Discordia’s lips parted and her cheeks blushed as she looked to Requies. She was still unsure of why he would think her of being beautiful. She looked all too well like her Father, or at least she figured she did considering that she didn’t really look like her Mother or anyone else of the herd. Plus it didn’t help that Florian didn’t speak of Discordia’s biological Father much. She smiled and blinked away from the young stallion and lowered her head to hide her blushing cheeks from him behind her mane. “I do not doubt my Mother could manage on my own. And I don’t doubt she wouldn’t like you, but…I don’t really agree either,” she said. “It’s hard to explain, Requies. And you’d have to meet my herd and see my brothers to really understand. We’re so different looking…I want so much to fit in,” Discordia sighed softly as she opened her talons and let them drop down gently.

She shook her head and tucked in her wings. “Enough sad chat,” she turned to Requies with a bright smile as if nothing had fazed her. “It’s depressing and your visit here shouldn’t gloomy,” she said. “Now, then…If I was to come with you on this adventure, would you keep me safe? And what about my faithful companion, would he be allowed to come as well? You know he would follow even if you were to disagree. Plus, something tells me that even if you were to put up a fight with him than you would most likely lose,” she laughed softly at the thought of her odd-looking creature friend brawling with Requies.

“Where would we go? What would we see?” she asked with a bright, bubbly tone. She paused for a moment before turning to the young stallion with their noses almost touching. “The ocean Requies! I want to see the Ocean!” she gleamed with bright eyes. “And the snowy woods that my Mother traveled to when she was my age. Think we could do all that?” she asked him with an optimistic smile.

Requies enjoyed the fact that she had a rather lovely glow spreading out through her face. He wanted to comment on it or tease her but he did not want to make her feel awkward over the situation. He could only be curious what she might think of him?

He listened to her speak about her mother in silence .Her mother sound like someone who might be trouble for him in the future if he was to set forth with his feelings, however he felt like it was worth all the stress in the end. Besides taking an easy route sound boring to him and liked the sense in a challenge in life. His golden orbs landed back on her “I would protect you from the beastliest creature there is. I will not let a single skinwalker lay it’s filthy clawed paw upon you.” He bowed his head in a mock knight gesture and then he looked upon the creature “I would be in despair if he did not company us.” He grinned at it.

“The Ocean, wish to see those mer creatures? I think they are called seathi? I’ve never seen one before myself…though seeing the ocean does sound very lovely.”

Discordia knew very well that Requies wouldn’t allow anything or anyone to harm her. Not to mention she would always have the safety of her little companion pet. “Would you allow me to think of venturing out with you?” she asked softly. She wasn’t sure how she’d tell her Mother or anyone of the herd that she would be exploring out a bit. And of course, not to mention, the subject of traveling with Requies. But would they really need all the details? She laughed softly and shook her head. “I don’t see why you would want to even explore unknown lands with me? I’m sure a fellow friend of yourself would be more company than I,” she said as she led Requies along the mountain’s side. “Here we are,” she said as she pushed a couple low branches out of the way. “There’s a little cave here that’ll suit you well for night. And a good thing we’ve found it as it’ll be nighttime soon,” she said as she walked to the cave. The entrance wasn’t all that big or wide, even for dainty ‘ol Discordia who had to struggle a bit before fitting through. But the cave itself, which was one den was plenty wide enough for the two. The stone flooring was already dusted with some moss and leaves for bedding. “I do hope this is okay for you,” she called out to Requies. “I was here only a couple nights ago. The bedding is still soft. I’ll find you something to eat if you’d like?” she asked with a soft smile.

His eyes fastened on to her and Requies suppose she did not pick up any of his vibes? Perhaps he was not the obvious type to begin with being he always spoke rather vague depending on the soquili he was conversing with, still he had hope she’d take notice. Requies gave her a light smile “Why would I travel with anyone else? Besides I can see the thirst of adventure in you.” He laughed a bit.

The dark stallion glanced upon the cave and gave a light nod. The place would do him quite well and he suspected it would be out of her mother’s sight. He glanced over towards Discordia “I shall await your decision!”

Then turned to look at the cave and back at her “Oh, you don’t have to trouble yourself. Surely an adult like myself can find myself some food.” He grinned.

