Edit!
That's when the horse ran someone, or something spooked it. It charged, going through the crowd, and he lost sight of it, he only had a glimpse to start out with. Damn, he already lost his first lead, who was he going to ask now?

Veronica - for the purpose of teaching - had vastly toned down the volume of her music. Otherwise she would have probably never heard Athan approach.
Unfortunate for him really...
"Oh! You wanna learn too huh?" Even as she spoke the shorter women lunged forward and grabed one of his arms. She was pretty fast all things considered.
Long as he did not push her off she would start to drag him out of the crowd and up to the kids - the whole time rambling on about tricks, techniques, methods, blah, blah, blah. She talked way too fast for most people to understand her sober.
...Obviously she wanted him to try it for the crowd.

He was hardly ready for her to grab him, and he didn't even seem to notice as he was being dragged forward. She was talking a mile a minute, and all the while he found himself inching closer and closer to the center of the crowd. By the time he pulled away from her, it was far too late. The audience expected a show, and well...he was stuck.
It shouldn't be too hard, after all, he was fairly coordinated, and if he could get the movement patterns down before the crowd turned on him, well, he might get some information.
"Alright...step back."
He gestured towards the crowd for those that didn't hear him as his right hand came upwards to touch the hilt of his sword. He freed the weapon, launching it clear into the air with a swift motion upwards.
Athan was always a quick learner, but that generally applied to fighting.
Fortunately for him, dancing was a lot like fighting an imaginary opponent. And although the first thirty seconds of his performance was full of awkward steps and pointless head gestures, his sword was coming closer down to the ground. The crowd began to boo as the sword came about five feet above Athan's head. Some of them were probably wishing that it would come and split the horrible dancer straight down the center.
Athan spun once, fingers opening as he stepped back in the process of his spin. The sword fell into his grasp, and that was all he needed. The weapon acted like a five-foot long glowstick, spinning effortlessly within his hand's grasp as his feet set about keeping the audience guessing. A quick motion of his arm and the sword planted itself into the ground. Athan took a couple steps backwards, then jumped towards the sword, inverting himself vertically in the process. His leg hooked around the hilt of the weapon at the knee, his body having enough momentum to complete two revolutions before he finally stopped with his head against the ground, arms crossed in front of his chest.

The crowd stopped and stared. The kids stopped and stared. Veronica looked at the clouds and thought to herself 'kind of like a horse'... And then they all started to point and laugh. Gut wrenching - near falling over - style of laughter. It was a contagious kind to it was. Some people in the crowd seemed to be strangely awed by his moves mostly because he involved such a huge sword. But seriously - people break dancing in broad daylight alone was a pretty funny thing to watch. (Though most laughed at that finishing move.) After the laughter/awe abated - probably by the time Athan stood once more - most of the small crowd advanced to congradualate or insult. The kids advanced in an attempt to do things to his sword - probably hold it. Veronica took a moment to blow a huge blue bubble that poped loudly. With that done she turned and started off - pulling at her gum then chewing it back into her mouth. Music up once more. Mod Squad And thats enough of this NPC/PC/Whatever for now...I enjoy her too much and I'm not playing. gonk

People were laughing? Oh that was it. Athan pulled himself to his feet, and before he was able to get to his sword, he was swarmed by teenage hipsters and concerned parents alike.
"Dude!" "That was awesome!" "Don't you have anything better to do?!" "He's overcompensating for something with that sword." "I could do better." "I dropped my ice cream."
And then there were the kids that were trying to pull his sword from the ground. They didn't really get very far. Particularly since the weapon was a lot heavier than it looked, not like it looked light to begin with. Athan sighed and shook his head, and after the crowd dispersed, he was finally able to pry his sword away from the youngsters and place it upon his back once more.
"Alright, now before you all go and do something stupid with the rest of your day, can anyone tell me if they know of the Petals of Chaos?"
He received a lot of blank stares. A few parents looked pissed and thought he was talking about a new kind of drug.
Things weren't really going well at all.

