Nearly-silent footsteps proceeded those of soft, but more noticeable hoof falls. It wasn't any effort on the part of the striped demon; only natural instinct, like the way his eyes constantly scanned the surroundings. He glanced back towards the Faun following in his wake, calling over his shoulder, "So, have you done any hunting at all for the kid then?"
User Image
"Err...well, I've tried some, but..." Faroth muttered, scratching his neck. To be honest, Raina had been handling most of the hunting for him. For Ranuin. Faroth hadn't turned out to be very good at this 'hunting' thing, never having had to do so before. He'd not had any training and once Raina had started helping, he hadn't had as much need to learn, so...maybe he'd just gotten lazy. "I'm not too good at it," he admitted, knowing Kane would likely use this as more material to tease him with. "Raina's done most of the hunting and Ranuin's getting old enough now, she's taking him out for lessons now. Guess I should be relieved, but...I dunno, it feels too late now. Maybe I should have asked for help."

Kane had started to grin, but the expression faltered and fell. Nah, too easy a target; no fun in that. Besides, he was more than familiar with the pain of finding oneself with the sudden, unexpected problem of an unplanned-for child and all the difficulties that came with it. Well, some of them, apparently. Learning to hunt certainly hadn't been an issue for him. But for the vegetarian Faun, suddenly saddled with a sharp-toothed pup for a kid? Yeah, okay, he could see a problem there.

"Well, yeah, a little late now," Kane commented, rolling his eyes, but not missing the dejected look from Faroth. Least the wolf of his had been around to help. The demon hadn't seen much of the creature before, but perhaps it was their predatory nature that had them keeping their distance from one another. Looking back at the sulking Faun, he shot back, "But, you're right. You should have just asked for help."

Faroth tried not to trip over his hooves and fall on his face in shock. Not only was Kane not mocking him, now...was that an indication that he would have helped the inept hunter if he'd only asked? Looking sheepish, he kicked at a pile of leaves as he passed. "Oh, um...yeah, I guess...it all happened so fast, I got caught up and busy and panicked, I..." He shook his head. "Sorry."

Now, the demon did smirk, shaking his head as well. Always fun to leave the Faun speechless or rambling like an idiot. "Heh," he chuckled to himself, then shot another look over his shoulder. "I hope you don't want a hug now or something, cause it ain't happening. Though, if you want hunting lessons, we are in the right place for it."

"Greetings, Harveer" Genesis responded politely to the blue angel. It hadn't been that long ago when she would have distanced herself from her peers for her more reclusive act of reading or some other independent activity. After training had begun, and after the events of the swamp especially, the importance of team work was beginning to dawn on Genesis.

The green angel looked around as more of her peers begin to show up, it seemed like almost everyone had chosen to wear lighter armor just as she had. Genesis knew that was the best idea, but it helped her to have it affirmed by everyone else. She just hoped there wouldn't be need for something more. The female paused to listen to the fighting instructor, she holstered her sword on a back-mount after he was done and then proceeded to follow him from the ground. If some of them were going to be walking, she wasn't going to get to their destination any faster if she flew. The important thing was to stay together if there were any hiccups along the way. Genesis remembered the tainted creature that had been lurking in the forest last time she had been out.

User Image Sunny was irritated with the voices of the dead they had been active all of a sudden telling her to go there with out a reason. "I have a bad feeling that my hat is starting to not work." she grumbled to her self as she took off her hat and looked it over. It was not that different than how it always looked a little dirty but that was not something new. It was hard to clean her hat with out having the voices of the dead take advantage of the opening like they were right now. *keep going forward* many of them were saying in one voice. she forced the hat back on her head muffling the sound. "I get it so calm down." she said as she broke though the foliage to see the ominous looking cave. "I am guessing this is the place." she said with a sigh Sunny did not need to take off her hat to know she was right.

She started to look over the site there were pae close by int he forest meaning she had some competition to deal with. She did not understand why the dead were telling here to come here since others were already near by. Doute was strongly in her heart. "Maybe I should go somewhere else like the old HQ or may be check on my daugher?" she said as she turned to go back when the voices screamed at her making her grab her head with her hands.

