Gregar828 Luo1304 Gregar828 Anyone else have any jutsu ideas? How about a Kemurigakure no jutsu? Hidden Smoke technique, similar to the Kirigakure no jutsu. The difference being this one is not only flammable, but could possibly have some latent sensing abilities within the cloud since it is chakra laced. Maybe even a genjutsu that centers around using the smoke pellet jutsu as a trigger or something. Just spit-balling. Feel free to quote other people by the way, I'm just too tired to do so. Smoke pellet genjutsu would be excellent as a trigger for nearly any genjutsu a smoke user could use. I dunno about sensing within the cloud. The smoke user will probably gain some kind of smoke vision anyway. Know what would be cool? Sensory distortion. Anything in the cloud becomes harder to track as long as it keeps its chakra signature low (not firing off high level jutsu). Ah, now that is a good spin on that idea. Perhaps keeping jutsu to C-rank and below would allow the person to avoid sensory jutsu or even chakra sensing doujutsu.

Expanding on that, I'd say it'd have to be restricted to jutsu of lower rank or cost than the smokescreen. Chakra density and all that. If the jutsu has more chakra in it than the screen, it's gonna show up more easily than one with much less. Considering this is linking to sensory, thus sensors, I'd link it to perception as well. Say the field is C rank, a jutsu with D rank power would be hidden, but a sensor with B rank perception could still spot it. Maybe have the strength of the screen scalable too so you can choose what level of jutsu it can hide.

Smoke Shifting Smoke, Stealthy, Untouchable

Description: The Kemuri clan hails from the Land of Iron, small yet prosperous as a clan. If you knew of them, you knew what they were renowned for, which was taking on high class missions for anyone willing to pay the right price. Usually, these missions were assassinations. Like smoke, after a small time they disperse to another area, living a nomadic life in order to avoid detection. After years however, the nomadic clan began to thin out; too many enemies had been made. In a last ditch effort to save themselves, the remaining Kemuri fled to different parts of the shinobi world. Most are still contracted, believing in the old ways of the Kemuri clan. Some however, have adapted to shinobi life under militaristic rule. Few are the shinobi that can claim they have ever seen a Kemuri before the first attack is made.
Rules for the clan :
• The smoke created is much harsher and more noxious than simple wood smoke.
• Members of the Kemuri clan are extremely deficient to katon as well as fire in general during smoke shifts. Apart from causing the Kemuri to ignite fully in quick succession, fire forces the Kemuri into shifting back into human form albeit with sustained injuries. (+1 to katon during smoke shifts)
• All shifted body parts are subject to fuuton, meaning while not physically damaging, being slave to the wind means fuuton techniques are thoroughly disorienting. It isn't uncommon for a Kemuri to shift back in order to vomit after winds upwards of 65 m.p.h are produced. (+1 to fuuton during smoke shifts.)
• Kemuri clan members are able to manipulate their chakra in order to create smoke, or smoke-like effects.
• Kemuri clan members are able to shift different limbs as well as other parts of the body into smoke for various amounts of time. The more parts simultaneously shifted, usually the less time the form is able to be retained.
• Kemuri clan members through smoke shifting are able to breach most defenses and barriers. Cracks, vents, doors and the sort are all easy options of entry for the clan member.
• The shifted parts of a Kemuri clan member are impervious to physical attack. This means taijutsu as well as kenjutsu techniques not chakra based are rendered useless. All chakra based attacks however, operate as normal.
• Solid objects not on your persons cannot be held during a smoke shift. (Ex. Smoke shifting with a sword in your hand would cause the sword to drop to the ground.)
Bloodline/Clan Jutsu:
Kemuri Perreto (Smoke Pellet) Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: 20ft. Prerequisites: N/A Description: Using one hand to form a seal in front of the sternum, the other quickly condenses chakra into a small pellet. When thrown, the pellet is capable of blanketing an area in smoke. The color of the smoke can be altered to the color of the user's chakra in order to distinguish it from any other sources as well. Because of its size, the smoke released is not dense, meaning quick dispersal. This technique is best used to alter your position for attack or hide a trap, and serves as the bases for all smoke genjutsu. (Six (6) foot visual range within smoke. Disperses after one (1) post.)