“It would be no trouble at all Requies. Here, you rest a bit and I’ll go get you something to eat,” Discordia’s smile blossomed as she looked to him. “You’ve traveled very far and need to lie down a bit. Really, let me do this for you—it’s the least I can do.” And with that being said the young female moved past the stallion, towards the entrance of the little cavern, and then trotted out into the woodlands. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure that he wasn’t following her, quickening her pace as she hurried down the hidden paths that she knew of. Discordia wasn’t so certain if she would actually follow him on an adventure away from her homelands. This place—these forests, were the only places she knew of. Not to mention, what would her Mother think?

“Discordia?” a voice called out.

The young mare stopped quickly with ears pulled upright. Her tail dropped in between her hind legs as she glanced over her shoulder. “M-Mother?” she exhaled with rose cheeks. Discordia gulped quietly as she pulled her ears down a bit.
Busted.

He gave a light nod and watched as she walked away. His eyes fasted on her backside never drawing away until the last very minute when she would disappear within the trees. Requies let out a sigh and took a quick glance around the cave. It was nothing special but since she felt it to be a safe haven he could not help but picture the same. He could only imagine if her mother has picked up his scent already, what could happen? He wondered.

The dark stallion thought best to keep in to the darkness of the cave. Hoping that he was well hidden enough and thanking his parents for giving him dark features. Though his golden eyes were probably the only think he could not hide away. It was as if two golden orbs were just floating in midair.

“Hmmp..”

“M-Mother what are you doing here?” Discordia gulped quietly trying to act casual even though she was shaking in the inside. If her Mother found out that she was trying to keep a stallion within the herd’s borders…Well…Discordia tried desperately not to think of what her Mother or anyone of the herd might do if they did actually find out.

“I came out looking for you,” Florian responded as she looked to her daughter. “You told me that you were going to take a quick break. I didn’t expect you to take this long and this so far out,” her eyebrows furrowed as she looked Discordia up and down. “You’re not hurt are you? How come you’re way out here?” she asked question after question. Discordia shivered as she looked away and down at her hooves. “I—I,” she started to say. “I lost myself. You know me and how I can get when taking walks. I just…lost track of time and where I was walking to,” she lied.

At first Florian didn’t say anything as Discordia looked up to her Mother. “Well you should head back to the herd. They’re all worried about you and it’s getting late,” Florian told her. “Come on now,” she turned and motioned for Discordia to follow, but her daughter didn’t budge. “Discordia? What is it?” Florian’s voice full of concern. “It’s just that…I found some of those berries my…erm, companion likes. You know him…Uh…it…I’ll return to the herd, yes. I just have to gather these berries,” she lied again. Oh, how Discordia hated lying—especially to her own Mother.

“Shall I wait for you?” Florian asked quickly. Discordia smiled and shook her head. “I know my way home, Mom. I won’t be long…I promise,” she smiled. Florian nodded and nuzzled her daughter goodbye before returning to the herd. Discordia waited a minute…then another minute, and finally to make sure she trotted ahead and couldn’t smell or hear her Mother anywhere in the nearby distance. Perfect! She exhaled loudly and hurried back to the cavern where Requies was.

“My Mother found me!” she breathed heavily with eyes full of worry. “That was a close one…Requies, what if she comes back? What if someone else from my herd comes back? I cannot lie to them! I cannot tell another lie to my Mother! And hiding you here…it’s rude…and…it’s not right…and…it’s not safe for you,” she stomped her hoof on the ground of the cavern. “I forgot to get you some food! Ugh! Shall I go back---“ she paused as thunder echoed in the distance. “Great,” she sighed and rolled her eyes as she leaned against the cave’s wall. “Just perfect…” she groaned and fell onto the ground with another heavy sigh escaping from her vocals. This day just couldn’t get even more worse.

She found her? The young stallion flinched a bit. When she said she was going to out he was about to tell her to forget it but the sudden sound of thunder stopped him. He could hear the rain start to come down from within the cavern and he watched as she made her way down towards the ground. Requies felt a great urge to approach and comfort her.