User Image A yellow fae apeared out no were fell out of the tree right near the gathered squires. She got up brushing her self off it took her a second of thinking before realizing something and smiling. "Right universe this time. YES," She said as she looked at her mellon who was rolling its eyes at her.
"You know if you paid more attention you would not have ended up falling out of the tree or in the tree in the first place. Not that you are going to do anything about it." the mellon shook its head.
"There is nothing to be done about it the two universe are at different heights. I can compinsate for higher universe easily but compensating for the lower universe is much more complicated off to much and you will end up in the ground or under water. better to end up falling than buried." she said with a shrug. the mellon looked at her with its mouth open. She had actually taken the time to figure out what was happening. "Close your mouth and lets go," She said walking calmly forward not paying attention to the Squires.

User Image"If my calculations are right, it should be right about ... here."

"Great. Now where's the so-called gold you promised?"

"... I don't know. According to the map, it should be right here..."

A pause.

"Wait, who made that map?"

A cough.

"I did."

Mikasi hissed openly, snapping his head towards shetani next to him as he gestured forward. "Really?! You dragged me all the way here for gold and there's nothing here but forest. Damned trees for miles. Who would come out here in the right mind, exactly? Is this your idea of a practical joke? Because I'm not--"

"Mikasi," started Ignatius, shaking his head, "calm your temper a bit, would you? Look, I heard Criofan talk about it. He was saying there was this cache he had and--"

"So you drew a bogus map?"

"Will you shut up for a second?" Where the hell did Mikasi get his damn temper, anyway? Ignatius sometimes wondered where his off-button was. "He said it was past the Fae Clearing, and near the Falls, so if you triangulate the position that he was talking about it has to be near here. And then we can find it and one-up him for once! Wouldn't that be funny? We'd have a whole bunch of things to trade too to get other things and maybe I can get you more of those fluffy blankets that make you keep your mouth shut..."

"I heard that."

"You were supposed to."

User ImageMikasi swatted at his psuedo-sibling, psuedo-cousin, moving ahead and deciding to actually check out the environment a bit. Well. If they were stuck here, he might-as-well figure out if there was anything of use in this area, right? Maybe there would be some place where he could stretch out for a nap around here. He doubted it; they were surrounded by trees and no doubt by other ... dangerous things, but the Fae Clearing was always fairly peaceful, and this was north of the Fae Clearing. Or whatever Ignatius had said. What way was North? He could go sleep there. It was still light enough outside that the avalons shouldn't start complaining at him-- what, who was that?

"Actually," Mikasi turned back to Ignatius, a wide, almost smarmy grin on his face. "We can stay here."

Why was Mikasi suddenly enthusiastic to keep doing this? Ignatius caught the look on his face and narrowed his eyes a bit, pushing past him to look through the bushes. What on Telrunya had he spotted?

... Really?

"Really?"

Mikasi grinned. "They're standing in front of a cave. Maybe that's where Criofan's hiding his mystical gold."

The shetani gave a rather derisive snort. "You're only interested in the faunness. She's probably out of your age range anyway. And I doubt Criofan hired an adolescent to guard his gold."

Too bad neither of them really had much of a clue what they were about to walk into.

Were Kane and Vika currently staying at Takeko's house?

... Interesting ...

Texas put that to the back of his mind, though, focusing instead on what Takeko was saying to him at current. Used to keep it nice and cool during the summer? He supposed that with their current environment, there was really no "cool" anymore, or at least, not during the summer. It still existed, but they were also in the middle of what seemed to be a rather tropical area. He missed the air, sometimes.

... Okay, he missed the air a lot of the time, but something was nice about not seeing sky for miles on the edge of the Isle, too. Seeing water for miles, too, let them know they were grounded, besides for that City that decided to camp out up above them.