Kemuri no Hana (Smoke Blossom) Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: None. Prerequisites: N/A Description: The stepping stone to all offensive and defensive smoke shifting, this jutsu allows the Kemuri clan member to quickly shift one limb into smoke.
Youkai (Apparition) Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: 15ft. Prerequisites: N/A Description: The name of this jutsu stems from people seeing it and confusing what is before them as a ghost, or spirit from the past. Having learned to completely smoke shift the body from the hips down, a member of the Kamui clan can float across gaps albeit at a slow pace. The jutsu does not allow for upward or downward movement, simply forward and backward.
Hatsuen-dan no Jutsu (Smoke Bomb Technique) Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: 30ft. Prerequisites: Kemui Perretto (Smoke Pellet) Description: An improvement on the smoke pellet jutsu, this particular technique is more powerful at the cost of taking more time. The smoke emitted is more dense than before, causing soot to rest upon any and all exposed to it save for the person who created it. This jutsu serves a dual function as both a method of keeping distance or altering manner of attack, and a way to track those covered in the chakra-laced particles via sensory ability or simple footprints left behind. The downside to this technique however, is that it takes slightly more time to perform based on the amount of chakra needed to form a more dense gas. (Four (4) foot visual range within smoke. Two (2) post duration.)
Kemui Genzou (Smoke Vision) Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: 20ft. Prerequisites: N/A Description:The user is able to clearly see in smoky conditions including fires, smoke bombs, or otherwise adverse smoke conditions. This does not apply to the smoke of other Kemuri clan members.
Binshou Koutai (Quick Shift) Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu | Defensive/Supplementary Range: N/A Prerequisites: Youkai (Apparition) Description: The final stepping stone in the Kemuri clan member's learning, this jutsu allows a clan member to shift their entire body into smoke while retaining humanoid form, only to just as quickly shift back to normal. The maneuver is usually used as a bait and switch, forcing an opponent to attack thus leaving themselves open only to shift back and attack in quick succession. It is ill advised to attempt this maneuver against fuuton or katon attacks as they could yield adverse effects, however physical attacks are rendered harmless for a short time. (One (1) post cool-down.)
Kemuri Bunshin no Jutsu Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu | Offensive/Defensive Range: Within 50ft of creator. Prerequisites: N/A Description: Kemuri clones are an interesting development of bunshin. Each attack from one of these clones leaves behind a soot-like imprint, and as usual it takes one hit to destroy this clone. However, the Kemuri clone has the ability to use any form of smoke shifting that does not exceed its original cost. Meaning it could either use one of each of the first two smoke shifting abilities, or perform a full on quick shift.
Kemuri no Senka (Smoke Flash Blossom) Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: Base jump range x2 Prerequisites: Binshou Koutai (Quick Shift) Description: The first technique to begin to utilize the full extent of the Kemuri clan's smoke shifting ability, this jutsu allows one to double their movement distance. Using momentum and chakra built up before performing this technique, the Kemuri clan member can quick shift from gas to solid mid leap/movement while maintaining 1/2 of their original density (weight), however losing humanoid form. What this results in, is a generation of momentum from a larger object, used during the shift to propel a now lighter object further than originally possible. While physical attacks are warded off, physical obstacles such as doors or fences still serve as obstacles. (Temporary +1 to speed. One (1) post cool-down)
Kemuri no Hokousha (Smoke Walker) Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: N/A Prerequisites: Kemuri Genzou Description: Even in human form, a Kemuri clan member will not succumb to the adverse effects of natural or man-made smoke such as blindness, suffocation, insufflation (Forced Inhalation), etc. Poison smoke however, will carry it's intended effect.
