She sighed as she heard him, glancing away, not wanting to be seen like this - not even by herself. She didn't remember the last time she cried, but she needed to get something across to Uumi. Make him understand that making himself miserable by staying here, just to prove her wrong, that it was a stupid idea. Stupid - and that was quite unlike him, as well. "I know," she breathed, taking a deep breath to steady herself, "but Taabu makes me realize a lot of things," she finished with a murmur - unable to look up at him again until.. she heard that.

A quirked brow restored her confidence as she glanced up, eyes narrowed on his for a second. Tamu was still around, and as far as she knew, he was slightly too psychotic to have a lover right now. That only left.. "Denahi? He.." She snorted, tilting her head at him, "poor cubs. Whose the mother?"

Ah good, see he knew the topic change would make things easier. He couldn't very well tell Sye he wanted to stay here. I mean it was annoying more than half of the time... but.. He blocked the thought of why away and just litened to her a moment, glancing her way he gave her a bitter smile. "My older sister. Rehani. I find it odd that he can call the pride scum and then go make it with one of the royalty. I'm not actually sure how many they have. More than one, I think. I actually met their daughtor.." He murmered, and then trailed of. This was a weird conversation, in his mind. They weren't supposed to be talking about cubs. Hell, he didn't even think he was supposed to be talking. He was supposed to be moodily stalking off.

She rolled her eyes at this, finding out, that not only was Denahi becoming soft and falling in love with some pridelander, but he was becoming the ultimate hypocrite. If Taabu was slime because of his father, then so were Denahi's kids because of their mom. She snorted, shaking her head, "he's so stupid. I swear, out of all the intelligence my mother has, he had to take both my parents' tempers and my dad's lack of thought - and then have both traits multiplied to the extreme." She hissed softly, flicking her tail, "at least Taabu is being raised by someone sane. Denahi's kids are going to be warped beyond recognition." She glanced sidewards at him, a meek grin on her lips, "no offense to your sister or anything."

He listened to her rant a little and shrugged softly. "I Don't care about her. Or Denahi, I just thought you wanted to know. So you could tell your mother and stuff. I think she'd been uneasy about your brother's wearabouts." He murmered, tail flicking as he continued to study the sky.

Yes, Taabu was being raised by someone sane. Well, as sane as this family could get. Sye certainly was intelligent, and not easy to anger.. but did that really qualify one as sane? None of these points would be brought up though. Not by Uumi, at least.

She sighed, flicking her tail slowly as she let her head gently rest on her forepaws, "yes, I'm sure she's worried, though I don't imagine anyone else is." Even if Taabu turned out to be as wrotten as his uncle - which she would prevent at all costs - she still knew she'd love him. That's why she understood how her mother felt. Then, of course, she realized that she had been out here all this time while Taabu was being babysat by his Gamma.

"I should probably be getting back to get him," she breathed out, picking her head up and slowly starting to rise, "four little ones and your grandchild all at once is probably a handfull." Of course it was - just watching Taabu alone was enough to make her go quite insane.

He listened to her still, and at her departing words he couldn't help but feel a little chill inside. He layed himself down, back still toward the female. "Well I think I should probably just rest." He muttered, making a show of not caring that she was going. I mean, she did have to go, take care of her son. "See you, then." He muttered, making his voice horribly bored with the whole affair.

It wasn't that she wanted to leave Uumi here - it wasn't like she was trying to get away from him or anything of that sort, but she really did need to go get Taabu. Her day of rest was over, even if she hadn't really rested much at all. With a gentle sigh, she pushed herself up onto her strong paws, flicking her tail and glancing sidewards to him, "he asks about you, you know," she whispered - not entirely sure why. Maybe she was trying to get him interested in being a father to their son, to little Taabu - who actually.. acted like he didn't care, but deep down, he wanted Uumi to be the dad he didn't have.

