"Oh, I'm sure I'll have no problems catching you in the future," Avarice pointed out. "I know your smell, now, I can track you as well. I'm not going to keep feeding you in the future, you're going to have to catch your own damn meals."

That, at least, startled Avarice into a laugh, and he shook his head. As does went, she wasn't terrible. Maybe he wouldn't take a hunk out of her. "Why did you steal the damn snake from me, anyway? Are you that lazy that you don't want to catch your own?"

Avarice gave a derisive snort and sat his back end down on a convenient tree root. "If you wanted to meet me that badly, you could have just said hello," he pointed out. "Would've been less trouble."

"Who says I'm interested?" Avarice tilted his head slightly, studying her; he didn't want to admit she was right, so instead he simply huffed. Unskilled in the art of small talk -- because the idea bored him to tears -- he simply watched the doe, taking her in.