Enmaku no Jutsu (Smokescreen Technique) Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: 80ft radius, 15ft. vertically. Prerequisites: N/A Description:Used to compensate for comrades on the field, the user exhales upwards into the air, creating a low-hanging haze. This haze is capable of blocking the sun's rays from penetrating the ground below, causing the area to resemble twilight. The technique is mainly an ambush tactic, as well as a flammable pocket, capable of exploding with the force of one tag if ignited.(Three (3) post duration.)
Sumoguu (Smog) Rank: C Type: Genjutsu | Offensive Range: 20ft Prerequisites: Kerumi Perretto (Smoke Pellet) Description: The first of a few genjutsu in the Kemuri clan's arsenal, it begins with the use of the smoke pellet technique as an activation cue. As the smoke is emitted, it grows thicker and darker quickly. It doesn't take but a few seconds for the area to be covered in this dark cloud, and to then be subjected to its effects. The urge to cough becomes immediately unavoidable as well as uncontrollable, often forcing people to heave over. The coughing becomes deep fast, forcing an individual to vomit. As coughing forces more air into the lungs, the effects are cyclical until the genjutsu is either stopped, or runs its course. Being a genjutsu, the technique lasts longer than the smoke from the actual smoke pellet does, meaning of course that fuuton is rendered useless as a means of dissipating it.(Three (3) post duration. Fuuton techniques rendered useless.)
Yoinokuchi (Nightfall) Rank: B Type: Genjutsu | Offensive Range: 30ft Prerequisites: Hatsuen-dan no jutsu (Smoke Bomb Technique), Kemui Genzou (Smoke Vision). Description:After throwing a smoke bomb, the effects are immediately recognized as odd. The smoke after three seconds of seeping out turns pitch black, causing the scene to look as if it was sucking in all the light. After ten seconds, the entire area becomes pitch black for the enemy rendering them for all intents and purposes, blind. This genjutsu lingers indefinitely until one of two things occurs. The first, is that the Kemuri clan member is attacked. The second, is of course to attempt to kai out of the technique. (-1 Rank to enemy reaction speed. The user must stand still for the duration of the genjutsu.)
Kemurigakure no Jutsu (Hidden Smoke Technique) Rank: B Type: Ninjutsu | Offensive Range: 40ft. Prerequisites: Hatsuen-dan no Jutsu (Smoke Bomb Technique) Description:Blowing billowing stacks of smoke from their mouths, the Kemuri clansman is able to quickly fill an area with what could only be described as smog at this point. The density of the gas is almost tangible, and just as well the amount is large. Anything within the cloud becomes much more difficult to track as long as chakra output does not meet or exceed that of the cloud itself. As such, the strength of this jutsu can be scaled up, meaning the more chakra put forth to perform it, the more powerful jutsu it is able to mask. Physical discomforts from this jutsu include coughing as well as stinging eyes. The last caveat of this jutsu is how flammable it is. Producing even a match within its confines could cause instant inflammation, causing the whole area to be engulfed in a near instant explosion with the force of two (2) exploding tags.(After initial cost, pay a ranked cost to allow jutsu of any rank below that to be performed without being perceived by normal means. Sensor types with adequate ability are still able to sense jutsu. Two (2) foot visual range, -1 to enemy reflex, 3 post duration.)
Mokousatsu (Smother) Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu | Offensive Range: Arm's reach Prerequisites: Kemuri no Senka (Smoke Flash Blossom) Description: By quickly shifting one of their arms from the forearm up, the user is able to insufflate (forced inhalation) an individual, causing near instant suffocation, and the effect of knocking someone unconscious. The technique is usually used as a quick rear or frontal assault, usually an attempt to cover the enemy's airways with the shifting limb. Otherwise, the jutsu leaves the attacker without a means to perform ninjutsu or properly defend themselves. The range of this jutsu is only as far as the hand can reach, so it is also a risky maneuver. Still, even if unaccomplished the technique is quite disorienting, causing painful stinging in the eyes along with wheezing. (One post enemy contact required, if contact is broken yet the enemy receives contact with the jutsu, they receive a -1 to reaction speed for two (2) posts. If successful, enemy is incapacitated for the duration of your next two (2) posts. The jutsu requires no hand seals, however your arm will not reform until the next post.)
