V'lay - Tools +2 Prep: 6 Alert: 6
Ultimate Score Prep: 6 + 3 + 6 = 15 Alert: 5 + 6 + 6 = 17
---
This time, he moved fast. The blaze was up, the wick lit, and V'lay was out of the way in time for the animals to start another panic. This was...not going well, all things considered. He glanced back in the direction of the first blaze, only to find that while it had been well-prepared, the wick hadn't taken. The second fire was going well, though, and V'lay scrambled to get out of the way of the blaze as another paddock of herdbeasts started a stampede.

[Siata]
Siask did not like being left behind, not even a tiny bit. Siata said, stay back, don't risk dying, but even then the huge bronze lug thought it his place to defend Siata always. It was rather true, she knew it even as he raged against her, but she'd not risk him. She had a friend Siask actually didn't hate ready, all set up to rebond the huge bronze if Siata didn't make it back. She didn't want him feral.
She didn't want him dead.
The smith tried to keep unseen as she headed towards the animals, flint in hand. The animals caused a stir, made her jump with bared teeth. The nervous wherhandler struck up a flame, awkward at first until she got the hang of it, eyebrows knitted in concentration.
Ignore the beasts. She'd stab them - or wherholders - with her knife if approached.

Grand Totals: Setup: 11 Alert: 8
No time to delay over the final one. This last blaze was merely average, rather than well-put-together as the others had been, but it was still a respectable effort. And this time the animals seemed rather more alarmed by a - was that a stampede?
Well, at least no one was likely to notice C'ross and Nimith in the confusion.
I think it is time we made ourselves scarce, Nimith warned, low and urgent. C'ross nodded and took off.

Cai and Miath (+0 to both rolls)
"Shaff!" Cai jammed her thumb into her mouth and kicked at the fence in her anger and pain.
Mine is attempting to light herself on fire I believe... Miath replied to Rynsemth with concern.
Stuff it Miath. Son-of-a! She stamped her foot on the ground and shook the injured hand before sticking the burn back in her mouth. The redhead left her failed attempt. With how many people out who cared if one spot didn't light. Already the animals were in a panic over something else. Cai had half a mind to climb back on Miath and leave. This was stupid.

Cai and Miath (+0 to both rolls)
Hating to leave something undone though, Cai went back, lit the previous one and set her third. By now though the herdbeasts and other livestock were making such a fuss it was pointless to really continue further. Cai was just glad to be done with this part.
Is it bad... Caimine?
I'll be fine. Cai sighed and sent a quick reassuring flicker of love.

Felix made quick work of his second spot, as smoke and flames rose from around the stables, animals lowed within and Felix's throat tightened. He set his face into a grim line and went to light his last bundle.

Felix set his last bundle aflame and with only a moment's thought, unlatched the doors of the stable next to him. If the animals got out... at least they wouldn't burn to death inside.

The stables, pens, and food storage were ablaze and the creatures within were stampeding, breaking through doors and generally wreaking havoc across the plains of Malvren’s surface. Bewildered, the Farmhands, Handlers, and anyone else nearby threw themselves into the effort of calming the livestock and putting out the blaze.
Above the group dragons had taken to the air carrying great cuts of sail to try to dump water from above and in the chaos, amazingly, no one was spotted. The shadow and the motion was too much to keep an eye on any humanoid or wher shape – the people were turning out swiftly to address the problem at their doorstep.
And that meant the entrance was easily entered. Everyone knew, instinctually, that these were not accidental fires and yet the pressing need to keep the wherries and the runners from running themselves off the cliff drew too many resources for anyone to question the soot-stained, gasping members of Trine as they staggered into the Wherhold. The Dragonriders knew, too, that they had a limited amount of time as the ramp lead down into familiar halls and the storage levels full of dried good, supllies, wine casks, and other such necessities lay open before them.
It was time to poison the heart of Malvren’s occupying force. InstructionsThere are 400 Resource Points, which represent everything from oil and fabric to food and wares that can be raided. There is also a countdown timer starting at 300, every action causes the countdown to decrease and when it hits zero a new event is triggered. Humans have 30HP. To raid the supplies, the characters have 3 choices (All roll off of Stealth, Tools): a) Burn It! – Roll 2d10. The first number is the number of resources set aflame. The second is the number of points taken off the Countdown. If the first die is a 10, add 5 to the destroyed resources. If the second die is a 10, double the number of points taken off the countdown. b) Taint it! – Roll 3d8. The first number is the amount of resource poisoned, poisoned resources are not visibly poisoned and will affect health of those who consume it. The second number is the handling of the poison – rolling 1-3 take 3 damage, 4-6 take 1 damage, 7-8 take no damage. The third number is the number of points that come off the countdown. c) Steal it! – Rolld 2d6. The first number is the amount of stolen resources, a maximum of 20 resources may be stolen and if the first number is a 6, 2 bandages that heal 3 HP each are found. If the character has a full pack, they cannot use this option anymore. The second number is the number that comes off the countdown.

