriated beast. His eyes were slammed shut with fear of falling off and away from Keilana and back to the Kinfa.

When they finally stopped running and Keilana put the boy down, he continued to reach up for her, not wanting the safety of her arms away from him for long. The boy seemed to pucker up at the mention of how this all came to be. He sniffed and brought his hands back to his eyes and burst into tears.

The Kinfa seemed to think that following them wasn't at the top of its priorities and could be heard cawing and flapping in the opposite direction, probably making more problems for the other animals of Tale.

"I... I want my mommyyyyyyy!" The boy's last word turned into a harsh wail, the realization sinking in that he had his life, but was just as terrified at not finding his mother.

The sound of the child wailing for its mother was enough to cause her head to ache. After all she had risked her hide to save the child but now it was back to being full of fear and crying. She supposed she should be more patient but given she was pulled into this situation by hearing a rather loud screeching kifna. A lot of question ran through her mind, like demanding to know why the bird was after the boy in the first place.

About to ask him that very question and she flinched as the kid suddenly started to wail. Okay so it hadn't been good enough to save his hide...he wanted his mother. A sigh escaped her as she looked him over then slowly reached out to grab a hold of of the young boy and pull him to her chest. Grudgingly she couldn't be THAT annoyed with him, he was young his mother or parents rather were missing and he just had a major scare with that attacking Kifna.

"Its okay...calm down. SHhhhh.." She tried her best to recall how her own mother comforted her when she was little. Rubbing his back slowly to help ease the sobbing. "Its okay....tell me...where did you see her last?"

The boy's loud sobs turned to quiet sniffling and shaking as Keilana consoled the young boy. He gripped Keilana's clothes tightly in whatever area he could reach. He didn't know who this woman was, but she reminded him of Mama, and that was a good thing. He hiccuped softly as his fears began to subside and he came to whatever sense a three year old would have.

Pulling away from Keilana slightly, he put a hand on her cheek, now covered in blood from her wound, and looked up at her with large green eyes. "I... I -hic- dunno..." He looked heart broken and squeezed his eyes shut in thought. "I... in the forest I think..." He didn't know where he had seen his mother last, everything was hazy.

He looked Keilana in the eyes. "Can you take me -hic- home? Mommy might be there..." He rubbed his eyes with his clenched fists.

As it was right now she was too exhausted to drag herself off the ground, she had lost a lot of blood and the world was trying to swim before her eyes. Rubbing the boy's back again to make sure he didn't burst into tears once more she tried to think through her fog.

His description wasn't exactly detailed, in fact it was so vague she couldn't help but groan.

"Your going to have to ..." She started but found she had to put a hand to her forehead. She needed water...something. "Help me. I will help you find you mommy, but I need water...do you think you can help with that?" When she found the mother she swore she was going to yell at her. Sure she didn't know the whole story but one would think a woman who's child went missing would be out looking for him.

Then there was that thought, what if she was out looking for him? Two people moving around trying to locate each other was ...bound to never meet up. Perhaps they should sit still? Well for now anyway she doubted she could wander around for long in her current state.

Dragging herself up into a staggering standing position she leaned against the tree and then offered her hand to the boy.

The boy stood from Keilana's lap as she staggered to her feet. The woman in front of him didn't look too steady and it made him worry that she was too hurt. The tears were in his eyes again, this time not for his lost mother, but for the pain Keilana was feeling. He grabbed Keilana's hand and began to slowly pull her with him.

He... didn't exactly know where he was going, but he knew he would figure it out. When they had ran away from the Kinfa, the boy thought he caught a glimpse of the village to their left. That would be the way to go. He could get this nice lady water and maybe some help. "Are you hurt bad lady?" the boy asked as he pulled the wobbly Keilana along behind him. There was a tremor in his voice as he spoke, fearful for the woman he was taking with him.

He continued to pull, tugging Kei with him, stopping only for a moment to point out the bulbs nearby. "Water, lady." He let go of Kei's hand to run toward the bulbs.

She probably should not of allowed the boy to pull her along, she probably should of taken charge and then things would of felt...more in control. But she was tired...and weak, she wanted nothing better than to wash the drying blood off her skin that was now starting to itch. Her free hand went up to itch a particularly annoying area only to reopen the scabbing wound and have fresh blood ooze down her neck.

At the boy's question she wanted to reply back sarcastically, as if she would of done with her own brother, but this was just a young boy...what if he took it wrong and then began crying again?

"I will be honest kid I am not doing great. " She finally replied before watching the boy rather dully as he pointed at some bulbs and then ran towards them. Knowing nothing of the forest she couldn't tell if they were dangerous or not...the boy recognized them though...so that must be something.

"Names Kei, what's yours kid?" She inquired next as she walked /staggered up to where the boy claimed water was. These bulbs must have it stored within them. Or so she gathered. "So there is water in those?" The woman mused wondering just how one got it out without destroying it. "How do you get it out?"

In response, the boy gently grabbed onto on of the bulbs and pinched it off where it met the stem. The plant would eventually grow a new one, and it would be none the worse for the wear.

The little one ran back to Keilana on his stubby little legs and handed her the bulb, dropping it gently into both of her open hands. The bulb was about the size of a head, a fair size for bulbs like these and contained plenty of water. The little boy pointed to an area of the bulb where the veins met up in a star shape. "You can poke here." He looked up at Kei, waiting for her to do as he said and rubbing his nose with his arm. "I'm Nehriah, Kei-lady."