Jisou Koutai (Phase Shift) Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu | Supplementary Range: Base jump height x2. Prerequisites: Kemuri no Senka (Smoke Flash Blossom) Description: This is the pinnacle of the quick shift, not many Kemuri clansmen can claim this technique. The user is able to control their density level during a shift, meaning after performing Kemuri no Senka instead of only being able to reduce their density to 1/2 mass, they are able to scale it willingly from their original weight to quite literally nothing. What this allows for, is an individual to flash blossom through the cracks of a door at full speed, or through a fenced off area area with ease. The technique is usually used to surprise someone and strike during that moment. The Kemuri who knew this technique was watched carefully, and paid highly.(Can shift through most obstacles as long as there's a way in. In other words, this is not phasing. Three (3) post cooldown.)

-My first thught: If the smoke user can retain smoke form for very long, it is OP against tai/ken users. -You should make it a rule that bloodline members cannot use Katon. I just cant see a combustable ninja being able to properly train in using fire jutsu. This is more a suggestion than anything though at this point.
-If they cannot be holding a sword... how do they keep their weapons with them? do they have to go completely unarmed (not even kunai in pockets) if they shift? what about clothes? what about house keys?
-With the smoke shifting you keep implying a speed increase. You should give an actual stat increase.
-Im sure you realize already, but you need some duration for the shifting jutsu. Or at least some way to determine duration by rank.
-Does smoke vision apply to mist? dust? etc. Is it passive?
-It would be good if the jutsu were sorted a bit better.
Genjutsu: Sorry but I gotta be all pan in the butt, since the genjutsu format is sort of important. Genjutsu Types dont vary as much as Ninjutsu. There are only two subtypes Mind or Mirage. The difference between mind and Mirage isimple. Mirage is almost purely visual, and is usually an area effect. Mind is everything else and usually only affects one person. You also need to list effected senses. As a rule, genjutsu can effect as many senses as its rank. E=1 D=2 etc. You sort of need to define the catalysts a bit better. What actually starts the genjutsu. Smog: Do you have to see the smoke bomb thrown? It would be classed as a Mind jutsu but effects multiple people from the sound, so you need a very defined catalyst. The smoke itself cannot be the catalyst, as it can last for an indefinite amount of time (casting genjutsu on anyone so long as it lasts) and has a pretty debilitating effect.
Nightfall: Again, is "throwing the smoke bomb" the catalyst? See above. I really like the rest of it. The user having to stand still negates the need for a definite duration, very clever.
Smother: Minor note- reaction speed shouldnt be reduced or mere contact, but in the event some of the smoke gets inhaled. If you miss and hit their elbow I dont think they should suffer from it. I also think it might be okay to reduce the rank of the jutsu merely because it has to be really accurate (even more than other punch attacks since you have to get near the face).
Phase Shift: The name and description are contradictory. Reducing mass to zero is impossible so "literally" nothing is silly. Also I dont think there would be any coming back from that since it is literally erasing your own existance.

Danke. I'll take what's been said and perform some edits tomorrow morning after I post my profile.
I knew the shifting jutsu would require duration, I just decided to skip it for now to get everything looked at faster.
As a side note, I doubt any tai/ken users are without ninjutsu. Seeing as how I don't plan to allow them to retain smoke form for any ridiculous amount of time, it's safe to say it won't be as OP as assumed.
Fair point about the katon though.
As far as weapons go, basically I want to avoid the person being able to shift and immediately attack for an auto-hit. That's why I mentioned the bit about things not being on "your persons" as in in a pocket somewhere, are incapable of shifting with you.
