Evan had approached the package he had found on his bed after coming back to his room from training as though it was a live land mine. He wasn't sure how it had gotten there--he was positive he had locked the door--but he was quickly learning that just because it looked like a duck and quacked like a duck, in this place, it was probably not actually a duck. He leaned over the bed, careful not to jostle it just in case, and relaxed after reading the note. Finally, something to do, and with the only person he knew on the island. /Oooooo, you're in troubleeeee~/ Gir sing-songed in his head. "I'm not in trouble," Evan muttered, "it's a mission. We're going out." /Out?/ Suddenly, Gir sounded more interested. /Like out-out? Like outside out? I wanna go I wanna go take meeeeeee--/"We're both going." /YAAAAAAAAAAY/"Gir!" /Sorry yaaaaaaaaay/With a sigh of resignation, Evan opened the package, puzzling over its contents. When he arrived at the portals the next night, it was in clothing similar to what he normally wore, only the cargo pants were black and the dark t-shirt was a bit more snug than he was used to.

Tori was surprised to see a parcel on her bed when getting back from some training and wasn’t really on how it got there when she was reading to who it was from since her room was totally open to Ami. But Tori was a little excited to what this mission was going to be, she did hope that because it was a mission from Ami that I could possible be book related but if not then she was still going to support the mission the best that she could. The outfit that had been provided has been something similar to what Tori had a few times in her past had worn so she had no problem wearing it, but at the same time to her was a little strange to be wearing it. Making sure to wear her scarf and coat since it felt wrong to not wear them at all, she even was wearing the boots that she had gotten at Christmas than her normal boots and checking to make sure the headset was on properly before heading out the door. Walking to the Portals did Tori get ever so more nervous and a little excited since she didn’t know were they were going and to who else was going since she knew at least be a small group. Aklin was trying his best on calming his hunter down as it wasn’t very effective as he was if more excited than his hunter to be heading on this mission since it was going to be somewhat different than normal. Arriving at the Portals to spot Ami along with other trainees that some Tori knew along with a few that she had never meet at all. Taking a few deep breaths in attempts to calm herself to where she wouldn’t ramble off random facts and headed right for Ami. “Reporting for duty,” Tori said once getting to Ami and give her a little smile. Ami would see that Tori was nervous and was trying to act like she wasn’t in front of the others.

"H-hey guys."
Pretty soon, others had shown up to the lighthouse as well. It seemed they had a small team for the occasion, which again, had him wondering just what they will be up to.
"Yes. Just came from Gale. Didn't receive too many details, but.. will find out soon enough suppose," Deryk said with a shrug. To Pasha, Jake, Evan, and Tori, he gave a simple little wave.

Ami raised an eyebrow to Pasha. She didn't do well with flattering. "Adulation is kin to knavery," she scolded. Strangely, there was a smile on her face. Mostly because Pasha had called her a "good leader" when in fact Ami was probably one of the weakest full hunters on the island. Following her example, you'd end up dead.
It didn't help that Gale's very attractive and very British voice was feeding compliments into her ear.
At the arrival of Evan, Ami crossed yet another name off her list. She liked the shirt. Excellent choice. "Try to be more prompt next time," she urged, still not looking up from her journal as she took down notes. Of course, "prompt" for Ami meant 15 minutes early, not arriving on the dot.
Tori got a smile and a nod as she checked the girl's name off. No words needed to be said- they'd been familiar enough on missions.
Ami's eyes were daggers upon Jake for insulting her precious British friend. "That informative talk could keep you alive on another mission. Don't treat it so lightly." At his question to what they were going to do, Ami was almost tempted to give him Yoga duty. It was within her powers. With a sigh, she shook her head. No, no- she had to be nice.
So judging from Deryk's response, Gale hadn't informed them much of anything at all. Considering mostly everyone was assembled, Ami began and summarized very quickly. "We're sneaking into the National Library of Sweden to steal a book. Before I hear cries of protest, it's not a normal book. This is the Codex Gigas, colloquially known as the Devil's bible." She rolled her hands, actually looking rather excited for once. "I won't bore you with the details, but all you need to know is that it's a very powerful artifact. One that might be priceless in terms of research. I mean the things it could do for intel on demons alone- and we don't even know if demons are all it covers! It's possesses a-" She sighed, realizing she was rambling a bit. Not everyone could be as excited about reading manuscripts all day. "Well it's got very valuable information and we need to have it." She left it at that before anyone's ears bled from boredom.
If she was looking for some sort of response she didn't wait for it. Ami moved swiftly through the bullet points, gesturing to her ear. "I'll simply assume you all have your headsets in, because to not have them in by now would be very, very bad and you should just leave yourself behind, as that would be less of a burden to the rest of us." Ami was never particularly kind when it came to criticism. "Gale will be on the other end feeding you information. Think of him as your map, your reference. If you have questions, you ask him or myself."
She began writing something down on a paper, for Stormy who had yet to show. It read, "Your captain and her shipmates already went through, sailor. Just go through when you get here, or not at all I don't really care. Ask Gale for a brief, or me when you make it through. We'll wait for you."
Turning to Pasha and Evan she said, "As you two are our newest recruits, I expect you to stay close to the intermediates or myself. No ******** this up." She gave them a sharp look that insured if they did anything out of line, she'd report their sorry butts in an instant. "If you feel unsure or unsafe, pendant out. That goes for all of you." Now she turned to face the rest of them. "I repeat that this is a stealth mission. The slightest malfunction could tip off the guards. I'd much prefer you didn't take risks. It could get us all killed."
On that happy note, Ami turned to the portal. "See you on the other side~"OOC: FIRST STAGE gaia_star The Layout: Everything is quiet as you arrive. The library is much like any large library, and dark save for a few lights that were left on overnight. Good thing you brought your nightvision goggles. Bookshelves line the walls, wrapping staircases that seem endless. Corridors lead every which way, but luckily there are signs pointing to where you can find the Codex. Unfortunately, there are security measures everywhere. You'll need to get passed those before you can do any sort of thievery.
gaia_star Mechanics: Roll a d100 as necessary until you arrive at the correct location. 1-20 - There's nothing in this room but books. Maybe a few creepy paintings. Are the eyes following you or ...? You can take a look around, but you'd probably best get moving. 21-40 - A shout over your headset alerts you that all is not well. Gale informs you there are censor lasers in the corridor. Upon further inspection you can see tiny red lines criss-crossed along the hallway. Hopefully you're limber. Roll 1d6- this is the number of lasers you've dodged. If you roll a 2 or below, touched too many lazers and the guards were notified. They send you back to the entrance, and you'll have to start all over! 3 or above means you've successfully passed that corridor. 41-60 - Unfortunately the only way into the next room is through the vents! You'll have to crawl. It's incredibly cramped and dusty, but hey, you made it to the next room! 61-84 - There's a guard down the hallway/room you're headed towards. Best to regroup! 85-100 - After much wandering around, you somehow manage to avoid the guards and slip into a strange corridor marked CODEX GIGAS DISPLAY. You hear Gale's voice over the headset telling you to wait for the rest of the group.