Knowing his lead was lost, Kit tried to find Athan again. He seemed to be where all of the people were laughing. And there was also the piles of kids trying to rape the thing. Figureing that his lead went nowhere nethier, he attempted to help the man. Kit held out and arm for the sword, but he was having a little bit of trouble, grasping the hilt was... Difficult.

Bloody hell! "Easy boy, woah! Woah!" People were diving, scattering and screaming in their scramble to get out of the horse's way as Alex was trying to calm it down. Their screaming was not helping.
Soothing voice, radiation of a calm presence, none of that worked. Last resort, another mind rape. She reached out with her own mind, into the horse's. 'Calm.' It was both a command and a mental suggestion. The horse immediately started to slow down, until it finally stopped, looking around in slight confusion.
Alexiel let out a sigh of relief and looked down at Daemon. The bird was still in her lap, quivering slightly. The bell was still in her hand. Everything was in tact and apparently, no one was following her.
"Oi... let's get out of here boys." She turned the horse a bit, urging him southeast through the crowd, towards the residential area. This was not the best place for a horse and she needed to get the beast out of there.

Athan rolled out his shoulder, then ruffled his own hair to get some of the dust and sand out of it.
"Yeah...didn't really find anything out at all. Except for that weird girl with the jacket..."
He looked around the crowd.
"Except I have absolutely no clue where she went."

"What should we do now?" Kit asked, knowing that there isn't any point of staying here, except seeing Athan get laughed at, but it doesn't matter. Where were they going to go now, where was there to go?
((I think this might be my last post for tonight.))

Athan shrugged his shoulders and started heading Northward, towards the gambling district.
"Might as well see if we can find something up north. It's as good a place as any by this stage."
He shrugged off the tapping of a nearby kid, and continued on his way.

Geylkre landed heavily on the planks and lowered his head. Irzael slided off the gargantuan's back and patted his neck, "You fly around for a while. I'll call if I need you." The bird nodded, and then, with three great flaps of his wings, was off and away. "Where to go now..." Irzael thought aloud, as he did so often, "I think I'll hang out here for a while. It's pretty central."

Waking down the boardwalk, he still had both his arms up; hands resting together behind his head.
He figured it shouldn't take that long to reach the Marketplace, but with so much oddity going about, anything was bound to happen.
Of course one might have questioned the validity of direction from a pair of squaredancing penguins, but not him.
It was beter than nothing after all.
He occasionaly stared out of the corner of his eye back to his recent female companion. He didn't quite know what to make of her, but she didn't seem hostile either.
So his guard was pretty much always down around her... a sign of trust... or maybe foolishness.

The guy was obviously not a very chatty person, he liked to keep to himself. He hadn't even given her a name when she'd introduced herself. Ah well, she had taken to calling him Devil because of the symbol on the back of his jacket. However, he did look familiar, so she was sure that if given time, she would remember where she had seen him before and maybe what his name was.
Back on the boardwalk again, Alex was having a much easier time controlling the horse now that she was walking him, rather than riding. She noticed that the civillians on the boardwalk also seemed to have forgotten the earlier disturbance involving the beast as well.
With things being calm at the moment, now was a good time to think. She reached behind her, letting her bookbag fall towards her side where she unzipped and reached in to pull out the bell. Zipping the bag back, she moved it back behind her as it hung by one strap. This would be a good time to examine that bell.
Rafe had said that no one could be sure what form the petals would take. So, could this be one?

"......."
The boardwalk was pretty lively, and the sea breeze was alright, all things considered.
Maybe another time... when he wasn't so busy, he could actually come by for a vacation or something.
"So why are you involved in this...'game'?"

"I'm searching for a young girl named Sejai, I was told that once the petals were gathered, she would appear..." Alexiel paused for a moment, frowning. "She stays with me when she's not wandering, but last time she stopped by my home, she was worried about the Chaos, she was frightened... She ran off and I've been searching for her since. The search has led me to this game that I now find myself playing..."
Alexiel didn't want fame or fortune. She didn't want power either. Alex was perfectly content with her life, running the pet shop in Latent. The only thing she did want was to ensure Sejai's safety.
