Aila walked as fast as she possibly could with the colt in her arms, crooning soft comforting words to him as she hurried. She was going to keep him alive and well, even if it killed her and her injured leg.

Serenity was in the stable eating, when her ears perked up at the sound of incoming Azrein, though she could not tell if it was friend or foe at the moment. She knew she better be the one to check, in case it was a friend and Michi grilled them. She trotted out of the stable and looked around to see who was coming. She saw it was Beta with some friends of their's, she wondered what was going on.
"Beta, Danny...what is going on?"Serenity asked, fixing her blue eyes on the two of them.

Beta teared up at the question, so Danny answered for her. "Delta was attacked. Aila's bringing him here. Can you tell Dea? Aila said to get..." She thought for a minute. "Hot water, clean rags, a sewing needle and some string." The message delivered, the Skh'et turned her attention back to her new Bonded. "It's alright, Beta. Shh..."

Serenity snorted in anger hearing her grandson had been attacked...oh this was way too familiar for her liking. She felt Dea's soothing presence trying to fill her with calm, reminding her she could not let anger consume her. Serenity told her bonded what was needed and Dea assured her she would have it all ready when Aila came with Delta. Serenity then went over and nuzzled her daughter, knowing she needed to be strong for her.
"It will be alright, dear, Dea is getting the stuff as we speak. Aila is wonderful at this kind of stuff, she will do everything she can for Delta,"Serenity soothed.

Tears were streaming down Beta's face, frame quivering from her attempts to slow the flow. "I couldn't protect him," she whispered. "I can't protect any of them..." Lacey was gone, likely whisked away to the south by its most notorious demons, and Delta's life was hanging by a thread for the second time... What kind of mother was she? She couldn't keep them safe...

Serenity walked in front of her daughter and nosed her head up, in an attempt to get her to look at her.
"Honey, do you remember what you told me when Dea was attacked and I was feeling the same way? Or when Rosa disappeared?"Serenity asked gently.

Beta sniffled, shaking her head as she tried to at least slow the flow of tears running down her face. She remembered talking to her mother, but she couldn't remember what was said, especially not while in distress like she was.

Serenity brushed some of the tears away from her daughter's cheek, before nuzzling it.
"It is alright if everything is too much for you right now. I believe if I remember right, you asked me if I loved them. When I answered, you told me then that they did not want me to beat myself up over it. That bad things happened, but it is the fault of those that did the bad things, not my own. What I am going to tell you is all of that and that you are a good mother. Sometimes things happen and instead of dwelling on what we could have done differently, we need to focus on what we can do now,"Serenity spoke softly.

Beta burst into a new round of tears, not trying to hold them back this time. This time she just cried until her mother's soothing and Danny's warm presence calmed her down again. Only then did she find the control to turn and walk towards Dea's house, where she assumed Aila would be taking Delta.

Serenity watched her daughter and she better than just about anyone knew she needed to get it out. So she allowed her to do so, before walking with Beta and Danny back to the house.
"Knowing Dea, she will do everything she can to help. Remember, Dea is part elf, magic is part of who she is,"Serenity explained.

Aila hurried, and finally crested up to Dea's house. When she got their, Dea's brother, CJ, held open the door for her and the foal in her arms. She lay the foal down on the table and instantly grabbed the medical kit at her side that she always carried. "Dea, CJ. I had hoped to never see you again in distress like this..." She commented grimly as she grabbed a poultice and began applying it to help staunch Delta's wounds.
Rogan, called by the distress of his sister through the bond they shared with Dea, hurried over to Serenity and the group, instantly placing his head over Beta's neck in a soothing manner. He crooned a bit to her, his feathers dangling in front of her face. He had been close to his niece, who loved his quirkiness when she was a foal. "It's going to be alright dear.

Danny patted her Bonded's side as the mare was pulled into a hug, then glanced towards the house. "I'm going to see if I can help with anything..." The Skh'et followed Aila into the house, standing back and letting her work but ready to spring into action should the woman need anything. Beta would be fine, she was sure. She was surrounded by love.
Beta stopped in her tracks when Rogan caught her, leaning into his hold. She sniffled and nodded, trying not to burst into tears again. Her poor baby. Her poor, sweet child...

Serenity saw Rogan and she gave him a sad smile, glad that he had sensed her sorrow about this. Just as she wondered if anyone else did, Varteres came galloping up to them.
"Thank you, my dear brothers for coming so quickly. Dea and the others will help him, Beta, I know it,"Serenity spoke quietly.
Dea rolled over with the items Serenity had relayed to her and placed them neat Aila as she worked.
"I am afraid that we always run into this trouble, don't we? I can't believe someone would be so cruel as to hurt a young foal like this,"Dea sighed.

Aila shook her head, her lips in a thin line of controlled rage as her emerald eyes watered. "Dea... I think the same b*****d that did this to you, did this to Delta." She said, throwing her instruments down as she finished doing all she could for the colt, including sewing a very nasty cut at the back of the foals head that could possibly cause some memory damage, which she did not want to tell anyone but Dea in strict confidence, so she could tell those that could handle it, when they could handle it.
Rogan shook his head, looking at Varteres. "This has got to be put to an end, Brother. Have you seen Ermir lately? He should know. We need to plan."

Beta nodded to her mother's reassurance. But she instinctively moved away from the talk of "ending things," a habit she'd developed as a result of her time with Reth. She didn't need revenge. If Delta was ok, that was--at least for the moment--all she needed.
Danny slung her arm around Aila and pulled her close when it was clear the woman was finished with her work. "It's gonna be ok," she murmured, drawing on Charli's strength as well as her own as she tried to ease both Beta and Aila's pain. Her gaze went to the door, then to Dea. "Is it alright if Beta comes in?" Even without a Bond, it would've been easy to see the anxiety in the young mother's face.