S'lin: Stealing Tools modifier: 0 HP: 30/30 Resources Held: 5/20
In the confusion caused by roaring fires, stampeding animals and general noise and rushing about, S'lin managed to make her way into the wherhold without being challenged. She split off from the other weyrfolk to make her way to a storeroom.
As she ducked into a room, a quick survey revealed that it didn't have any food, but various other supplies. She was about to try another, but paused. These could be useful to Trine, which was still hurting from overcrowding and damage. She quickly grabbed whatever was in reach and stuffed it in her pack before moving on.

C'ross - Poisoning Tools modifier: 0 HP: 30/30 Pack: 0/20
---
They'd made it! So far, no one had challenged C'ross as an intruder - as soon as any of the Wherholders drew close, Nimith darted off into the dark so that they would not be recognized as weyrlings. And without his knots or any other kind of identification, he could have been any other soot-stained guard out to investigate the mysterious fires.
The two of them slipped past the Wherholders unchallenged and made their way to the storehouses. C'ross took a deep breath, drew the poison pouch out of his pocket, and set about his grim work. He opened a pair of wineskins - good quality from the look of them - and poured a small measure of poison into each one. If he was lucky, they would go to high ranking officials and further weaken the Wherhold.
He was tremendously careful, handling the poison as if it were a venomous tunnelsnake. It made for slow work, but not a drop of it touched his skin or Nimith's. Keep watch for me? he asked his dragon soundlessly, and the blue bobbed his head and moved to the door to watch.

Cai: Tainting HP: 29 Countdown: 292/300
She'd only been to Malvren once, and while her stay had been 'extended' as it were, she only really knew the infirmary and immediate areas. Cai was left to follow the others deep into the tunnels of the cliffs and trust they knew where they were going.
Before long they were in the kitchen store room, an area of any weyr that Cai almost instinctively avoided. She wrinkled her nose in distaste and bent to her work. In the dark it was hard to see, but the shapes of produce were unmistakable in their crates. The pouch of powdered poison was not the easiest thing to handle though, especially if she didn't want to kill anyone (today). "Tch!" Cai wiped her hand off on her shirt hastily as some of the powder hit her bare skin.

C'ross - Stealing Tools modifier: 0 HP: 30/30 Pack: 5/20
---
There was more than just food and wine in the storeroom he had ducked into. Was he supposed to poison the other things too? They'd mentioned that the poison would work on skin contact, but he wasn't sure how well cloth or leather would hold the poison...
Why not just take it? Our home needs supplies. No sense wasting these. Take what you can, taint the rest.
It made sense, the more he thought about it. Their ruse wasn't going to go completely undiscovered; someone would realize the fires were set deliberately. If some things were obviously ransacked, then the Wherholders would assume their goal was to steal supplies, not to poison, and the tainted rations were more likely to be consumed without being noticed until it was too late. C'ross stuffed what he could into his pack.

Felix: Stealing Tools modifier: +1 Resources Held: 2/20 Countdown: 283/300
All of this was distasteful and wrong. Felix could feel the pouch of poison thumping against his thigh as he moved, keeping his head down and his body hunched in a weak effort not to be noticed as definitely 'not from around here'. Yes, he was from Malvren, but his lack during the last turn might just tip some off, that and the new tan he now sported.
There was the flint and remaining fire starters in his pack, another heavy weight on his conscious. Could he set fire within the weyr? Where smoke and flames would choke even the innocents before they could escape? No, he couldn't. Felix glanced around the storerooms, already others were hard at work and he was just standing there... He saw another slip something into their pack. Raiding. Harmful and Harmless at the same time.
There was someone already poisoning wineskins but Felix cracked the box next to him and gave the lad a quick grin. "Mind if I slip a couple before you get to them? I'll share when we get back." He was already stuffing a skin into his pack. Since he wasn't wearing his knots, and the dragonet was hiding, Felix didn't recognize C'ross as a weyrling.

C'ross froze as more footsteps approached, but the man who entered and joined him in the storeroom was a fellow Trine raider. Stupid of him. He'd wasted time, even if only a few moments.
"Go for it," he told Felix. "If some of the wineskins are missing, they're less likely to check the ones that are left. Why would we poison wine we're out to steal?"
He didn't bother to correct the other man that he was a weyrling; Felix would figure it out soon enough when Nimith rejoined them. C'ross just finished stuffing some supplies into his pack.
