"Of course you have a choice," Camelot looked at him seriously. "You're made to believe you don't, like Chaos is the only answer, but you can live without it. You don't have to be its puppet. However much you hate Order, whether by order or by your own decision, we still hold the door open to you, and would welcome anyone who wanted to leave Chaos and seek... asylum with us."
He nodded his head, knowing that it was a slippery slope, though, and those that went to Chaos, forced or not, could not easily turn it away. It was a powerful force and it was dangerous. They didn't call it corruption lightly.
But Camelot would keep talking, keep putting the idea out there.
One day it might do some good.
"Change the world into what?" Camelot watched him, shaking his head. "Why do you need that power to do it? Why did you steal so much energy, so many starseeds, to try it? Do you know how many people still die because of all this? Do you ever stop to think that the people caught in the cross fire might be your own friends or family, and you might never know that? They'll just die one day, vanish and never return. I don't know. It's too much of a change, if you ask me. It's not what the world needs. The world needs peace, and we need to find middle ground. Chaos and Order exist to balance the other out, but that doesn't mean they need to be constantly at war."

"The only friends or family that I worry about are the ones that stand by me; the other Lieutenants, Captains and Generals." He wasn't sure why it came out that way, but it did. He was certain that was the answer he was supposed to give in situations such as this. He was just as certain that it wasn't the complete truth. He had friends, had friends before he'd just gone and disappeared on them. Was it his fault that he'd lost them? Lost touch, lost hope, lost... Lost, "... What if we can't live without it? Have you thought about that? What if the only way to make it stop is to put an end to it all? Ours won't be the only hands with blood on them, then."

"I don't believe that," Camelot said, shaking his head. "You might not believe that, one day, either. Or not. Whatever happens, I hope that both of us live to see the end of the war, whatever it might be, and maybe by then both sides will have figured it out. That's all I hope for. I know we're capable of finding peace, but it's not an easy road."
He sighed, shaking his head. It did seem like an impossible goal, sometimes, but he knew that Chaos could not be the strongest force in the universe. They had their will, their need to survive and to protect those that could not protect themselves. Order persevered against terrible conditions because it was necessary.
Because the world just could not manage in the state it was in. There had to be something more. A better place to raise a family in.
"I know there is a way to peace that does not need one team or the other to be eradicated. It's whether other people will take the chance to believe in that, too, that will make the difference."

"It's a shame there aren't more who think the way you do." He murmured, so softly it was almost as though he wasn't expecting his words to get picked up. He brushed his fingers through his hair once before before turning his back to the elder man, more to think about now than he'd had to think on before. Why were things so complicated? Shouldn't it just be a matter of black and white? "Thanks for the insight, Camelot, Knight of Earth. Now I know a little bit more about one other factor in the game. Here's hoping we don't have to fight somewhere along the line. I'm not sure my cards could hold up to your resolve." He smirked before stepping over the ledge, dropping down to the fire escape just below to make his exit.

Camelot heard the comment, but it was easy enough to figure that the young Lieutenant did not want it to be heard, or, really, part of the conversation. The Knight of Earth let it slide, then, watching him as he turned away.
He didn't go to stop him, nodding his head.
He smiled despite himself, shaking his head. It had been a tense conversation, and it made his brain crackle and fill with thoughts and memories. He could hardly focus and he had a lot to consider, but he felt like he had made a small difference.
Maybe it wouldn't do anything, but he had at least given the Lieutenant something to think about. He sighed and turned his attention back to the city below, feeling a sense of pride and a deep attachment. This was a place worth saving, and he was going to keep doing his best.
