Even with all his curiosity, and bottled up rage, there definitely seemed to be a shift within Iris herself. She had seemed so bored just a bit earlier, with such an expression of indifference. Yet now, her golden eyes locked with his, sympathy seeming to be the only thing they exuded now. Her feelings of the other lifetime usually did not affect who she was as a senshi. What had set her off was questionable at best, however, it seemed that the modern Sailor Iris had slipped away for a bit.
He had prompted her, and the blonde seemed to almost think over her words before she spoke out. "I speak of memories locked away by time..."
Her words seemed far more thoughtful than the usual bile that escaped her lips.
"...worlds you will never be able to truly access as long as chaos leeches onto your starseed..."
She paused. There were three more words she wanted to say, but she knew the moment she said them, she was making herself more vulnerable.
...I pity you...
The words went unspoken, and eventually she found different words to put in their place. "...the asteroid.... it was truly a wonderful world when it was at its peak of glory..."

The wraith was all but forgotten; Remarque found himself far more interested in the senshi before him than he had been in any wraith—much less this one. Her words were interesting, but that look was something he just couldn't stand. Something about her expression, the way she was saying things, was rubbing him the wrong way.
He liked to consider himself a man fairly on top of things—memories locked away by time? Bullshit, he had a great memory.
Just not of whatever she was prattling on about.
"How about," he suggested, seeming rather brisk, "Instead of being Little Miss Cryptic over there, you give me something I can work with. What memories, what asteroid?"
He was curious—and it was hard not to let it show. At this point, he didn't even think there was any effort in hiding it. What he was trying to hide was the anger boiling in his stomach. Anyone that knew more than him was trouble. He had little to offer in exchange but offered, in a tone quite a bit gentler, "Tell me what you know…?"

Remarque seemed to prefer the upfront approach to things, trying to cut to the point with Iris with several rather sharp questions. She tilted her head to the side, a gesture that was far gentler than her other self was capable of.
He had been direct, so she would be direct as well. "...Do you think you would even believe me if I did tell you what I know?" There was a subdued cynicism to her voice, but it was still present. Her eyes were locked upon his. His words might have been capable of lying, but she wasn't after his words.
She wanted to judge his core reaction for herself.

Remarque's eyes narrowed a bit, partially out of irritation and more so out of curiosity. Whatever information Iris seemed to be guarding was picking at his brain now—like a secret, just out of reach. "It's possible. But you withholding information isn't going to do either of us any favors. Do you think that if I thought, for a second, that I was in the wrong that I would keep as I was?"
Not that he would take everything she said at face value; she was still an enemy. For all he knew, she was just making this up on the spot. She was only wasting his time so she could buy herself a few extra seconds to formulate a decently constructed lie. "If you have information, what do you gain from keeping it from me? And if your only argument for not telling me is that you think I wouldn’t believe you?" He shrugged, still watching her closely. "I have no reason to distrust you, Iris. Do I?"

His reaction seemed tense, though the reasoning, Iris could only guess at that point. It wasn't hard to see she was technically antagonizing him with her words. His questions, his inquiries, all had answers, but the girl didn't speak many of the answers aloud.
What did Iris gain from keeping the information from him? She gained nothing, but she was doing it in the interest of the asteroid of Remarque.
Was there reason to distrust her? He had as much reason to distrust her as she did to distrust him, merely because of the way chaos affected each of them at that point. She could pity him, but that did not mean she had to trust what she pitied.
Did she think that if he was in the wrong, he would keep as he was? She took in a small breath before uttering her answer. "You would do as you needed to do to get the information that you needed." Despite how different this young man was to the senshi she had known in the Silver Millenium, she had noticed he was similar to herself in a way.
She took a couple steps back, still keeping her eyes upon this Remarque. However, when she opened her mouth, she gave him tidbits of what he had been asking for. She tried to select her words as carefully as possible, but one never knew how much would process through when it was such an abstract topic to begin with.
"One thousand years in the past was the Silver Millenium. During that time, there was an asteroid that was half daylight and half darkness. Half of the world was known for the arts, a place where many would come to explore the different aspects of the finer things. The other half was a wasteland, a place which many feared due to the dangerous terrain and wildlife. A world of balance... named Remarque."
There was a pause. "...it is a world I visited frequently enough..."

It was strange, to hear her speak as she did. He had known that other senshi had worlds—that they'd lost them. He knew that each senshi was named after some celestial object.
White Moon Senshi. Senshi from the Negaverse, even.
But Dark Mirror Senshi?
It was a thought, vague and muddled in the back of his mind. One he had pondered, but had invested very little real thought in. He had separated himself from the other senshi on so many levels that it seemed foreign that Dark Mirror Senshi, too, would have worlds of their own, drifting in space.
But really—what reason would they not?
And the way Iris spoke—that she knew of it. That—not only that—she had been there? The words did not stir anything within him—no deep buried memories just waiting to be unveiled.
It was as if she had described some foreign country—except it had his name on it.
She had said it was a world she visited frequently enough—and one question flashed in his mind before all others. Without hesitation he asked, "Why?"

Her answer wasn't very drawn out.
"I was prone to travel." All of ********* girls were, but the details to her own travels was not up for debate at the moment.
It was hard to tell exactly what was going on in the dark mirror senshi's head. However, it didn't seem like disbelief had overcome him. He looked more intrigued than cynical at the moment.
It was all the Princess needed to see before retreating back in Iris' mind, allowing her more usual self to return to light.
"...So... um... yeah... that lil' retard wraith thingy..." Her golden eyes went to glancing behind him again, as if trying to locate the mirrowraith which Remarque had been looking for. Amidst all that talking, it seemed as if it had scampered away.

When Iris slipped back into her typical speech patterns, Remarque figured she was done giving him information. Which was disappointing, as he'd know gotten a scrap of interesting information and lost the wraith he'd been hunting.
He scoffed, turning away from the senshi to scan the area. A part of him hoped the wraith was just going to jump out again and he could get back to it now that Iris wasn't indulging his curiosity, though it seemed that it was just another dead end.
"Yeah. The wraith thingy. If you don't have anything else to say, I really ought to go get it before it gets into trouble. I mean, I would hate for it to go tussle with some poor, innocent civilian and all. Best to fetch it before someone gets hurt," he concluded, reverting to his typical haughty self. It wasn't that he wasn't, on some level, grateful for the information Iris had granted him—he just didn't want her to know how quickly his mind was racing right now.
She'd gotten to him—and he could hardly focus on anything but the idea of a homeworld—a senshi that was him but not him, of which this asteroid belonged…
How was he supposed to hunt a wraith—much less hold up a conversation—when he was trying to sort out those thoughts?

She didn't have any intent to get in the Dark Mirror Senshi's way any further. Even with that odd wraith lurking about, the fact that he claimed he was going to take care of it seemed legitimate.
"I ain't gonna get in yer way..." With that, she sprinted off.
Within moments, she had pulled out her phone and texted the senshi she was supposed to meet up with. Apologies weren't her style.
See ya in a moment!
No explanations at all. It wasn't exactly Eunomia's business who she just ran into as long as nothing went to hell, right?

Remarque stared after the senshi for a short moment and then shook his head, exasperated. He would never understand White Moon Senshi—least of all, that one.
Resolved to catch the wraith before he made it home, Remarque heaved the mirror up with renewed vigor and, when he was certain that Iris wasn't keeping her eye on him, trotted after it.
Whatever she had to do tonight couldn’t possibly be as important as this, but he hoped it kept her busy for long enough to get his business done without any more awkwardness.
