Merlinite, smarting and aching, got to his feet and grinned at Vesuvius as he backed up, glad that the baton attack had gotten him a moment to recover himself and his footing. He couldn't help but laugh, a mixture of excitement and relief. He was in a fight and not losing terribly!
He would count this as a win, whether he actually won or not.
Oh, s**t, the Knight was attacking again.
"Hey now!" Merlinite was not familiar enough with Chaos to know how to banish his baton so Vesuvius couldn't grab on to it. Instead, he held on to it and tried not to let go, desperate in that he did not want the Page to get any more one ups on him.
Getting socked in the face was never fun. Getting socked a few times was just awful. He stumbled away and lost his hold on his baton, slipping to his butt on the ground. Okay. His nose was bleeding now and this was not going well.
"ugh, you suck! I'm not going to forget this, you a** hole!"

"Try and imagine how scared I am of that."
Vesuvius deadpanned, indicating with his tone how few ******** he actually gave over that threat. If he'd beat him once he could damn well do it again and yes, he counted this as a win. Being called an a*****e was not a new experience and in the grand scheme hardly the worst thing he had or could be called. Still, he could take comfort in knowing he hadn't picked the fight to begin with. In the end Merlinite really had no one to blame but himself.
"Anyway, you asked for it all cockiness and attitude. I really hope you'll consider who you pick fights with from now on."
The Page was content to step back after that and let the whole thing be resolved. There was no reason to continue on and he was getting tired and wanted to go to where he was staying and crash on the couch to some old Errol Flynn classic.
"So are we done here?"

Merlinite grunted, but did not feel inclined to justify the ribbing with a response further than that. He imagined the answers would come from him running off, and he did so with as much pride as he could gather. But it was hard, with his face bleeding and his tail between his legs, to feel like he had really won anything from that fight.
One day he was going to get good at this, and that day better happen soon. He was getting very tired of the constant beatings he was taking.
He ran off though, and didn't look back until he was a few streets away, and he was sure there were no more powered auras around him. This was enough for right now, and he was so done for tonight, it was a little ridiculous. He powered down and his nose hurt worse, making him wince.
The walk home was going to be pretty shitty.
