He chuckled at her little joke, amused at her sense of humor. "To each their own of course, I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable. But it's a shame to lock yourself away. You miss the world, and the world misses you." A light breeze rolled through, ruffling his dark green hair. It truly was a gorgeous day. "And...I'm fairly sure she didn't exactly 'have' me. She's human. I think." He didn't really know much of humans, as she was the only one he had ever known. "But don't feel bad for me, really. I've lived a very happy life here, and the Tree always provides." He spotted a fallen tree trunk, and quickly trotted forwards a few steps to hop over it. The male extended a hand for the female to take in order to help her over it. "Do you have any family?"
OOC: Poor little Kaiden... foot is about to go into mouth.

((Alright, so this is going to be lame as I was in the middle of changing her background anyway and a little of her personality but please, just go with it and I apologize for changing the RP a little to go in this direction but after thinking about it it was really the only thing I could do by making her 'family' end up being a couple of pets she was close to which means that yes, what she thought previously has sort of changed. So I am sorry if it just sounds strange and what not and if pets are mentioned in future you will know why. )) Lira smiled and shook her head "no, it's fine, really, I will be happy to have your company" she said as she kicked a stone with her hoof as she walked "and that is sweet of you to say but really I am just one Faun, staying locked away inside the tree wouldn't matter much to anyone and I don't really have anyone to actually leave the tree to see so it is fine for me to just being a recluse" she said smiling a little more as the males hair was ruffled by the wind, she maybe be a bad judge of men since she hardly spent time around them but he was cute. Lira looked away, blushing a little, she shouldn't be thinking these things, they had just met for a start and he was just being kind, Lira took a few deep breaths and just went back looking at the ground as she walked, stepping over the tree trunk as she came to it "a...human?" She asked curiously, that was a new term for her, she had heard something about these humans ages ago, when she first moved into the Great Tree but it was like it was just stories, old Pae tales that are told around camp fires these days. "I am pleased though that you are happy and yes, the Great Tree is great which, I guess, is another reason I don't wish to leave it, it has provided us with many things and I guess, when I got here, I was accepted Chef Rais' hospitality a little too much, I ended up depending on the tree far more then I should and so I don't really need to leave the tree, I should but I am happiest being in my own company." She said as she paused, unable to think of anything to say with the last question, she opened her mouth to say something before closing it, tears welled up in her eyes and she bit them back, finding it rude to leave him hanging she just shook her head "n...no, I don't have any family, at least, not biologically, the Fauns are my family, the tree is my home, that is all the family I want and need" she said as she lifted her head towards the sun, eyes closed and accepted the warm rays on her face, her family had gone, she was no longer alone and whilst that was true she did, more often then she would like to admit, wish to have them back and live elsewhere with them then the tree but, as she said to the Faun next to her, the Tree was her home and the Faun were her family, she just had to get over it and slowly (very slowly) she was but to get over it completely? She feared she never would.

His tail gave a little flick as he beamed when she mentioned she was happy to have him around. But he was even more thrilled that she was smiling and seemed to be coming out of her shell. A beautiful faun like herself deserved to be happy and feel loved. "If you stayed locked away though, I wouldn't have met you. So...even if I am one faun, and we barely know eachother, it already matters to me." If he came off as flirting, it was completely unintentional. The friendly male was simply honest; an open book. "As for the human, you don't see any now-a-days. But apparently there used to be a few here. Then one by one, they left the island. She was the only one I ever knew though. Looked like us in shape but much larger, and her skin had no patterns." He wasn't sure if that was the same for all humans, but it was so for her. "She was very kind. I know she looked after a lot of pae, so in a way I have lots of brothers and sisters...but I haven't seen any of them in a very long time." He slowly blinked his silver eyes at the female, curious as to how she could take advantage of the Cheif Rais. From what he knew, the male faun wouldn't see it that way at all. Slowly his smile faded the more she continued. At first it was simply the thought that she prefered being alone than to his company, but then it was much more serious. Why was she so sad when she talked of family? He hated the tears in her eyes. I keep making her sad...She'll probably never want to leave the tree again. He mentally kicked himself. Some help he was to the community. "So, what are the flowers for?" Kaiden tried to salvage what he could of her mood, taking the subject away from the apparently depressing family.

