Ahahaha, yes! Victory!

The young woman looked just a little smug when she staggered back up onto her feet with Otto, meeting his sass with a sweet smile. "I wonder? But since were both on equal ground now, it doesn't really matter, does it?" With the most innocent smile on the face, she crouched down then, cupping her hands together and gathering some water in her hands.

And then she quickly stood up and splashed it in the blond's face.

This was obviously followed by running as she dashed deeper into the water and tried to make a break for it.

Otto tried to back up as he saw her gather water, but it was a futile escape. A garbled groan came from the blonde soon after, wiping his face yet again. "Gawdammit.." The escaping girl would not be let go so soon, though. Otto dove after her, getting close enough to sweep an arm across the water in her direction.

Ah yes, the feeble act of making an already soaked partner more soaked while submerged in water. Fun, nonetheless.

The shock of cold water suddenly being splashed against her back made her stop and whirl around, clumsily using her hands in an attempt to splash him back. "Hey, you started it!" She teased, pausing to point an accusing finger at him, "And if you didn't want to get soaked, you should have known better than to bring me to a beach!"

Really though, this date was already a blast. Although Eva knew they would have to return to the doom and gloom that was Deus Ex within a few hours, at least for now, they could act like normal young people.

"Just make sure you don't somehow splash my top off."

Yup. Normal young people.

Give an Eva water, and ye shalt be splashed.

Otto scoffed, crossing his arms and eyeing her with narrow eyes. "Like I ever expect you to behave anyway." He retorted, "Don't matter where I take ya, yer gunna cause me trouble."

Now it seemed like she was really trying to get him to blush again, but Otto was wise to her ways now. "Yeah right, like a little splash fight will knock off yer top." Maybe somewhere deep down he kind of wanted to test that out, but Otto was a better man than that. Maybe. "Now if a tidal wave came rollin' in, that might do the trick. Like that time one of my cousins got knocked off his board and lost his shorts."

Oh man... he forgot about that..

Otto snorted despite himself. That had been way too funny. Apparently Otto did have some good family memories to speak of. He couldn't help it, and started to laugh. "He seriously couldn't find them and refused to come out of the water till we brought him a towel."

...Okay, she couldn't deny that would probably have fun (teasing Otto) no matter where they had gone--that was an honest truth. She was, however, internally a little pouty when the boy barely reacted to her teasing. Darn it, he was getting sharper...which only meant that she would have to step it up a little next time, yeah?

Somehow, anyways. Soon...

The young woman perked up at the mention of the blond's cousin, tilting her head and pushing her dripping hair back and out of her eyes. Now that she thought about it...this was really one of the first times that she had heard Otto say anything about his family. Feeling her lips spread into a grin, she reached out and gave him a playful shove on the shoulder.

"Geez! And let me guess--you just stood around laughing your head off this whole time instead of helping your own cousin out? Poor guy!"

Otto grinned again, "Damn straight. That a** was showboating before he went and got his shorts ate by the ocean. I eventually went out with a towel after he promised to give me 30 bucks. I was like.. 10 at the time so that was a ton of money for me. I wasted it all on candy, though." He smirked lightly and shrugged. "Naturally we held it over his head the rest of the week. I only ever got to see my cousins once a year, so that's a years worth of backed up cousin bugging." Then again Otto was usually on the bugged end of the relationship since he was so much younger. He kept that part silent for now.

"Ever been surfing? Its fun but way harder than it looks. I thought it'd be just like skateboarding but I totally sucked balls at it."

"Thirty dollars?! Geez, Puppy! When I was 10, I was lucky to get five dollars on a special holiday or something!" She made a face at him, but thinking about it, she probably would have blown all thirty bucks on candy too. That was just how most kids thought, she supposed--candy or toys.

...That was how she still thought now. The realization made her pause, and she thought that, in the back of her mind, she could hear Chara let out a light chuckle of amusement.

After poutily telling the gorgon to shut up, she perked up at the word "surfing". "Ooh, no, never! It looks pretty tough though." There was a pause, and then she propped her hands up on her hips and leaned in, her smile becoming mischievous. "Do you really? Do you think I'd be able to beat you?"
PostPosted: Fri Apr 19, 2013 8:18 pm

"He tried to bribe me with ten but I managed to get him up to the thirty by pretending I was gunna walk away like the others did." Bad cousin Otto was a little s**t. Was.. and is.

