Hel didn’t think Shun would launch into thrust strikes so soon, so the Grim actually surprised her. She made a grunt as her spear slid across her mid section, but luckily, once again, she was wearing her chain mail. As Shun took the time to pull the weapon back up for another strike, Hel brought her leg up and kicked the pole, aiming to mess up his trajectory.

She brought the oar around again from where she had it before, and swept at his legs this time.

Hel was grinning like a fiend as Shun went down on his back. Sadly, it was very apparent she was enjoying having the upper hand in this battle. Her ego was boosted further by the fact she was owning the grim with a non-bladed weapon that wasn’t hers as well.

The reaper loomed over him, and had Mac’s oar ready to thrust into him.

His stomach.

Hel actually cringed with the paddle of Mac’s weapon hit the ground…instead of soft supple sculpted Shun flesh.

…Hopefully the Psychopomp didn’t have a telepathic connection with his weapon…but for some reason Hel wouldn’t put it past Mac to know if she had been abusing his oar. Still caught in that movement, Hel was swept off of her feet, letting out an ‘OOF’ as she hit the ground. She wasn’t defenseless though, for as soon as she could, she readied the oar and thrust it back at Shun, aiming for his torso to push him away from her.

Hel grinned as Shun couldn’t parry her in time, and as soon as he was hit and staggered back, she leapt back up to her feet and readied the oar. She blocked his quick swing, and immediately parried as well, looking to capitalize while he was still caught off guard. “How you feeling, Shun~?” Hel asked, grinning away.

Of course, as expected, Shun was doing pretty awesome for someone who wasn’t even proficient in pole armed weapons.

Oh, Shun didn’t want to answer? Fine then! Hel was just grinning away as she charged back in at the boil. She maneuvered the oar to go in for another thrust attack, not at all relenting as the Grim was worn down.

Shun would have to admit quits…or Hel would have to make him force his hand. She’d see what happened first.

Hel was still just grinning away. “Ah, I love how determined you are!” She cried. It’s what made this exciting, and why she and Shun were such good friends in the first place. The reaper was still full of piss and vinegar as she kept up with the spar, and relented for a few moments as Shun back away defensively.

Since the boil was slowing down though, it was becoming easier for Hel to read his movements. She dodges the swing entirely by jumping up, and countered the attack with a downward vertical stroke with the oar.

“Nah, I would not do you that dishonor!” Hel replied with a grin. “It is because I know you will not give up so easily that makes this exciting!” There was no hesitation or remorse for forcing the Grim down and in pain, and Hel was about to execute another attack, until Shun did something that caught her off guard. She almost didn’t react quick enough. Almost.

Once Hel landed on her feet, it was, luckily, a knee jerk reaction to bend back as she saw her spear coming towards her, and she stared at the engraved writing in the blade as the weapon sailed over where her head once was.

The reaper laughed, absolutely delighted.

“Touché, friend, touché!” Hel flipped backwards and readied the oar properly, taking only a moment before she lunged back at the grim with a horizontal sweep.
