Walking along, Gamma would have to find something new to entertain him. This place was dotted with a pattern of barracks that were so square it could only been military placement. Just meandering through, Gamma stayed on the main road.

There was a pattering of feet on his chest. A small apendage slapping his face back and forth. A shuffling of gauze.

Marg's eyes opened, staring up at the cat idol, slapping him awake with her tail, standing on his chest.

"I'm up now," Marg muttered, but still felt another slap of the tail.

He blinked, his eyes opened again. The cat idol was gone. He jerked upright quicker than he thought possible as the fact hit him. She was gone, the goddess left him. A cold fist formed in his stomach, battering his guts and ledaving him feeling weak and broken.

His lungs were burning, and as he coughed he could feel something sliding up his throat. Threatening to choke him,he beck over, forcing himself to hack it up, feeling the acid in his stomach churning, and his lungs struggling to draw breath.

Almost there.

Almost.

The object cleared the uvula. His mouth opened wide, and with one of the worst tastes he had been punished with in a long time, an egg slid past his teeth, hitting the street between his legs, cracking, and a small, very small amount of strange, greenish liquid leaking out.

Marg reached over, absently grasping Marfa as he watched the egg. It was cracking slowly. Something inside was kicking it apart, there would be a quick flash of a shadow, a foot, a claw, as whatever was inside was tearing its way out.

Finally, the shell shattered with a fiery crack.

There stood a small, black humanoid creature, with thin spindly limbs, an oversized head, and horns.

Demon baby, he realized. A demon baby.

Marg's knife was ready, raised, watching the demon hatchling stretch its legs. Demon. It had to die. Die, yes, and feed the goddess. Kill. Die. Feed.

The knife came down, plunging towards the little demon's head. He closed his eyes, just before the knife fell...

With a slow, gradual realization Gamma contacted Gammu. Just a burst message of coordinates for Gammu to get over here.

This was some kind of military installation, right?

There wasn't the sound of knife squishing demonic hatchling, as the cultist expected. No. That wasn't it. It was more of a metalic scratching, like the sound of steel on stone.

Well that wasn't right.

Marg opened his eyes, looking down. There was his knife, point down on the street, just like it was supposed to be. But something was missing. Mostly, demonic blood and guts.

That's when he felt the shooting pain on his thigh. The damned thing dodged! Then had the gall to bite him!

Marg screamed, getting up onto hsi feet, and dancing around as he tried to dislodge the small creature. Whatever it may have been however, it had a good case of lockjaw going, refusing to be torn from his leg, no matter how Marg shook it.

There was only one thing left to do. He put his knife away, raising his fist to slam down upon the small thing. It paused at the apex, as he stopped dancing. And down it came, swinging hard for the demon.

His eyes closed again.

And he felt a shooting pain, as his fist hithome, on his leg. THere was no squish of demonic hatchling. No. Only pain. Lots, and lots of pain.

His eyes opened, loocking down at his fist crushing the small bite wound. His leg was hurting bad. And there was the demonic one on the street. Dancing, taunting him with those evil little eyes.

"I'm going to get you, you stupid, evil little... err..." Marg hobbled forward, nursing his injured leg. The demon hung aro und, til he was just about to be stomped, then running off another yard, taunting him again.

This cycle continued time and time again. Marg lost count of how many times he dodged, knowing only that the demon seemed to be leading him northwest.

Returning just a click over the comm unit Gammu eventually came into view. Landing a few meters away from his brother he brought up the orbital map his sensors had been able to organize as he travelled through the air. "Anything of interest, or is it just another third world s**t hole?"

"This way." Gamma said grinning under his helmet and pushing his way through another aluminum link fence, this one topped with barbed wire. Hopefully no one was paying attention considering that he just barged onto a military site. Just a simple jog between a couple rows of concrete barracks', and there was a large M939 5 tonner. An enormous truck with open back; typically had a dull olive canvas draped over it.

It was empty, no one was around. This was too easy.

Falling into step Gammu went after Gamma. Moving towards the transport he climbed into the open air back. "I'll provide our mobile fire base. You can do the driving." Sweeping the area with his sensors he looked at a map. There were small gaps in it. "There's an area we haven't covered yet, to the north of us. We should do a little recon so we can plan out our strategy."

"You can't be serious." Gamma said incredulously spotting the keys in the ignition. It was time to go, this Durem place was getting old. And charred.

He kicked it into gear and hit the gas, pluming thick black smoke. Plowing over another chainlink fence he hit the street eastbound.

What was that name of the old song? Convoy? With a line that went something like, "Rushing the Gate at 98." Either way the thought amused Gammu as they were leaving the area. Setting his sensors to continuely sweep the area he stood in the back of the truck, resting a hand on top of the cab.

He almost felt at home amidst the military housing section of Durem. He could at least relate to the cramped quarters that, at one point in time, the army's soldiers happened to live in.

The glory days of war and fighting had long since past, however, and the only things inside the building anymore were riot police. They weren't trained for war, just launching tear gas into crowds of angry students.

"Kinda depressing."

He didn't have to think too long about it. Before Athan knew it, he was just exiting the military housing district and headed west, towards the courthouse.

Hell, there had to be somebody around there, maybe getting their driver's license or something. So far all of Durem just appeared completely deserted.

Damnit! Why isn't anyone around here? The city's pretty boring for a city. You'd see something by now.

"Keep running Kit, you'll find it eventually..." He said to himself.

"Alright, I'll take a rest when I get to the courthouse..." Kit panted, running to the courthouse.

A few minutes after leaving the Guard tower, the familiar sound of a Yama engine would be heard in the distance as Ruuvan closed the gap between himself and the military housing. Repeating the same procedure he had done three times before, turning off the engine and putting the kickstand down, Ruu proceeded to check around the housing area with his new Petal Detector, aka his eyes.

"Been going too long... it's just not getting anywhere." Maybe some sleep would help clear his mind and prepare him for a day of searching, eh? There was an abundance of beds in the area, though they were locked behind apartment doors, so Ruu could do nothing but collect himself in the doorway of one such apartment and huddle up like a homeless person, closing his eyes and attempting to drift off to sleep for the night.
