I think the invisibilty cloak will be in the 7th book, it will just happen to appear in one chapters in the book.

KTweirdchick So; Harry was wearing the cloak so no one would see him leave with Dumbledore, right? And he was under it when the death eaters stormed the tower and Snape killed Dumbldore, right? But he threw the cloak off and chased after Snape and Malfoy after that. He never went back up to get his invisibility cloak back. So what's going to happen to it? Harry forgot the cloak at the top of the very same tower (the astronomy tower) during his very first year, but Dumbledore put it back in his dormitory on his bed with a note that said "Just in case" But if Dumbledore is dead, then that means that Harry's got to go and get it. That'll be an emotional chapter in book 7...don't you think? Or do you think that J.K. will just ignore the fact that it was left at the top of the tower and just magically produce it back into his trunk? She'll probably like state that, "After the war, blah blah blah, Harry went and retrieved his cloak from the bloody mass" or something like that. rofl

hmm...new thought again..
The cloak was originally Jame's, right... well, James was Harry's first defender, so that plays into my theory that it's a methaphor...

Comment My Profile Like a lot of people said the metaphor does sound good, but the cloak is most likely to be returned to him by some means. Come and Visit my thread Click here <3

It's a good point but I think J.K. will possibly ignore it. Who knows, before term ended maybe Harry went back to get it?

I think that when something happens like that in a book (any book), that it is usually up to the reader to assume what happens and in this case I think that it is no difference. I think that (maybe not exactly intentionally) she is leaving it open to interpretation. As for the cloak, I think that he just goes and gets it when he packs his stuff, or he gets one of his close friends to do it.

sweatdrop Yes, that's what I'd do... "Hey Ron, can you co up to the tower where Dumbledore was viciously murdered to get my invisability cloak for me?" confused Am I the only one that finds it odd that she felt the need to mention it was still up there, but didn't explain how or if he got it back. not even a "Harry packed his recovered invisability cloak into his trunk last before breakfast the morning of Dumbledore's funeral"?

Does she ever specifically state things like that??
I think it's trivial

She does state things like that all the time... she sorta has to, to keep nutters like me from freaking out... sweatdrop (Example: at the beginning-ish of the book, harry drops the HBP book and J.K. feels the need to say that no one else saw him drop it, to keep those mad fanfic kids from barking up the wrong tree) 3nodding
but she does specifically say when he leaves the head's office that the invisibility cloak was still up on the tower... however, she makes it sound more like a "his invisibility cloak was still up on the tower but it didn't matter, he met no one on his was back to Gryffindor tower." or something like that... It bothers me, that's all... J.K. has a habit of making Harry forget the cloak and it, therefore, put him into danger because he doesn't have it:
First book: the astronomy tower-he gets detention and meets Voldemort for the first time, as a result Second book: Hagrid's hut (when they go into the forest to meet Arogog, an abstract note, but she does state it)-obviously, they're almost eaten by Arogog's children, becoming invisible would have been very handy at that moment. Third book: at the base of the whomping willow- Snape was able to sneak into the shack, Harry does, in fact, wish he had taken it with him when he has to re-watch it all Forth book: he doesn't leave it, but the fake Moody's ability to see through it makes it less handy in many ways- it enabled Moody to help Harry through the tri-wizard tournament, which is good because it keep Harry alive, but bad because it brings Voldemort closer to his new body Fifth Book: ok, so there aren't really any problems with Harry's cloak besides it being of little use when he tries to sneak into Umbridge's office to see if Sirius went to the Department of mysteries. But cloaks are used throughout the book, including a need to have Shacklebolt come to the Headquarters to tell Sirius that Hestia's shift to guard the Department of mysteries door was over and that she had Moody's invisibility cloak. And they lost Moody's spare invisibility cloak when Stirgus was arrested for trying to get into the department (under the imperious curse, of course)- all of these uses of cloaks were to keep the "weapon" (the knowledge of how to kill Harry) safe Sixth Book: Harry takes the cloak everywhere with him, and I've already stated my views on this...

Well, maybe McGonagall will return it to him, she is headmistress after all, she'll probably be the one to find it, her or filch, and if filch finds it she'll make him return it, i bet...

I think that metaphor theory is really good, although the cloak is handy...