Otto snorted, looking at the woman like she was silly. "Uh, yea, no. You'd suck way worse than I did. I ain't even been on a board SINCE then." He sassed with confidence. Otto liked the water but he wasn't particularly good at boarding or swimming. About enough to tread water for a short while, but not much more. And yet he still decided he'd be better at boarding than Eva.

Eva just stared at Otto blankly before giving a slow, disbelieving shake of her head. "You were one wily puppy, Puppy. I swear, if I had had a cousin like you..."

She supposed she had gotten pretty lucky to have a cousin like Wilson. Maybe friendly genes just ran in the family.

Ooh, he didn't even stop to consider the possibility that she could do better! Grin widening, Eva leaned forward event more, keeping her face just a few inches away from his. "Oh? You wanna bet, Puppy?" Straightening up suddenly, she turned to glance at the shore again. "Anywhere we can rent some boards or something?"

Otto stood firm as she leaned in, keeping his poker face as unfaltering as he could muster. Within his mind he repeated a mantra over and over again; Don't call his bluff. Don't call his bluff. Don't call his bluff. Don't call his bluff--

Dammit.

"Uh..." His eyes slid to the line of huts and cabanas further up shore, praying nothing was available. Luck was not on Otto's side, as the nearest one did have boards for rent.

Gulping softly, he turned to Eva, poker face still carrying on strong. "Yeah.. looks like there is. Fine. Let's settle this."

Never, ever like Eva catch whiff of a challenge, even one that she would probably fail at. For the most part, the girl was always up for a friendly competition or two, and so her desire for a surfing contest really wasn't that big of a surprise.

...Granted that she couldn't surf, but uh...that...wasn't important...right?

...Right?

Ignoring Chara, who was grumbling about how the girl was inevitably going to crack her head open, Eva turned and offered Otto a wide, beaming smile. Moving forward, she linked her arm with one of his and began marching towards the huts. "You're on! Ready to lose, Puppy?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 21, 2013 7:41 am

Otto shook his head, linking arms with Eva and pressing forward. "You seriously think you can beat someone who has more surfing experience than you?" Even if that experience added up to a whopping 2 or 3 tries on a board. "You ain't even gunna ask for some pointers?"

Now that he thought of it, he wondered if the guy running the hut might have some pointers for him too...

"Pointers from you?" She teased, though her tone was light as she bumped her shoulder against his, "I dunnooo, Puppy! Though maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask the people at the rental for some tips."

Tips like...

You know.

How the hell she was supposed to ride this thing.

Considering Eva had never surfed--or tried surfing--before, the girl honestly didn't expect to do all that great. Still, it wasn't enough to wipe that big grin off her face. The moment they arrived at the hut, she trotted forward to ask for some advice before handing over some money and picking up one of the surfboards...and nearly dropping it on herself. "Ow--geez! You ready, Puppy?"

Otto had to make sure to do better than Eva. His manly pride depended on it. Plus Eva was being super smug, so she needed to be shown how awesome he was. The blonde paid for his board, and held it under his arm, rather accustomed to large and cumbersome objects thanks to Tenya.

"Ready. Don't hurt yurself." He taunted with a haughty expression.

Quote:

Otto and Eva's BEACH SIDE CHALLENGE!

Roll 2 D6 with a -6 modifier, and RP out the results:

+4 to +6 = You ride the wave, and look pretty damn awesome doing it!
+1 to +3 = You are wobbly, but you manage to ride a wave.
ooo0ooo= There was no usable wave. You could only float uselessly in the water.
-1 to -3 = You managed to stand up on the board but the wave knocks you down.
-4 to -6 = You aren't even able to stand up. The moment you try you fall off the board.

By the end of their challenge, who ever has the most points.... Wins!

And yes, getting a negative means subtracting from your points tally. Even if it is already zero or negative.

Eva offered the man at the kiosk a polite thank you as she was handed the board, only to stumble slightly under its unexpected weight. Oooh, boy. What had she gotten herself into? But she couldn't back out now, that was for sure...

Turning to glance at Otto, she offered the boy a sly smile before (awkwardly) making her way up to the blond. "Same goes for you, Puppy. I don't want you landing in the infirmary because of me." Eyes twinkling, she gently bumped her shoulder against his and then made for the water, setting the board down and paddling out a ways away.

Okay, okay, she could do this. She just had to stand up. Easy, right?

...Right! Sure enough, although Eva was wobbly as hell, she did manage to stand up...only to get washed right into the sea by a passing wave.

Oops. "Before you say anything, Puppy, practice makes perfect!"
