"It would be nothing of the sort," he replied, as though it were the simplest answer in the world. "This is a choice, free for you to make. I can't say that there isn't a clear cut right answer, but I would force nothing on you."
Well. To be fair, he would, if he thought that shoving her through that mirror would force her immediate loyalty to the Court, however he was hoping that human compassion would drive her towards accepting the offer before he had to do something drastic.
"All I know is that if you do not accept this offer now, one day you will be hunted. And you will be found. And the other side will make this choice for you—and you'll lose everything before you have the chance to say no."
He extended a hand to her, attempting a friendly gesture. "Come with me, Aubrey. Have I ever let you down before?"

Aubrey watched him warily, unsure of whether or not he was being sincere or not, it seemed like this was too important and too secretive to just let her leave. It made her believe that Remarque would be a formidable enemy, and far better to have him as a friend than foe. She wanted to trust him fully but she was wary of it, she doubted he would hesitate to lie if it was what was best for the cause. She also believed what he said about the other side, having heard all kinds of crazy reports on the news throughout her time living here, and at least Remarque was giving her the semblance of a choice, and this opportunity would probably not present itself again. Images of the youma attack flashed through her mind as she looked at Remarque's offered hand, to pass up this chance at power would be a stupid idea. "Okay Remarque." She said softly knowing that he had only protected her before so she hoped he wouldn't lie to her now. "What do I have to do?" She questioned softly, looking up into his eyes, hoping she wasn't making a huge mistake in trusting him now.

"You just have to come with me," he said, grin relaxing. He reached to take her hand, walking towards the nearest mirror. "Everything will make sense in Mirrorspace. It's absolutely painless, I promise. And I can explain everything there, where it's safe. I don't want anyone seeing us talking out here, though. It would be too dangerous for you—for anyone you knew."
There was a mirror nestled between two large trees, mostly hidden by overgrowth; Remarque had located it a while ago, though never used it prior. He figured it was as good as any, for now. He had only taken a few steps towards it when he turned to look at the cat. "Lyssa, I don't know if you've ever been to Mirrorspace. Would you like to come take a gander or do you have other business to attend to this evening?"

Lyssa had been watching the duo converse with a look of bemused constipation. Her tongue stuck out at an odd angle between her teeth and her eyes criss-crossed making the pair in to a funny quartet as they chatted and bargained for the life seed of this child. She had named each blurry vision with a name and extensive history in sedimentary rock formation and was beginning distrust Tarquin the taller of the 4 when Remarque broke into her trance like psyche with his question, her mind refocusing on the real two people before her, her voice yelling its frustration
“NO TARQUIN NOO! When will he learn it’s not all about the metamorphic rocks but the igneous as well!” She flopped down defeated and started to roll towards Remarque, her body squirming in the mud and grime until she landed beside his feet, her back legs attacking him. “I want a gander too, medium rare please!” She stuck out her paws and patted his boots gaining leverage on the heel as she started spinning around them, her claws tucking into the soft durable material of his fuku as she climbed her way up before finally flopping herself over his head, her back legs resting on his shoulder as her front paws reached out and over his skull, her body jiggling in excitement. “Gander, gander, gander, gander…”

Remarque stared at the ground long after Lyssa had claws her way up. He could see spatters of mud on his boots, could feel it clinging to his clothes in all the places she had rubbed off on him. It was hard to make a good first impression when you had streaks of mud all over your nice clothes and a filthy cat flopped atop your head.
In that instant, Remarque was glad that the Dark Mirror Court had no cats of their own to deal with; he wasn't sure if he could have survived if some thing like Lyssa was around more often.
His nostrils flared a bit as he attempted to quell the rage inside the pit of his stomach—tried to ignore that now he was filthy and there was some fleabag perched atop his skull.
But it was okay. Definitely okay—because there was Aubrey, and Lyssa said she was a senshi, and it was worth the mud and humiliation of wearing a cat if it meant he could save her.
"…Okay," he said, just sounding exasperated. There was no arguing with the cat, no chastising her—what would you say to her, anyway?
He walked, head high, and as prideful as ever—cat, mud and all—towards the mirror. Once there, he reached up a hand to secure Lyssa to his head (the only thing worse than a cat had was a falling cat clawing your back—or worse, your face) and gripped Aubrey's hand tightly—and then stepped through it.
While it was natural to him, it was arguably a strange situation for a first time passenger into the realm of the Dark Mirror Senshi; the glass of the mirror rippled and accepted him as easily as a pool of water would have. The sensation was absolutely akin to jumping into a pool of water—a splash of cool, not unpleasant, that enveloped and then stilled.
Where there was once darkness, now there was light. The first through steps through the mirror had been dizzying for Remarque, though now he barely paid it any mind. The walls of mirrorspace were white and had a smokey glaze about them; it gave the impression of constant movement despite everything seeming sturdy enough. He had walked right into Ares' throne room to save the time. Mirrors adorned all the walls, though one, directly across from them, glistened suspiciously.
The Black Mirror was beckoning, calling to Aubrey.
Remarque eyed it with a sort of morbid fascination; there was so much he didn't know about it. What he did know was that if Lyssa was right, the Black Mirror would save this girl.
He didn't speak; there was already enough to behold. Words would only ruin the moment.