Lady? No one ever called her lady before, she wasn't sure if she liked it. Still he was only a kid and now she knew his name. Nehriah. As the weight of the bulb settled into her hand she marvelled at how light it felt. Looking at it in a curious manner she went to sit down, feeling weak and not wanting to add stress on the kid if she keeled over. Following his instructions she punctured the bulb and was startled as if began to spill its co tents almost immediately.

Bringing it to her lips she drank in a greedy fashion, stopping to then offer some to the boy.

"You should drink," her tone was firm but not unkind. "How did you get separated from your mother?" Was her next question, after all the more she knew about how this situation came to be the better.

The boy watched patiently as Keilana poked into the bulb and took her share of water from the sac. When she offered it to him, he realized just how dry his lips had really gotten from so much crying and took the bulb willingly, draining a large gulp of its contents before offering it back to Keilana.

He wiped mouth with his hands, the sweet taste of the water still on his lips and looked up at her with large eyes. "I... I don't know... We were walking... and that big bird came... and I ran away..." He seemed to be really struggling to put it all together. It had all happened so fast, he didn't really know or understand any of what it was that had gone on that day. Last he knew he was holding hands with his mom, then he was alone and this Kei-lady came to help.

He looked at Keilana's face. "Want another one? For your hurt places?"

About to protest she saw the wisdom in his suggestion, sure he was just a kid but even he had the intelligence to wash out wounds so they didn't get infected. Feeling a bit stupid, she blamed the blood loss on her lack of wise choices.

"Yes that would be nice Nehriah, but we should get moving soon there are too many things in this place that like meat." She stated and though she wasn't the type to want to scare the boy she did want him aware they weren't safe yet. She just hoped he wouldn't burst out crying again.

Left with her thoughts on what he had said to her she gave a thoughtful hmmm. If the woman had been separated from her son due to the bird attack it is likely that she was still in that area looking for him. Which meant they would have to back track to where the kifna had been. A unpleasant idea to say the least. Perhaps though they could go around rather than through the kifna's territory. Hopefully his mother had better luck with that blasted bird than she did ..if she managed to get near the area.

"Come on, once we wash my wounds we will get going again. I don't want us stuck here after dark."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 16, 2013 8:03 pm

The boy took off to the next bulb he saw after getting the okay from Keilana. At this point the boy would do anything to help this nice lady. He pinched off another and waddled back to Keilana, tripping on his way and almost spilling the precious contents of the sac. He poked a hole in himself this time and handed the dribbling contents to Keilana.

"Here Kei." He pushed the bulb at Keilana and squatted next to her while she washed herself down. He would help, but there was a lot of blood and as young as he was, he had a feeling that Keilana would want to do it herself.

"Now we can go look for mommy?" He reached out to grab at her hands. This little boy wanted his mother and while he wasn't prepared to cry about it just yet, he was impatient enough to want to get moving, and soon.

The sun was high overhead, but was already beginning to start its dip into the earth once more.

Taking the bulb she hated to admit that now that the kid wasn't crying he was rather cute. Taking the bulb she went about washing off her wounds, unable to see what they looked like she felt them with her finger tips and flinched at how deep some of the wounds felt. She had to remind herself it was probably not as bad as it felt, but it still made her sick to her stomach.

Then again she felt sick to her stomach all the time these days.

Once clean and feeling more refreshed she nodded her head, it was time to get the little boy back to his mother. Standing up she offered the boy her hand, her hammer now hefted (although awkwardly) back onto her shoulder.

"Alright its time to get you home. Lead the way."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 16, 2013 8:52 pm

The little boy grabbed onto Keilana's hand with both of his and tugged for her to follow... except... he really didn't know where to take her. His face got a deep look of concentration, something strange for a youngling of his age and seemed to be mildly taxing to keep up. He looked behind them, to where they had just come from. His mom could be looking for him.

He looked the opposite direction, where he had seen a glimpse of the town, but if he went home and stayed in one spot it would be easier for her. He looked up at Keilana with a snap of his head. He had tears in his eyes. "I remember where mommy is. She needs help." And with that he took off running back to where the kinfa had been earlier. His short little legs wouldn't get him as far as fast as Keilana had, but he needed to get back to his mother. He hoped that Keilana had followed behind him, but with the tears in his eyes it was hard to tell.

When he finally got back to the general area of the attack, he whipped his head around, looking, searching, wiping the tears from his eyes enough to see around him.

The bird was nowhere in sight, having been over a few hundred feet from the spot he was in right now, but his eyes narrowed in on something on the ground in the distance. He took off, again hoping that Keilana was following behind and threw himself onto his mother.

She was lying face down on the sand, and while she was bleeding temendously, she was still shallowly breathing.

To have the child thinking so hard it was..adorable, of course when he yanked hand free from hers she panic'd slightly. She tried to stop him but he was a fast little guy. Scrambling she had to chase after him, wanting to call out to him to stop but finding that she was still tired and weary from blood loss.

As they retraced their steps back to where she had found the boy being attacked she took, had her weapon ready just in case the kifna decided it needed a second round. It dawned on her after a moment of stopping what the boy had said before taking off. 'she needs help'. That didn't sound very promising.

"H..how...do you know she need...needs help?" She inquired as she looked around, leery of the surrounding area as there were many places that could hide a creature.