"Hopefully the blackberries still grow here," remarked Texas, as he bent over, continuing to stretch himself out. He didn't fly as often as he should have, admittedly. Perhaps that was why his legs and wings hurt after managing such a long flight. Of course, it could have been worse. Living on the lake meant that, in perspective, the forest wasn't really the furthest thing from where he lived...

When Takeko got moving, though, Texas dropped his stretching and followed, keeping pace with her rather easily. "We fared pretty alright, actually. The house took some amount of damage, but nothing we couldn't repair. I think we were at an advantage due to owning a generator, so when power vanished, we were still up." Texas shrugged a bit, a small frown on his face. "So I suppose you could say we were lucky. I'm worried for those that were not so lucky, though I suppose those would be the people who would benefit most from the ruins of Headquarters."

The thought of the Ruins made him wince a bit. He sincerely hoped that no one was in the Headquarters at the time it came down.

"Did all your children come home during the storm, at least? I found that there was safety in numbers."

A field-trip to see the Mereth Falls had been how the day had started out, with both Ei-Kal and Kheliot having been awake since very early that morning. Kheliot's interest in exploring the large flowing body of water had caught Ei-Kal somewhat by surprise, but, having little else to occupy him that day, he'd decided they'd indulge the younger fae's curiosity. They even had a bag full of sandwiches for the excursion, an insistence from Kheliot that had amused Ei-Kal. But it had resulted in them being able to look up at the waterfall flowing down from Aura Nin mountain, and that was a view that Ei-Kal had to admit was well worth the effort and time involved.

He hoped that the others he'd brought with, Criofan and Zaria, were enjoying the view as much as he was. And, from what he could see as Kheliot craned his neck back as far as possible, as much as Kheliot was enjoying it. It was certainly cool this close to the falls, with the mist in the air making everything damp.

He supposed the only real downside was how loud it was, as he absently rubbed his ears against the thundering. The thundering also made it a bit difficult to be heard, as he was pretty sure that Kheliot had tried to say something to him earlier that he'd missed, but an attempt to get him to come closer and repeat it had only resulted in Kheliot shrugging and shaking his head.

As such, however, that meant that Ei-Kal had to get much closer to Criofan to ask, "what do you think of the view?" and perhaps even shout a little. He hoped that they wouldn't be needing to talk too much, as he very much did not want to be hoarse or lose his voice by the time they turned to make the trip back home.

Her wings spread outright as she moved through the clouds, the princess Celestia approached the beginning of a large expanse of forest, stretching far into the distance before great mountain cliffs shot up, ending their expanse. She still didn't understand why she was coming to this area, nor why she had traveled now a full day and night on this way, pausing only for rest and nourishment, but she continued.

The morning of her journey, she had awoken with an uneasy feeling, like there was something amiss, like something very bad was about to happen, and that she should seek it out. Her powers were still new, she was still learning to understand them fully, but the princess's uneasiness was just too strange and unfamiliar to let pass. She called out to the spirits, seeking their advice, their guidance, and they answered with a strong feeling that she should follow her instincts, leave at once and let her wings guide her to where she needed to be.

Or where they felt she needed to go. The princess had no way of knowing if this was a maddened search or if it would prove to be something substantial; all she followed were feelings, nothing more.

But even if this proved to be in vain, to be a waste of her time and her energy, at least she would have learned by seeing a new part of this island that was now her own. It would help her to know if it was really her 'powers' and the spirits that had spoken to her, or if her simple curiosity had disguised itself as such. Perhaps, even, she might meet another pae from this area and learn more about it from them.

What could, and would happen, however, was completely unknown to her as she flew.

Pelagious held the shovel slightly aloft and checked the recent trench he was digging. He was laying his pipework down so he wouldn't have to walk all over this confounded island all the time. He was working on the trail of pipework through Loki-Nai forest today. He wasn't sure if the hole was deep enough but it was definitely long enough. Checking his pack of pipes, he popped one into the hole to see. Perfect fit.