Lira softly smiled "I guess you do have a point there, I wouldn't have met you either so I guess meeting one Faun isn't too bad, especially one who who is as kind and as sweet as you" she said, flirting a little but mostly it was just a compliment "then I guess one friend on the outside world isn't too bad, maybe after today I will need to come out a bit more often if only to see you" she said, maybe venturing out for one Faun wouldn't be so bad "oh" she said as she heard what these humans were like "at least you got a kind human to care for you, it is a shame they are no longer on the Island, it would be nice to have met one if they are as kind as what you say they are." Lira said with a soft sigh "I hope you will get to meet your siblings again some day" she said sincerely as she pointed down the next path "just at the end of this path" she said as she started down the next path "maybe next time I should make a picnic" she suggested to him "maybe have it down on the beach?"

Kaiden felt his face warm slightly under his green fur at the compliment. He offered a bit of a sheepish smile in return. "I certainly hope you come out again. I rather like picnics." He caught that she skirted the question of what the flowers were for, but he didn't press the issue. It might have something tied with the taboo topic of family. The green male moved to walk down the branched off path, mentally picturing a nice lunch by the lakeside. "Especially ones on the beach. The cool waters are perfect now that the temperature is rising with summer." He glanced over at the female, his silver eyes dancing with excitement at the thought. "But don't expect anything fancy from me, I barely know how to throw meat over a fire." Kaiden spoke with a laugh, shaking his head.

((I totally missed that question, I sorry! ^^; )) "Well, considering that I just offered you a picnic i sort of have to keep up with that now don't I? I don't break promises so yes, I shall make us a picnic" she said with a chuckle "leave everything to me, the trees pantry will have all we need so I will see what I can make and maybe even make you a special something" she said smiling at him, wondering what she should bake now "and I agree, I always have loved the beach, ever since I was a girl, it will be nice to spend a few hours at the beach on a beautiful day" she said, having not been in so long that it will be nice to go once more, maybe she should start making it a casual thing...that is, if she ever gets the courage to go alone.

He smiled broadly at the female, his tail flicking slightly at the thought of her home cooking. Since he had been left at the tree as a child, he barely remembered a meal different than the ones served at the main dining hall. Though those were always delicious. "Are you more of a on the shore sunner, or a wading in the water kind of girl?" He was more the latter himself, as he quickly got hot with his fur. Pulling his gaze from the female to the path ahead, Kaiden thought he saw something familiar in the distance. He squinted his eyes to try and narrow it down. It was a beautiful patch of wildflowers, thriving in the perfect weather they had been having. "Are those the flowers you're looking for?"OOC: Lol, it's all good. As a child, I loved playing in the water but now, as an adult, I would rather sit on the beach and sunbath though, with saying that, I also had...friends when I was a child" she said, deciding to class her family as that, a little less heartbreaking but not by much "when you grow up and grow apart" once again, she said that so it was a 'safer' choice and wouldn't lead to tears "you tend to go off the whole wading part but then if you are with me I guess I can try it again" she said, ending up blushing at what she just said and turned away, that could of been said in a different way...oh well, too late now. 'Y...yes, their the flowers" she said softly once more, having seen them out the corner of her eye and having retreated back into her shell a little before taking a few more steps and walking a little faster toward them if only to escape the male a little so she could get rid of the blush. ((And yet it would be SO nice to pop in and break the fourth wall and go "hai, we control you and your ever move lol!" Though something tells me, if we, the customers in general, could do that I think some of us would be mauled. XD ))

"Well...I'll be your friend now." The male tentatively offered as his facial features softened. It was rather forward as they had only just met, but as they were already making plans to meet again he felt confident in the classification. "We can wade together." A less oblivious male would have blushed, but as it was the male was simply puzzled when the female suddenly stepped up her speed. She really wanted those flowers! "They're a very pretty assortment..." He started, increasing his pace to catch up to her. "Oh! And we can break open those muffins."OOC: I'd use my power for evil I'm sure blaugh Tell my pae all the things they shouldn't know, like upcoming plots.

