xoxoxoIT'S TIME FOR QUARANTINE WEDNESDAYS

xoxoxo Hello once again! Thank you for returning for our newest edition of Quarantine Wednesdays. We are glad to relay that the Conjunctivitis outbreak has been successfully contained and was not able to reach epidemic status and those poor souls that were affected are now safe to be around once again! Unfortunately, there is a new disease sweeping over the viewing area. Currently, hand-foot-and-mouth disease has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report. Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is an illness brought on from a virus known as enterovirus which is easily spread through coughing or sneezing. Cautionary signs of the virus include fatigue, sore throat, and a fever. However, in many cases there may not be any symptoms before the appearance of sores. Around two to three days after contracting the virus, small sores, and in some cases a skin rash, will appear. In order to prevent spreading this virus, please wash your hands frequently and avoid touching any sores as much as possible. There is no real form of treatment, although staying hydrated is imperative to a quick recovery. In some cases, applying ointment to external sores can relieve some discomfort. It is also advised that you stay away from spicy or acidic foods as they can irritate sores within the mouth. All current cases of hand-foot-and-mouth disease will most likely have worked their way out within the next two weeks. That's all for this round of Quarantine Wednesday! Stay clean and healthy! See you next time!

xoxoxoThe following residents have been infected for the 1st & 2nd weeks of Spring (August 29th - September 11th):
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo- Alfred Dahl
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo- Elizabeth Berry
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo- Junior Waldroup

Unfortunately, there is a new disease sweeping over the viewing area. Currently, fifth disease has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report. Fifth disease, or "slapped cheeks disease" as it is sometimes called, is a viral illness. Cautionary signs of the virus include fever, runny nose, and headaches. These signs will exist for roughly two to three days before a rash appears on the face. After this, a "lace-like" rash will form on arms and legs. During the duration of the rash, joint swelling and pain is very common. In order to prevent spreading this virus, please wash your hands frequently. Unfortunately, this virus is most contagious during the first stage when it seems like a simple cold. There is no real form of treatment, although staying hydrated is imperative to a quick recovery. In some cases, the rash can become itchy and cream should be applied as needed. All current cases of fifth disease will most likely have worked their way out within the next two weeks. xoxoxoIT'S TIME FOR THIS WEEK'S WEATHER REPORT

Hi, hi, hi! Welcome to the weather report for Spring! Now, I know what all you silly-billies out there are thinking – Where have you been, Weather Girl? Well, jeez, I'm sorry I have a life outside my job! I mean, could it kill you people to just look out a window and maybe see for yourself if it's rain or shine?! ...Oh, but, um, excuse me, I actually mean to say that I'm so so so sorry for having been gone! And please don't write anymore letters to the station asking to fire me. This is, like, my ONLY job!!! Anyway, so here's the weather! It's going to continue to be super sunny and happy like usual! You maaaay have a few sun showers here and there – after all, all the new flowers growing need their water too! So remember to carry an umbrella just in case if you're out and about! But, I really don't expect anything too major! It looks like it's going to be smooth sailing from here on out, everyone! Have fun!

xoxoxoIT'S TIME FOR QUARANTINE WEDNESDAYS

xoxoxo Hello once again! Thank you for returning for our newest edition of Quarantine Wednesdays. We are glad to relay that the fifth disease outbreak has been successfully contained and was not able to reach epidemic status and those poor souls that were affected are now safe to be around once again! Unfortunately, there is a new problem sweeping over the viewing area. Currently, poison oak has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report. Poison oak is a deciduous shrub that is capable of causing a rash when it comes into contact with humans. The rhyme "leaves of three, leave it be" applies to poison oak as well as poison ivy. It is recommended to stay away from any leaves matching this description as it appears there are several plants on the island. Once the rash appears on the skin, there are several things that can be done to help with the irritation. Applying rubbing alcohol to the rash can remove the poisonous oils left by the plant. Always be sure to rinse with cool water and not hot as it will open pours and cause more damage. Do not scratch the rash under any circumstances as this can break the skin and allow infection to spread. Applying an ice pack to the area can also reduce discomfort. However, this should only be done for 10-15 minutes at a time. Even though these treatments can reduce discomfort, time is most important. All current cases of poison oak will most likely have worked their way out within the next two weeks, granted that the population heeds our warnings and stays away from this plant. That's all for this round of Quarantine Wednesday! Stay clean and healthy! See you next time!

