Isidore watched his dad check the bracelet and swung his legs a little as it was approved. "Oh?" That was exciting, something for his collection ... but what? There was so much so choose from. "I want something that reminds me of our adventure." he declared. Something elvy ... though he didn't say that as they were supposed to be elves and elves wouldn't say that. "We need something for Cae too. And you."

If his son wanted for something a little more typically elven, they would likely to have to go to another booth for that. The more intricate the jewelry, the more it would cost.
But with the jewelry adorning both male and female elves passing them by would give him hints of what to look for.
"You do not have to get me anything. Unless you would really like to, that is."

"Yeah, you need something too, because otherwise it's not fair. If there are cookies mama always makes sure we get one each." He looked down at the table and sighed, it was just far too much of a decision.
"There is too much choice."

Oh yes. Cookies. The source of many fights among children, Ankou was certain.
"We can keep looking and come back later ?" After all, maybe there was something even better on the next stand. There was only one way to find out. "We can look at everything and you can decide what is best for who ?"
Then they could likely eat something. They had appearances to keep up, after all.

"Oh yes." That was certainly a good idea. Buying presents needed a lot of thought. He took a moment to look around, taking in their surroundings. He chewed on his lip a little and leaned down to whisper in his dad's ear, after all they were being secret. "Do they have gods here too?" he said softly.

That question was better addressed in private, even with whispers involved, so Ankou would wait until he had stepped away from the busy crowd before continuing. He sat on a bench and put his son down in turn - that they would take a break was not suspicious at all.
"We are their gods, Isidore." Ankou said, keeping his own voice low. "Even if they do not realize it. The names they call you or me might be different, but we are the forces they believe in." These elves were more suited for the Arcanes, but if Isidore paid attention, he would notice the little flames that burned differently. The white mages who healed. The priestesses who tended to the dead.

Isidore folded his hands in his lap as he was placed on the seat and listened to his father. He looked at all the people bustling past and not giving the pair of them a second glance. "So they have funerals too? And ... and spirits that you have to take away?"

"Of course. There are funeral rites to every sentient culture, and every living bring has a soul." Ankou nodded, folding one leg over the other and leaning back against the bench. Drow were not always... polite, after all. If he did not look like he was pondering some kind of trouble, then he might stand out.

"Oh, so, we have to take care of all these people, all of them?" He asked looking up at his father, that was a very big thought for such a small god. "These people and other people and in all the worlds?" He breathed in and looked up at the sky, seeming more like an adult than a child. "That's a big job."

"It is." Ankou agreed. Maybe now his son understood why he was gone so much. For some gods, reaching their influences did not require their physical presence. It was not the case for him - at least not completely.
"But they have their ways to let you know when you need them. Eventually they will pray to you, and you will hear it." It was much more proactive to step out and seek followers, but... He did not want to encourage Isidore to do so just yet. If Akakios was any indication, they would not remain children long - and they should enjoy their childhood while they could.

"Oh." That still seemed like a rather big thing, listening out for the prayers of, well, everyone. Isidore kicked his feet a little and looked out at the people walking by. One day he would be big like his dad though and then he would be able to do aaanything. But that was a long way off, at least in his mind it was. "Can we get something Elfy for mama and the girls? I think they'd like something unusual."

"Of course we can." Ankou smiled. Something unusual would be memorable, indeed. "Would you like to stop and eat first, before you pick anything ? Or the other way around ?"
Either way he planned to do both. This was about discovering, after all, and food was an huge part of a culture's identity.

Oh now that was a big decision. It did seem like a long time since he had eaten. "Let's eat something!" He grinned, forgetting that his father did not really eat anything. "I want to see what kinds of food they have, I hope they're really yummy."

Well, at the very least it would be pretty. He had seen the food, but not tried it before. Isidore's hand was taken again once they both were up again, and Ankou led his son deeper into the market, where there were a few restaurants. It was all rather fancy, bright green salads full of color and textures, fruits, vegetables and cheese. What meat there was was mostly game - venison, deer, rabbit, quail.
The menus were easily seen, but they were written in elven, so Ankou would provide a subtle translation for Funeral. "Does any of that interest you ?"

So much choice, how was he supposed to decide? He ran the items over in his mind. Really he'd like to try everything but that would be greedy and far too much for a little god. "Um, I want to try Venison and some vegetables sound good."