Aubrey watched with wide eyes as the silly cat clambered all over a stoic Remarque. She had to cover her mouth with her free hand to keep the giggles from pouring out from the image of the mud soaked Remarque with the Cat Hat resigned to his fate with the wiggling excited cat exclaiming Gander over and over again. Perhaps it was a poor choice of a word for Remarque to use, or perhaps this cat would have done something similar for anything that was said. Aubrey pulled from a great pool of reserve not to comment on Remarque's new choice in attire, however she was unable to keep the huge grin from her face. She had a feeling that if she laughed at him now it might cause a strain in their future relationships, and he seemed to be someone of great importance in the Dark Mirror Court, someone you want to have as a friend. Once Remarque started to move, Aubrey followed him hesitantly, after all this moment would reshape her entire life, hopefully for the better but she could never be too sure. She also couldn't keep a small gasp from escaping her lips as she saw Remarque disappear into the mirror, and was almost tempted to let go of his hand and run like hell. Steeling herself, she tightened her grip on his hand until her knuckles went white and followed him through the mirror. The sensation was unlike anything she had experienced. From the first contact of her hand with the mirror she felt it give way and accept her into it's depths, slowly encasing her arm in a cold crawling sensation as she cautiously edged forward, hardly believing that she was walking in to a mirror. Once all of Aubrey was through the mirror she was overtaken by a sudden wave of dizziness that caused her to stumble and fall against Remarque with her eyes squeezed shut until it passed. Once it had she cautiously opened her eyes and stared about her, still clinging to Remarque's arm. The Black Mirror directly across from her soon dominated all of her attention, she wasn't aware of the cat or Remarque any longer, just the almost imperceptible siren's call of the mirror. Aubrey didn't know what to do, the pull of the mirror was getting stronger and she wanted to run over to it and let its darkness consume her, but she was afraid, she didn't know what would happen and if she would lose herself in becoming something else. Slowly, she began to cross the throne room, her eyes glued on the mirror across from her, with one hand outstretched towards the glistening, impossibly dark surface. Just before she touched it she looked back at Remarque and Lyssa as if asking what she should do.

It was indeed the first time Lyssa had entered mirror space not having access to it on any of the mental planes she existed upon (in her mind) She had had to cope with second hand stories from ants stuck up her nose of the wonder of this place and was most pleased to see it did not fail in her expectations. Still happily sat on the shoulders of Remarque as she watched the chaos tainted air swirl around them, dancing happily near the Eternal Senshi before placing themselves closer towards Aubrey, tentatively touching her as if scared. They were tasting her aura, pondering if she were friend or foe, food or ally? The result didn’t matter as she answered it for them springing forth towards the mirror that beckoned her. A deep purr resounded in Lyssa chest as she closed her eyes and began licking the top of Remarque head, her tongue covering his scalp with cat saliva as her abysmal drone echoed though the hall. She was so happy she could poop!
“*purr* YoU shoULd ComPlete *purr – lick – purr* your dEStiny *purr – lick* YoU TastE like CUstaRddd!!…..”