To everyone arriving, and everyone already there, Pasha looked like a rookie spy kid on her first field day, waving at them with a stupid flustered smile on her face from behind Ami. Hello everyone, yes, even you, Jake, you grumpy toad.
"I apologize, I didn't mean to come off like such!" She responded quietly to Ami, though strangely, she was still smiling. Maybe it was nerves, or maybe Ami had somehow struck a chord of peculiar fondness in her, despite her somewhat dry and impossible to decipher comments. You do look very pretty though, a part of her added silently. Táo smothered the words before they even had a chance to get to her throat.
When Ami detailed the mission to them, Pasha let herself get nearly carried away in both the adventure and the danger and the mysticism of it all. Her eyes even seemed to brighten a bit at the mention of books. When the leader mentioned Gale was on the other end of their headsets, she even mumbled a small, "Oh! Hello, Gale." To the Death hunter, as though it were an important part of their pre-mission meeting.
And then Ami was turning to the portal and apparently it was time to go! Pasha paused for a fraction of a second and then bobbed her head. She could totally do this. Maybe.

Jake only shrugged and rolled his eyes. By informative, he meant completely useless. It was no different than the information he had when he had first signed up for the mission. The LEAST you could do was- Oh, ok, fine go listen to the OTHER death hunter why don't you.
EVERYONE could have been a little more clear. The weapon only sighed.
It seemed waiting had brought upon the arrival of two more hunters, one who Jake remembered as Sherry's friend. Great, after this, he could tell her Tori was actually alive and she could stop harassing him every free moment she had.
When Ami began her explanation, he frowned. Codas Gigax. So they were going to steal some cult item? What the heck was that going to- He stiffened when he heard the word "artifact", the importance of the mission finally sinking in. If they had something like that... His lips slowly curled into a grin.
By that point, he hadn't really been paying attention to Ami, already imagining the possibilities of having such an artifact in their possession, so Chester took it upon himself to make sure the trainee didn't end up getting himself killed within the first 20 minutes.
Yah yah. <... artifact?> You know I never forget that.
To be honest, there wasn't really a point of bringing it, considering he barely, if ever used it on a mission, but it still made him feel better having it on him.
The weapon never got to finish as Jake leapt through the portal.
-----------------------------
It was kind of nice the path to the Codex was given because Jake would have totally gotten himself lost However, he heard footsteps and froze. Oh crud. He started running in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, the room he ran into had a vent. ... only a vent.
He stared at said vent for a while before taking a deep breath. "Gale, I swear, if you laugh, I am going to kill you." Whether or not the death hunter heard what he was saying... or was even watching... who knew.

Jake stared at the red lines criss-crossing the floor.
Yes.
Hell, I am NOT crawling through that vent again.
After a painstakingly long time, he finally managed to pass through the corridor and move onto the next room.

And then after MUCH WANDERING, he finally found what he was looking for. ... and there were guards. Of course. He waited until they finally did their rounds, and when they turned their attention away from where he was, quickly slipped into the corridor.