He shut his eyes once she was up, concentrating on breathing evenly so he'd fall asleep. Though when she said that he coughed a little, surprised mostly. "Well if I were him and found out my father was an obnoxious dickwad I'd ask about me too." He muttered, remaining still. "See you, Sye." He couldn't stand this, being around her.. wanting her around.. having her leave. Not wanting her to leave, for that matter. It mad him feel so... off. And scared.

Syeira had just sighed, turning her tail on the sickly brute and stalking off into the tall reeds around the watering hole - without so much as a goodbye.

It was a few weeks later that found her, curled up on top of a rock, looking like the princess she was - eyes lingering over her beautiful little cub as he stalked around, asking a million questions at a time, never giving her the chance to answer one before he began with another, but the smile on her lips was evident, the joy in his antics quite noticeable. Syeira loved her son, no matter all his flaws. That's the only reason she understood her mother's love for Denahi at all.

The little thing, currently, had fallen into silence, his little rear in the air as he crouched down low - then leapt into the air, trying as he might to land on the little preying mantace clinging to a blade. Though, it had moved long before he reached it, and he landed on his rump with a little huff, fur bristling in his irritation.

Uumi made his way through the lands with his odd grace, looking a lot better since his last run in with Sye. Actually it was probably thanks to her that he'd made another run in. He was just coming into view of the pair, their scent was easy to distinguish among the breeze and he'd followed it for a while. His crimson eyes flickered over Taabu, a pang of guilt racing through his viens. But as quickly as it had come it went.

He coughed a little, not from a fit but to make his pressance known. He stayed a little away, slowly sitting himself, his tail curling about his paws. He sat slightly hunched, as if defending himself. Though there was nothing to defend right now. "Syeira, I've been meaning to run into you." He murmered, his voice nonchalant. After his first glance to Taabu he hadn't looked over again, it made him to uncomfortable.

The pretty lioness had simply glanced to her son - who had immediately began to saunter off into the distance, where his mother could see him but from where he could not be spoken to or heard. He knew when his mother wanted a bit of privacy and she didn't have to tell himt hat this was one of those times. With a little glance, one he was gone a good distance, she let her eyes settle back on Uumi. The guilt was obvious, but she couldn't see why he should still feel that way. Though, it really wasn't her judgement. "Oh yeah? What for?" came the words, calm, not accusing, just normal Sye.

Both of his brows drew up a little, and he sighed. "To thank you." He murmered, very quietly. Thanking people certainly wasn't his style, and he was a little awkward about it. But he knew that he probably would have been dead if Sye hadn't found him, and helped him. So that did merit thanks, right? He glanced toward the sky a moment, before letting his crimson gaze wander back to Sye. "I Thank you for your help those couple of weeks back. It.. did me well." Well certainly these words coming from his mouth was just like pulling teeth, it sounded forced. But he did mean it, you could tell.

She shrugged slowly and glanced away, following her son's little form as he danced along on the horizon. "It was nothing, any person with a heart would have done it Uumi," she said quietly - though, admittedly, she thought she owed him. However, this situation was almost more uncomfortable than the one before had been. He wouldn't even.. look at Taabu.

He watched her a moment and sighed. "You don't know that, a lion's heart works in odd ways. Perhaps a lion with a heart might live someone who's about to die, but maybe they have a good reason behind it. Anyways.. that's all I wanted." More muttering as he rose, stretching and moving past, gaze flicking to the corner so he could watch Taabu as he past. But he felt no need to say hello, after all.. the cub had rejected him, wether he was asking for him now or not.

Syeira had began to just watch him leave, watch him walk off into the grass and the beyond again without saying a thing. But as his eyes moved to TAabu, she realized something - they were hurting their son because of their silly games. With a sigh she stood, waltzing after him with a little frown on her lips. Stopping, slowly, rounding in front of him to prevent his walking further - a whisper flew out of her maw, "he's your son, Uumi. I think.. you should go spend some time with him.