A she arrived at the flowers she walked over to a bunch of red ones and started to collect some "oh, I couldn't ask you to spend more time with me" she said softly yet audible enough so he could at least hear it " from where she was "it is kind of you to offer your friendship but please, it is fine, you don't have to be polite on my account, I said I would follow through with the picnic but afterwards we can go our separate ways, you don't have to bother with me anymore after that" she said, having never been given a chance to make a friend before, at least not one who was actually genuine, after what happened with a Pae when she was a teenager that stabbed her in the back she sort of had gone off trying to make friends unless they were animal (and these days, even that was risky, ) as it was just safer that way and then she wouldn't be hurt on such a deep and personal level, she was happier that way. Lira finished up with the red and got up and looked around, noticing that the dark purple ones were too beautiful to pass up and walked over to pick some "and we could, I guess it could be fun if we did it together" she said, what was one time of wading together? She finished up with the purpler flowers and looked around, three more colors could do it and so she walked over to some bright orange ones that were near the male and started on them "and that will be fine, I think I can handle a muffin, I do admit that I am a little hungry she said, thinking over what last two colors she wished to take away from this little outing. ((LOl so would I! Something tells me though, not all would probably wish to remain on the island if they learnt of some of the plots. XD))

As they walked into the patch of flowers, he blinked at her with a tilt of the head. "Polite? No...no I was being serious." Did she think so little of herself that no one would genuinely want to be around her? The thought made him frown lightly. "I'd understand if you'd rather be alone, but I really was hoping we could be friends..." He watched her as she picked out her flowers, still perplexed as to where her lack of self confidence came from. To him, she seemed like a sweet faun. A little shy with a tendency to push pae away, but sweet all the same. When she walked over, he reached down into the orange flowers and plucked one right from the ground. Slowly he extended his arm to lace it into her soft hair. "Hey, orange suits you." A flash of a grin, trying to lighten the mood again.OOC: XD you're right! Probably best then that they don't know

Lira said nothing, she could tell this male was kind enough, sure, but so was that...that girl in the beginning, who says he would remain that way? "I just..." she said softly, standing up and looking away from the male "I just can't and nor do I want to" she said, about to walk off to pick some of the yellow wild flowers when he stopped her and laced a flower through her hair, wanting to look back at him and smile a little but she ignored that notion and walked off towards the yellow flowers. Yes it was rude and admittedly she pained a little not returning his look or even saying thank you for the compliment but if she showed more vulnerability then she already had then she risked being hurt again and she wasn't going to let that happen.

His grin instantly disappeared as his ears flattened back. He wasn't angry; that simply wasn't Kaiden. But he couldn't help feeling a little hurt at his hand of friendship being slapped away. "Well...Why not?" He asked softly, obviously affected by her sudden change of character. They had been talking, making plans, getting along...then abruptly a wall had been slammed down between them. "At one moment you seem sad about being alone, then the next you say you're happy with it." He shook his head, ears still back as he deeply frowned. "Well, you've been alone all this time and you don't seem very happy to me."

Lira knelt down and started picking some yellow flowers "showing a little bit of vulnerability is one thing, showing anymore could bring me harm and I tend to not take that risk, I'm sorry" she said, tears starting to well up in her eyes, she bit them back, hating that she couldn't at least trust him with the basic forms of friendship but what could she do? She lost her two best friends because of one Pae and she wasn't going to risk maybe having her life taken away with the next friendship attempt. "I hate being alone, I won't deny that but I am also happy with being alone because it means I won't get hurt" she said as she picked a few more yellow flowers and stood up, moving over to some pink ones and started to pick them "I am sorry but I will prepare us a picnic, as promised but I do wish to go our separate ways afterwards, the less time I spend around others the better."

"Harm?" With a deep sigh he sat down among the orange flowers. "Why would you think... I'd never want to cause you harm." How was he supposed to defend himself other than what he had been doing? Now it felt like he was forcing her to go on a picnic instead of having a fun day out. Lira was a mountain range of highs and lows, and it left him feeling confused about his footing. Shoving aside his initial hurt, he had to figure things out before he dug himself into a bigger hole. She obviously wanted a friend, but him bringing it up had frightened her off. The faun had been fine until he started to make commitments. "I understand Lira. Afterwards, we don't have to see each other ever again." The thought was a sad one, but he couldn't force her to be something she wasn't.