Laying the pipes down into the trench, he connected each one to the previous pipe. Then he covered up the pipes with dirt. Wiping sweat off his brow, he picked up his pack and gave a groan. He was out of pipes. He's have to go all the way back now. Setting his shovel in the pack, he slipped the pack on his back and began walking. Looking around as he made his way through the forest, He decided on going around the long way to investigate the best placement for pipes.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When he finally popped out of the forest, he cursed. He had gone the wrong way!!! Instead of popping out by the beach, he had managed to pop out somewhere on the other side of the forest. There was some kind of temple here. He'd never been here before. Looked nice enough though. Marking it down in his mental map, which was faulty as hell and tended to lead him places he hadn't meant to go, he stepped forward and sat down on a step.

"Time for a nap." he mumbled, pulling his pack up beside him and laying down on his side. So with the sun shining on him, and the shovel cuddled between his arms, he closed his eyes and slept.

Tamara was flying over the Loki-Nai forest. She was enjoying the late autumn sky. She hummed to herself as she flew in lazy circles around the forest. Every so often, she would dip down and skim the top of the trees with her hands.

Doomy wandered through the forest looking for nightshade. She knew it grew in the darker part of the forest since nightshade loved gloomy areas. So that was where she wandered. Through the trees, over rocks, into bushes. She was starting to looks like a forest gaurdian with all the leaves and twigs stuck in her hair and scrapes and scrathes all over her body. "Damn Nightshade. Why do you have to be so difficult to find? I just wanna make some lovely poison out of you. Is it so hard to sacrifice your life for the greater bad?" she grumbled to herself. She would have given up ages ago if she hadn't gotten lost a couple hours ago. She had no choice but to continue looking.

Harveer nodded, smiling politely. He knew she'd been changing. She'd spoken more now than before. He had no idea why, all the blue angel knew was that he liked it. She was a gorgeous angel, and she served the guardians admirably. He couldn't help but appreciate it.

He waited for their instructions, nodding along as he took in everything they had been told. "I"ll watch your back if you watch mine?" He suggested, hoping Genesis hadn't left him just yet. If nothing else, two angels strolling through the forest together didn't look too suspicious. One might however...

Leitha had been walking a while. She'd found a nice little river along the way to keep herself moist. Something she quite appreciated in the middle of the forests. Not nearly enough of them had water. The thought made her frown. Oh well, she was getting somewhere. Why had she bothered to come up this way in the first place? The naiad couldn't remember why she'd chosen to come up this way. No matter, she felt close to her destination.

Finally, she happened upon a sleeping figure. With wings in weird spots... And even stranger looking wings. Leitha frowned, something about this figure seemed familiar.. Oh dear, it couldn't be that Cadassi's spawn could it? Did he have a child? She couldn't remember. But he looked so familiar. Leitha walked up to him, debating on how best to wake someone up... Eh. She brought forth her sword, stabbing it into the ground near his face.

"Wake up."

Pelagious was dreaming a beautiful dream. With woman and men. All hanging on him. All reviewing his beautiful body with glee. He couldn't believe his luck. Then the closest male shined a small light in his eyes and told him to wake up. Pelagious mumbled a bit, rolling away from the male's shiney light.. He didn't want to wake up. He didn't want leave his dream harem. He liked it here. He could feel their hands on him. Hear their praises. Smell his hair burning. Wait a minute...

"MY HAIR!!!!!" he screamed, waking from his wonderful dream to feel the heat from the flame on top his mohawk, Pelagious bolted upright, slapping his head to put out the small fire at the tip of his magnificent hairdo. Looking around, he found a fin-y girl staring him down while holding a large, flaming sword close to where he had been laying. "ARE YOU INSANE?" he asked, scooting away from the dangerous woman with a frown.

His hair. His beautiful hair!!!!

"My beautiful hair!!!!" he moaned, feeling the damage of his now hair burnt hair.

Yukiko tried to keep telling herself she wanted nothing to do with the commotion by the dark cave. Nothing, absolutely nothing. She should keep her nose out of it, especially now that she was a mother. She smiled warmly at the child in her arms, her darling Adelphos. She wanted to keep him safe and she could not do that if she went looking for trouble. And yet....her curious nature had her wings carrying her closer before she really knew what she was doing.