xoxoxo Hello once again! Thank you for returning for our newest edition of Quarantine Wednesdays. We are glad to relay that the poison oak outbreak has been successfully contained and was not able to reach epidemic status and those poor souls that were affected are now safe to be around once again! Unfortunately, there is a new problem sweeping over the viewing area. Currently, food poisoning has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report. These particular cases of food poisoning are all listeria infection. Listeria is a bacteria that is known to be found in soil and water. As such, it is often transmitted from contaminated vegetables or by the consumption of an animal that has come into contact with contaminated water. Symptoms of a listeria infection include fever, muscle pain, nausea and diarrhea. If this infection is allowed to spread, it can reach the nervous system and begin to cause confusion and dizzy spells. If any of these symptoms are experienced, please rush to your nearest hospital. While the infection remains in earlier stages, it can be treated with antibiotics. Plenty of fluids and rest are also highly recommended to combat this infection. All current cases of listeria infection will most likely have worked their way out within the next two weeks, as long as proper care is followed. That's all for this round of Quarantine Wednesday! xoxoxo Hello once again! Thank you for returning for our newest edition of Quarantine Wednesdays. We are glad to relay that all cases of listeria infection have been successfully contained and were not able to reach epidemic status. Those poor souls that were affected are now safe to be around once again! Unfortunately, there is a new problem sweeping over the viewing area. Currently, tonsillitis has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report.

xoxoxo Tonsillitis is an infection of the masses of tissue at the back of the throat, the tonsils. The tonsils act as filters and trap germs that would usually cause infections in the airways. They also produce antibodies to help fight other types of infections. However, there are times when the amount of bacteria is simply so high that the tonsils themselves become inflamed. This infection of the tonsils is most commonly called tonsillitis. Symptoms of tonsillitis include: throat pain or tenderness, redness of the tonsils, white or yellow coating on the tonsils, hoarseness or loss of voice, headaches, ear pain, fever and bad breath. While many of these symptoms are common, it is not uncommon to only experience a few of these. There are two very distinct root causes of tonsillitis and it is important that a doctor be consulted to determine what type you have. The first type is bacterial which requires antibiotics for treatment. The second is viral which cannot be treated with medication as the body must be allowed to fight it off itself. In each case, it is important to have plenty of rest and drink worm liquids to relieve pain. Humidifiers are also often reported as being helpful.

xoxoxo All current cases of tonsillitis appear to be mild and will most likely have worked their way out within the next two weeks, as long as proper care is followed. That's all for this round of Quarantine Wednesday! Stay clean and healthy! See you next time!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxo- Eoin Tremaine
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo- Natalia Piper

xoxoxoIT'S TIME FOR QUARANTINE WEDNESDAYS SUNDAYS

xoxoxo Hello once again! Thank you for returning for our newest edition of Quarantine Wednesdays, brought to you specially this week on a Sunday. We are glad to relay that all cases of tonsilitis have been successfully contained and were not able to reach epidemic status. Those poor souls that were affected are now safe to be around once again! Unfortunately, there is a new problem sweeping over the viewing area. Currently, pneumonia has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report.

xoxoxo Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs. It is caused by bacteria being breathed into the lungs. It is much more common in those that have recently had an illness or those that deal with a long-term illness. Symptoms of pneumonia include: a cough (most commonly accompanied by mucus), a fever, feeling short of breath, chills, chest pain, fatigue and nausea. While many of these symptoms are common, it is not uncommon to only experience a few of these. The bacterial form of pneumonia is treated with antibiotics as instructed by a doctor. Along with antibiotics, it is important to get plenty of rest and drink ample amounts of fluid. If you are a smoker, it is important to refrain from smoking during this period. Cough syrup is sometimes necessary to assist in getting to sleep.

xoxoxo All current cases of pneumonia appear to be mild and will most likely have worked their way out within the next two weeks, as long as proper care is followed. That's all for this round of Quarantine Wednesday! Stay clean and healthy! See you next time!

Currently, the Norovirus has been diagnosed in several patients. The names of these citizens will follow the report.

xoxoxo The Norovirus, sometimes referred to as the winter vomiting bug, is an infectious stomach bug. It is a virus that can be caught from an infected person, contaminated food or water, or by touching contaminated surfaces. Symptoms of norovirus include: stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea and throwing up. This virus causes the stomach or intestines (sometimes both) to become inflamed. xoxoxoI hope you guys enjoyed the nice weather while you could, because it looks like this week will bring us something different! It will continue to be clear and cloudless, but expect the temperatures to go up up up this week! Open the windows, turn on your fans and air conditioning units, and don your short-shorts because this heatwave will be intense and it will last for a majority of the week. Make sure you drink plenty of water and don't get overheated if you want to live to see Fall--err, I mean, have a bearable Summer. But don't worry, Nirvani has not dropped to the pits of Hell for all eternity! This heatwave is expected to cool down by Summer 14th.

xoxoxoOh Goddess I thought that heat wave would never end! I was sweating so much, it's a miracle there's any of me left! As I promised, things will cool off in the days to come, though don't start unpacking your sweaters just yet. Things will still be warm, but there will be a nice breeze and some cloud cover to ease your suffering. Hey, don't give me that look, just be glad it's not a hurricane! Hahahah! This current system is expected to continue until Summer 21, so enjoy the milder weather while you can!
