Aventine was distressed—and understandably so. She had been insulted, but on no occasion had it ever been so crude. Fatigued, and a bit emotionally distraught, she hadn't expected the attack when it came—and it knocked her back on her a**. She hurt on both sides and almost didn't even want to get up.

But she couldn't just lay there.

"You stupid…" she trailed off, not wanting to finish the thought. She was mad—confused—with Hypnos, but furious with Orpheus. She jeered to the chibi, sounding a little wounded, "You say don't hurt him but not don't hurt her? Really?"

Pain brushed aside any of the drowsiness she still felt, and hastily she pushed herself up, throwing a sturdy kick blindly in Orpheus' direction.

"Shut your mouth, before I do it for you," she seethed, as angry as she could manage. She was hurt, physically and emotionally (which was stupid! This was just some creep, some stranger! What did it matter what he said?) and mad—and she just wanted this guy to ******** off, wanted that little girl to explain what the hell was going on, and then she wanted to just go home and sulk.

Due to what had happened between Orpheus and Hypnos before, the child hadn't expected him to attack anyone for no reason. He'd been her hero, saving her from an attack that definitely would have broken her. Literally. She might not even have been able to get up afterward because what Zippeite had done that night was something she would not have recovered from.

When she heard the sound of something hitting the ground, the skirt of her fuku twirled in the air as Hypnos spun around to investigate the sound. What she seen was something she didn't want to believe, Orpheus towering over Aventine after what was obviously not an accident. She wanted to believe that she'd stood up and fallen from the sleep dust, and that Orpheus was looming over to help her up but his foot pulled back to kick Aventine and immediately Hypnos' screamed like the little girl she was.

She latched onto Orpheus' leg, stopping him from going through with it.

"What are you doing?" She cried out.

He grunted, and with a twist of his lip he simply smiled as he replied, "What does it look like?"

"He's going home!" Aventine snapped, scooting back from Orpheus to try and make sure there was a fair bit of distance between the two of them. "I think he's had enough time out tonight, and I'm gonna kick him in the balls if he sticks around for much longer. He's overstayed his welcome."

Though she spoke in response to Hypnos' question, her words were directed to Orpheus. She didn't imagine that this could get any prettier (and certainly didn't want her feelings hurt any more than they'd already been). If Orpheus didn't want to leave before things got dirty—fine. She'd kicked more than one guy between the legs before.

"b***h–" was all he got out from the sentence he was going to say when she threatened to kick him in the balls. He froze out of the basic fear of that pain that would come with it. He'd had his experiences with it and none of them had ever been pleasant. He mentally cringed, teetering on the decision to stay or leave. He still wanted to go at her but the threat felt very real.

The feeling of Hypnos clinging to his leg was distracting though, and he couldn't think about what he wanted to do. He moved his leg a bit but out of fear that he was going to attack Aventine again Hypnos refused to let go. It caused him to growl, and then suddenly he swung his leg around with enough force that it threw her off. Satisfied about his freedom, he stepped toward Aventine only to stop when he heard Hypnos crying behind him.

He turned, and doing so caused his face to drop completely. She was clinging to her wrist in pain, a sprain caused when she'd fallen suddenly on it when she tried to catch herself. He stepped toward her only to stop when she instinctively tried to shuffle away from him. He'd saved her before but the immediate fear of pain that he'd directly been involved in caused her to fear him, and this fear was so recognizable to him that he felt his body shake.

"I..." he muttered. "I'm leaving."

He meant it, running away from the two of them before guilt overwhelmed him.

Leaving? Well, good. Aventine glared at him, though it was difficult to focus on the Dark Mirror Senshi. She didn't care that the girl had used her magic on her earlier; her attention was immediately on the small girl he'd kicked to the ground.

The crying distressed her, and she hurried over, seeming quite overwhelmed with concern. "—Hey," she said, hands out like she wanted to try and help the girl, though keeping their distance if only because she wasn't sure how welcome it would be. "—Are you all right, sweetie?" she asked worriedly; it was one thing to see such a cute little thing (god, that outfit was precious!) but it was another thing to see her hurting. She wasn't going to let Orpheus get away with this if she could help it; it was one thing for him to attack her (still, the nerve!) but it was entirely different to see him hurting a child. And one that had defended him, tried to protect him, too!

So much for the Dark Mirror Court maybe being good guys, after all.

Hypnos watched Orpheus leave with her breath held, not daring to take a breath or say a word until not just his body disappeared from view but his power signature disappeared from her mental radar. Only then did she gasp for air, sobs coming out of her mouth as she tried to cradle herself. She was clearly in pain but her eyes just stared in the distance where Orpheus had left, the fear not as prominent and the guilt overwhelming.

She felt bad.

She shouldn't have grabbed him like that.

This was her fault.

"I'm sorry," she apologized, picking herself up off the ground with her good wrist.

"Please forgive him," she asked, shuffling her tight-covered feet across the grass as she began to walk away from Aventine.

"I am fine, please do not worry." She said, bowing her head and giving a small curtsey with one hand lifting the end of her skirt.

"Thank you for your concern."

She tried her best, and that best made her sound older than she was.

"I must return home before my absence concerns my sister," she said with a small smile. A sprained wrist was bad, but it was far from the worst thing that could happen to her. Her sister was well aware of the risks, and they became more obvious to Hypnos every day. It was dangerous, and she had to work harder than ever to protect everyone. Her own welfare was important but only second to the welfare of others.

"Goodbye. I hope we can meet again under better circumstances."

And as quick as she'd arrived, Hypnos left as well.

Aventine stared after the girl, suddenly more unsure of how to feel than before. On one hand, she'd just watched a poor, innocent girl get hurt. On the other hand, said girl had defended a Dark Mirror Senshi until the very end. The same one who hurt her. Who hurt Aventine, too.

For a long moment, the squire stared after the girl, glancing over her shoulder to make sure the Dark Mirror Senshi wasn't sneaking up behind her.

A part of her was angry. A part of her was sad. A part of her was hurt.

Most of her was just tired and confused, though, so she collected herself, and started off towards home.

This was wasn't going to be a night she could just forget—or understand any time soon, by the looks of it. If she was going to mull it over, she was definitely going to do it where she was safe and didn't have to deal with any more unprecedented arrivals.