Ignoring Aubrey's giggling was easier than ignoring Lyssa.
He had been watching intently, eyes purposefully avoiding mirrors (a difficult task, all things considered) so that he didn't have to see what sort of sorry state he was in thanks to the cat on his head. Which could have been ignored so much easier if she wasn't currently trying to eat him.
But Aubrey was so close. For a moment, he'd even forgotten the cat was on his head; his eyes had been focused on the girl and his heart was pounding, stronger for each step she took towards the mirror. He didn't want Lyssa to be wrong—didn't want to be wrong, himself.
"Lyssa, if you give me a bald spot, I'll flay you right here," he replied absentmindedly, seeming in a fairly good mood despite the threat. He wasn't even going to ask how the cat got custard when he was pretty sure his head tasted like shampoo, but hell. Maybe cat's taste buds were different. Or maybe she was just batshit insane.
Probably just batshit insane.
His hands crossed over his chest as he nodded to Aubrey to go on; there was nothing more that he could do for her.
What happened now was between her and the Black Mirror.

Kyuseisha no Hikari Hope this is okay kinda guessed at what would happen inside the mirror.... sweatdrop Aubrey stood before the mirror, her heart pounding so loud she wouldn't be surprised if the others could hear it, and there was a darkness within the mirror that seemed to pulse right along with her heart. After a couple more deliberating seconds she turned her head back to the mirror and carefully placed her hand against its surface. For a moment nothing happened, and she thought that a mistake had been made, when all of a sudden the Black Mirror sucked her into its depths so fast she barely managed a squeak of surprise before she was gone. The first thing Aubrey noticed was that it was cold, colder than the trip through the first mirror had been, and she felt as if she was floating, floating within the deepest depths of the ocean, without the killing crushing weight. Wrapping her arms about herself, Aubrey moved forward, following the faintest of lights in front of her like prey was drawn to an angler fish. However seeing nowhere else to go, towards the light was as good as any direction.
Eventually the light formed into a glowing silver surface in front of her, that looked like the reverse of the Dark Mirror, and in it was a reflection. Aubrey couldn't say if it was her own, it was similar, but full of power and grace, garbed in a strange attire that Aubrey wouldn't normally where. The reflection beckoned to her, with a smile on its face wanting Aubrey to take these last few steps and together, they would become one.
Slowly, Aubrey stepped up to the mirror and looked at the image that was, and was not her own. Then, stealing herself she reached out and touched the surface. It was warm, and pulsed like a heartbeat and she felt fingers entwine around her own and a matching smile was drawn to her lips before the second mirror pulled her in and she was merged with the image, feeling exhilaration and strength fill her veins.A moment later, the Black mirror spit her back out and she landed gracefully on the polished floor, kneeling in front of what was once Ares throne. She was now dressed in how the reflection portrayed her with her Dark Mirror Fuku feeling like a second skin. To those in the throne room she had been gone mere moments, but it had felt longer to Aubrey, no... she was something else now, someone more powerful than Aubrey could have ever hoped to be. Slowly she stood and faced Remarque and Lyssa, awaiting further instruction with a tiny satisfied smile on her lips.

Lyssa witnessed the disappearance and reappearance of Aubery with silent awe. It was probably the first time the cat wasn’t humming, yelling or wiggling in her entire corrupted life and it was unsettling to say the least. Hair nicely plastered in a swirling typhoid of knots the red kitten nuzzled the top of Remarque’s head with her nose and jumped down. Her eyes studied the new aura that emanated from the girl before her, its realised a powerful streak of darkness, the clear marker of a Chaos ally.
“♫ SpAdes aRe sWOrds foR the soLdier, clubs arE weapONs Of war, diaMOnds mean Money for The chilDren but tHaT’s no the ShaPe of My MyocArdiUM ♪…. StiNG maDe a terRIble YouMa - I mean SingeR…”
She bounced towards the new formed Dark Mirror scout, sniffing her as she went until she nodded hurriedly, had a mini argument about pie holders, and returned to stare at the Senshi her eyes widening as she listened to the voices in her head.
“Ahhh, SailOr FortuNa….DarK MiRRor SensHi Of…GamBerLing? WelcomE To YouR new home ChilD, TherEs Coke In The Fridge…”

A bemused smile crossed her lips, "I Like that song...." Fortuna responded softly as she watched the small cat, after all that song was about a past time she very much enjoyed, and was good at. Fortuna stayed still as the cat sniffed and examined her, then smiled when her name was proclaimed. That was right, it was fitting in a way that one of her favorite past times would be the thing that gave her power. Fortuna looked up at Remarque with a tentative smile, she was unsure of how he felt about all this, was he happy to have someone new join his ranks? Or annoyed that he'd now have to show a newbie around. "Then where's the fridge?" She asked looking down at the cat again.

