Rin wandered over to sit verrry carefully on the foot of her bed, ensuring her robes kept closed. "I enjoyed your company too but I just," she frowned at Melvin a bit more honestly. "There's that now and you aren't interested and I don't get what it is that I don't have... and I'm just exhausted and tired and I don't want to play this game anymore." The look on her face withered and she just looked... really really tired.

"This was a game to you?" He wasn't sure what she meant. "You can't even be friends with me even after this? Why? You messed with Rep and you were fine being friends with him even now that you can't have him. Why can't we just go back to normal?"

Rin set her jaw, "It's not a game Melvin, that was a metaphor." She rubbed her temple, struggling to explain this to Mr. questions every little last detail of everything. "You aren't ******** Rep. You are Melvin, do you really want me to treat you exactly like I treat him, because you seriously would not like that."
She slid her hand to rub her eyes, "I just really really like you, like, Like I like you. Not like I like him. I feel different about you. I don't know how to deal with this. I don't think I can just be friends with you because friendly is not how I feel about you, okay? Looking at you just reminds me that I'm just..," she trailed off and pressed her lips into a straight line.

He walked over and knelt down, not wanting to stand and look down at her. That probably wouldn't help how she was feeling, and he'd rather look up than down. From how Rep said, whatever impression he was giving was that of making everyone else feel as if they were morons. While some people this was true, that wasn't how he thought of Rin.
Running a hand through his hair, he breathed out. He really hated conversations like this. About him and sex. "You don't lack in anything, Rin. I would be lying if I didn't think you were beautiful." The terrycloth robe and wet hair helped make that very apparent. "...but..." ********, how did he say this?
Rising, he adjusted his glasses, thinking, and just took his glasses off to fold them in one hand as he pressed his fingerpads against the lids of his eyes. "...I don't do....relationships. If I want sex, I have sex, but then I don't want to see that person again. I'm not a romantic either. It's just how I work. I said No because I wouldn't be good for what you are looking for. I can't be that person. I couldn't look at you after we just messed around either." He couldn't face the conversation that would happen after or any weird looks.
"I want to still hang out with you. That can't happen if we screw around. Do you get that?" He wasn't sure if he was coming off as a complete d**k or being very unclear. He stopped pressing his fingers against his eyes and looked back at her.
Sighing, he tried to think about this whole mess they were in. "If we screw around, I wouldn't want to hang around with you. I was hoping that if I said 'no', we could still be friends. Seems that you can't have it unless it's a 'yes'. So.....I guess this is both a ******** up thing either way."
It was never easy.
"..but don't think it's just you." As clique as it was, it was going to wind up being him that screwed it up.

Rin watched Melvin keenly as he approached and knelt down. Then stood again. She scooted to the side on her bed and pat the spot beside herself. "I just don't get it, I guess. Why do you make this so hard? If you find me attractive and I find you attractive... then why do you have to be so... why would you have to leave after? What are you wanting to say... but dancing around actually saying?" She drew a quick breath and sighed before looking at him again, "The 'it's not you it's me' line only works so far."

The bed sagged as Melvin took up the offer and sat. Today had been far too exhausting, and this wasn't helping. The conversation was too far from comfort, but he'd reach the point where he'd been backed into a corner. Rep had already mentioned that he was getting to the point where no one wanted to even be around him, and if this continued, Rin would be gone too. A night in jail made it rather clear that he had very few he could actually call upon, both literally and figuratively.
Sighing, he rubbed the side of his face. He REALLY didn't want to have this conversation. "Can I just say that I know myself better than anyone else, and there are certain....issues that would make it impossible for us to be together?" He said, his tone almost a hopeful plea that Rin wouldn't push this any farther and just be satisfied with that explanation.

He stared at her a moment, trying to figure out what the hell she was even talking about before his eyes lit up. "No! Geez no. That - I'M fine and...whole and all." God, she wasn't this easy and now she was going off on some train of thought where he was somehow unable to get it on.
A bit pinker now, he ran a gloved hand through his hair, struggling to really put this in a way that didn't make him seem.........very weird.
"I'm very...selective and ...I like things a certain way." He scratched his cheek. "My ex called it exhausting." The memory of the only person he would call really call a ex stung, and he hadn't had anyone long enough to call a ex since.
He glanced at his gloves as he set his hands in his lap. "I.. wouldn't want you to loose any sort of respect for me in the end." Or think he was completely off his rocker.
"And I like my privacy." Sighing at the entire weight of having to even have this talk, he set a hand on his brow.

Rin gave Melvin a baffled look, "So... basically you are assuming I'm not willing to have a certain kind of sex with you... then doubly assuming I would tell everyone about it? Is that what I'm hearing?" She raised a brow sloooowly at Melvin before relaxing the stare down to sigh and look to her lap. "Look. You aren't the only one to have kinks you know. Some of us like swings, others like being pinned and bitten, some might even like... tails or... I don't know. It's no big deal."

"THIS isn't a kink." He said, sounding frustrated with himself and her. "It's not someone dressing up because they want to get some excitement out of something they started feeling was boring. It's not entertainment or a wild itch that I need scratched every once in a great while. It's..." He breathed out, just finding it hard to pinpoint it exactly.
"The big thing is is that it isn't easy or a everyday thing. It's just who I am. I don't want things to get weird between us, but when you say you're getting over things and moving on - you're pretty much saying that that is me too. Right?" That's what he got from what she was saying.

"I'm saying I'm very attracted to you and I can't look at you without wondering... It's just.. I don't know. Sorta like stringing me along because I feel like I will always want that and if you are telling me it won't ever happen then it's just... I like you as a person a lot but like.. I really really like you. Beyond a friend. It's not fair to look at you wanting more and knowing I can't and you won't even tell me exactly why."

Well, he was ******** one way or another, and he sighed at that reality. He did prefer literal ******** over figuratively. If he left without saying anything, Rin would continue to wonder if it really was her fault.. If he remained - then he had to offer more.
I hurt people. It's what he was being told, but everything he did wasn't with that intent. Well, most of the time. This time, when he had said no, it was to prevent that, but that had turned out to have the opposite effect.
"I don't want to be with you, because I'll wind up hurting you. It won't end pretty, and the island is small. Word would get around." He mumbled a bit, not looking at her as he glanced about her room. Typically he always looked someone in the eye. This was not one of those times.

"You don't know that," Rin reached out towards his leg. It hovered a few inches above. Wanting to pat him, but not sure if the gesture would be welcomed or feared. "I was told something wise once that I'm going to share with you; 'Sometimes you can't see a reason to keep fighting, but, there are always reasons'." She may have edited that quite a bit, but she felt the point was still made without all the '********'.

He looked at her in a way that said said he was judging that statement and whoever said such a ridiculously cheesy thing. "Right. That's very....cute." In short, Rin was asking if she was even worth fighting for.
Well is she?
JESUS CHRIST, SALIVA! I forgot you were in here. Nearly gave me a heart attack!
I'm always here, Melvin.....well? Is she?
He sighed, not knowing if the racing heartbeat was due to Saliva's sudden mental appearance or the question.
His eyes traveled to the hovering hand, and he knew that she already knew a bit about it. "You already know a bit about it, don't you?" He gestured to her hand. "Not touching."

Rin looked at her hand, she wasn't aware she was even really doing it. She moved the hand to place it down on the edge of the bed "I wasn't sure if you wanted me to even touch you right now." She vaguely lied. She wanted him to say it. It wasn't her job to draw conclusions anyway... but did this mean it was true? "Do you want me to touch you?"