Apple Bloom leaned against the tree she'd hidden behind and motioned for Sweetie Belle to hurry up. "C'mon! We're gonna miss all the fun!" she whispered loudly. "There's somethin' goin' on here, we should investigate!" she told her friend. She didn't know where Scootaloo or Babs were, but maybe they could catch up later. She and Sweetie Belle were gonna find out why everyone was gathering around this cave! "You wanna get a cutie mark, right? Maybe this will help!" she said and grinned at her friend.

User Image

Sweetie Belle was torn between following Apple Bloom and going back to find Rarity to help her instead. She'd been slow following her friend, but here she was with her in the forest by that cave Apple Bloom had been talking about all day. "Apple Bloom are you sure we should be here?" she asked. Sure, she was curious about it, but Apple Bloom had a tendency to get them in trouble. Not that she and the other Crusaders didn't help themselves into the trouble, but it was almost always Apple Bloom that started it. "Of course I want to get a cutie mark!" she said and pouted a little. Fine. She'd stay and help Apple Bloom. She wondered where their other friends were, though.

Tamara was diving for another skim when her ankle caught a branch and she ended up tumbling through the trees. With a very loud and very shrill scream, she tumbled through the branches of the upper forest. Barrelling through several branches, both big and small, she fell through the trees until she finally hit the forest floor with a loud thud. The sticks and leaves she had hit before were all falling down as well.

User Image"Rawrrrrrrrrrr!" Aquos threw down his makeshift bow as the arrow he launch managed to scare the group of deer away AGAIN! This was not what he wanted to be doing. He hated hunting. He didn't know the first thing about hinting anyways! This was stupid! Why oh why did she have to be..Be so FUSSY!

Aquos sighed as he thought about the little female chick he had named Skyla, screaming and throwing his hard caught fish across the room. When he returned from speaking to his wife he had found the colourful object wrapped up in a blue cloth at his door step. He hadn't thought much of it at the time, placing it on his table and forgetting about it. It wasn't until he was woken up in the middle of the night by two big black orbs starting back down at him which scared him back to death...Then she bit down on his nose.

That was the start of their relationship and that is how the male found himself out to the north, hunting. This was the only forest with a river leading back down to the lake after all.He was a fisher..Not a hunter...But Skyla had gotten bored of her fish diet so here he was. Picking up bow and arrows again and heading north, following the herd....There'd also be the making it up to the nephew Ahto for being tricked into looking after the little hellan...But he'd worry about that later.

User Image Fraise found herself in the northern forest for a...Different reason. She was hunting, but for fruit. She had been most of her time since the dance disaster out in different parts of the island, looking for fruit or nuts to add to her garden. Today she was in the northern forest, having skipped the marsh since it creeped her out...Plus there were some rumors of bad things and she was just gonna stay away from allllll that bad stuff. Nope. No bad stuff would happen to her again! It was just a good day to look for seeds.

As Genesis slowly walked along, her ears were attentively listening for any sound at all. Walking on the ground was putting her on edge, there was so much above her that she could not see. Even if the blood colored angel was looking out for them, Genesis trusted her own eyes and ears more. Genesis glanced over at Harveer when she heard him speak, her golden eyes focused on him for a second before returning to her complete scan of their surroundings.

"Undoubtedly that is an agreeable plan..." Genesis responded as she continued onward. "I will, of course, be watching everyone's backs, as you say. However, your company will be appreciated." Her eyes flicked around once more before returning to look at Harveer and giving him a reassuring smile. Genesis couldn't allow herself to look out for just one, but she didn't want to make Harveer feel bad either, it wasn't good for morale.

It was true that she wouldn't mind his company, it was certain to be a long and likely uneventful walk to where they were going. However, she couldn't know for certain what evils or heretics lurked around so she needed to keep her eyes out, if Harveer was too much company she would be distracted, and Genesis could not have that.
