“Right…very like me to beat the crap out of people.” He said with a wry grin that faltered a moment later, some thing that made it vanish like it got scared.
“Well, not often.” He admitted.
“mmm There are, places that Chaos people can…stay, say someone we just corrupted that lost their memories, some don’t need it…Lyra for example is staying at a school, its better for her really since she remembers –nothing-.” He waved a hand trying to explain.
“Rather than…work at a candy store, try and keep up with my classes…I don’t know why I took the scholarship, I really don’t… and keep up with my other duties… I could ‘manage’ one of those buildings. I’d have room and board where we didn’t have to worry about the neighbors shooting each other for drugs or what have you…or the time they had such noisy intercourse they knocked down some of the plaster… I’d make it a safer haven for people who…are alied with us and I’d get paid for it. Obviously it’s hugely tired to infiltration rather than information…but I’d likely be good to help keep track of who was there. We could make misbehaving officers fix things like the pluming.” He laughed…
“… so…yes, its been on my mind.”

It was a lot of rant -- probably more than Zac had intended -- and it drove Ever speechless for a long moment, fingernails tracing a light path up the middle of Zac's spine. Distracted and distracting both, though his expression was more thoughtful than anything else. One thing standing out in there more than anything else.
"...don't drop the classes..." This came out slow, serious, as his eyes came into focus, the hint of a smile slipping away from his mouth. "Adjust the rest to make time for that. I can help."

He gave a small nod, not really even begrudging just tired. “I know.” He said quietly, and even if he hadn’t really it was at least the kind of thing you ‘knew’ after it was confirmed.
“Not working at the candy store would help…” He admitted, eyes closing for a moment as fingers traced a line up the curve of his back, a soft hum, pleased and relaxed.
“So, we could move, I’d have more time, you could help… I’d appreciate that. You need a place since Drew took over… we… we’d have more room. I could get a bigger bed… no more worries that we’re going to wake up on the floor.”
Half of its convincing himself, about a quarter is testing the waters with Ever, and what’s left over is the fact that this shabby little set of rooms is still ‘his’, and it’s a sort of safe zone.

"I can help with the place." It wasn't admissions of love or promises of fidelity, it wasn't even a 'let's shack up' -- but for Ever, that was a lot. It was definitely as much az Zac was going to get, just now, and before he could nudge more for answers, Ever hummed, leaning in for another kiss. This one wasn't that brief pass, an affectionate hello. No. With his fingers still settled up between Zach's shoulder blades, tugging him in close, Ever didn't mean to stop with this one.