"In her head," Remarque replied, lips curled into a small smile. He seemed to walk a thin line between cocky and serious, but one of the more obvious instances that he was undergoing a different emotion entirely; tonight, he looked proud.
Also he looked like a man who needed a bath—which he was sure to get as soon as he cleared up what he could of this.
Out of the corner of his eye he caught his reflection in a mirror and moved to clean himself up as best he could; he reached a hand up in an effort to comb his fingers through his hair—an action he immediately regretted when his hand met what he could only assume to be a pool of cat saliva. His hand froze for only a moment before he brushed his fingers down and out of his hair. He wiped them clean on his pants and kept his eyes on the new senshi in front of him.
"You look good. Fortuna," he said, trying her name out. Gambling was an interesting sphere, and yet fitting. She had taken a gamble by coming with him, and now he couldn’t wait for her to see the payout.
"…Are you ready to see what the future holds for you, or do you want to go home, let this sink in, and meet me for lunch tomorrow to discuss all of this?"
If she wanted the lay down tonight, he'd give it to her. Mud, spit, slime and all.

Fortuna looked up at Remarque and smiled slightly, he looked like a drowned cat... or a drowned cats toy which was more accurate. However the look in his eyes caught her off guard... He was proud? Was he proud of her or just that he had found someone to bring to his side? She couldn't remember seeing that look in someones eyes, directed at her, for a long time, and it caused her chest to squeeze uncomfortable. "That's too bad I could really use a coke right now." Fortuna responded flippantly, trying to get over the strange swell of emotions going through her as she watched him briefly try and fix his appearance. Curious Fortuna moved in front of another mirror to look at her appearance, it was the same as what was reflected to her in the Dark Mirror, and she wondered if this change was for the better, but Fortuna assured her it was. Now she could accomplish any goal and gain power that would have been denied her mere human self... And she could protect the ones she loved. "I really want to learn as much as possible now.... but I can wait a bit if you want to get cleaned up first." She said quietly, trying to not be disrespectful to someone who was clearly above her on the food chain.... For now.

Remarque didn't blame the girl; after unlocking all this power, the last thing he would have wanted to do was not have any idea what to do with it. "…Cleaning up sounds like a good plan," he mused, giving Lyssa a look.
His eyes returned to Fortuna's face. "All right. Then let's plan to meet in a bit? …Give me until eleven, and then meet me at the fountain near the north east entrance to the park? Where you found Lyssa."
It was a fairly easy to find location—and certainly one that was hard to miss. It would give him ample time to get home, wash up, and acquire a few necessities for the senshi in front of him. "I'll drop you and Lyssa off outside of Mirrorspace. You should go home, get something to eat if you can. Keep your energy up. Though, I suppose I really can't let you walk around like that—you'll attract too much energy. When powered up, like this," he gestured to her and then himself, "You give off an energy signature. You can feel mine, I'm sure?"
It was a rhetorical question; as an eternal senshi, he knew it was hard to miss his. "That's friendly. If you meet anyone that feels like that, they are an ally of ours. There are other groups, with different energies. In due time, you will learn to recognize all of them. Learn how to decipher who is of equal power, who is stronger, weaker. But for now, I just want you to focus on learning to power up and down. Powering down is easy enough—just focus, relax. Dismiss your power. Think about who you are underneath that costume, and will yourself back to that."

Fortuna nodded, it seemed reasonable to her to do as he said, after all it had been a long knight and had been a while since she had anything to eat and her sisters would worry if she was much longer in getting home. Doing as he said, Fortuna focused on his energy as it pulsed towards her she felt it brush across her comfortingly, it was much more powerful than her own, but she could tell he was a friend and wouldn't harm her. She also noticed the feel of the cat's energy it felt similar to Remarque's but also very different, aligned with them but not the same. Then he told her to power down and she frowned in concentration, it felt right to be in this form, it was far more powerful and she felt in control. Fortuna had to struggle to remember who Aubrey was, what motivated her and what she stood for. Taking a few deep breaths she focused on her sisters, the only thing in this world she truly cared about and places above her own. Slowly her frilly clothes faded away leaving her mud, sap, and saliva covered work uniform. Aubrey sighed, she would have to clean it up before work the following morning.