It was so unlike him to show much comfort to anyone other than his family but this mare made him do things that was unusual to him. He approached her quietly and leaned down to nudge her lightly in the side “It’ll be okay.” He said softly in the darkness. He could not understand the great stress she held for her mother’s knowledge of her location. The only thing he could do was stay by her side and give comfort. He had a feeling if she did not show up back at the herd; her mother was surely to send out a search party. Then what would he do?

If anything he was tired of hiding from her mother. He was ready to face the mare head strong as long as it got him what he wanted the most. His golden eyes rested upon her form “You’ll have to wait for the rain to pass. Then I’ll escort you home.” He was serious and he would not take no for an answer. Though if she wanted to leave instead of returning he would gladly show her the world if she asked of it!

Discordia’s lips parted as she looked to the stallion whose eyes glowed in the darkness of the cavern. Instead of say anything, she simply nodded her head with a warming smile. “Thank you,” she finally whispered as she stood up and stood close to Requies. The smile on her lips blossomed as she lifted her head and draped it over his neck. Her eyes closing for a brief moment as she nuzzled him. “You’re quite understanding, you know that? Because of that I am very grateful. Seems like you’re the only one here who really understands me,” she opened her eyes and faintly laughed. Discordia lifted her head and stood back from him as she looked past him to the cave’s entrance. She could hear the rain pattering against the stone. Thankfully it wasn’t raining hard, but the thunder still echoed and lightening flashed. “Aren’t you afraid of what my mother might do if you did escort me home? Or worse…the rest of the herd…” she gasped, ears pulled back. “I don’t want you getting hurt on my behalf. It just wouldn’t be fair,” she sighed. “You certain of this?” she asked him with a concerned look. “I can always escort you back home…well…as far as I can possibly go. It would be no trouble at all,” she reassured him. “I just don’t want you getting in trouble,” she smiled warmly.

He stiffened up a bit against her touch but eased in to it. The dark stallion smirked thinking about her mother. Could she be really all that bad? He had a feeling this mare was a controlling one and she probably did not like anything outside tradition. Requies lightly nuzzled back “I’m sure, it’ll be dark and I can’t have you wandering in the woods heading home. Besides—“

He paused for a minute “What kind of a stallion would I be? To allow a pretty mare alone in the woods past dark, to many dangers at night.” He chuckled a bit.

“Ha, you escort me home? Hmm, well if you wish to travel to my homeland that is fine, though I must warn you of the appearances of my father and brother.” He thought of their grotesque features though it never bothered him one bit. His mother and sister on the other hand were much like him in appearance. He smiled a little "Don't worry about me getting in trouble! Besides, I'm tired of hiding from your mother."

Discordia’s smile brightened as she looked to Requies feeling overjoyed and happy that he no longer wanted to hide from her Mother, even more so wanting to actually escort her home once the storm had passed.

Honestly what was the worst that Florian, her Mother could actually do? It’s not like she would actually harm Requies and the most Discordia would get was a long lecture on how not to bring strangers into the herd’s lands. Oh well, she thought silently. Discordia wanted---needed to get away from these lands. She wanted to go out there and venture alongside Requies.

“I don’t believe I should be feared by appearances. You’re not at all threatening…I mean, sure when I first met you maybe I did feel some fear. But…Now that I know you a bit more it doesn’t faze me at all,” she smiled warmly. “Besides look at myself,” she stepped back a bit. “I’m a misfit. You say I’m beautiful, but I can’t see it. All I see is some sort of a freakish monster,” she sighed.

Discordia quickly shook her head. “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to dampen the mood,” she apologized. “And you should know that I’ve thought about it…thought about taking that offer of traveling with you. I’ll speak about it with my Mother,” she said. “And when I do talk to her about it I’d like you there with me. If that’s okay?” she asked, hoping for a positive answer.

He just shook his head; he could not understand her being so self-confident in her appearance. One thing for sure he needed to do was to help her overcome that image she has set out about herself. No one should have to live their life feeling that way about themselves, even more so for someone as beautiful as Discordia.

His eyes rested upon the mare and a smile crept up “Of course. I would have it no other way; your mother should at least know who your traveling companion would be.”

Requies had a feeling that it might take lots of convincing and there was probably the possibility her mother might deny her the permission. Though he wondered would she obey it when the time has come, also what would happen with him? Would he be kicked out and never able to see Discordia again? Luckily, he was never one to follow the rules.
