Well, that was at least a better explanation than just blurting out the rest of their afternoon together. Still, Maple had no idea how she had gotten into this so suddenly and by what she thought was a simple monster. (She was the reaper, she made the contracts! Weep).
Still flustered and flushed, Maple said not a word as she made her way towards he sandwich makers while Andrew commandeered a table for them. She ordered her food without much difficulty or blunders, thankfully, and returned to where he was waiting some few minutes after. And awkwardly sat down. And awkwardly started to eat, nice small polite little bites thank you very much.
"Y-you w-were in M-miss S-selene's c-class, y-yes?" She found herself asking, realizing he also looked familiar there. And then realized she still couldn't remember his name!
"I-I'm s-sorry, I-I've f-forgotten y-you .. n-name," she added in extra quietly, reaching out quickly for her drink to sip on and distract (surprising herself by not just spilling it everywhere).

Andrew waited, and had already finished his burger by the time she had gotten back. He picked at his fries and nibbled at them slowing down a bit by now. "Yeah.... Selene's class....." he scowled and stuffed a french fry in his mouth chewing it viciously. Being almost killed by a giant plant monster wasn't his idea of a class. "My name? It's Andrew, you are Maple, correct? We meet at the booths, went on the Beebs races. You were a bit hyper off that candy though..." he trailed off and watched a large group pass them by.

Obviously from his reaction, he had just as much a wonderful time at the end of it as she had. Maple had to wonder what had come out their book, but if it was anything as humiliating as theirs ... well, maybe she didn't. She nodded and daintily finished one half of her sandwich.
"Y-yes," she replied. How demeaning, he remembered her's but she couldn't have the decency to remember his. The ghoul frowned at the thought, "th-the c-candy w-was .. awful," she replied as she began tearing off bits of sandwich to chew on. "I-I m-missed m-most of th-the e-event b-because of ... it." There had been such lovely creeple she had met and yet she was not able to spend anymore time with them; and Uru didn't even do to their school. More frowning and more picking commenced and it took her a little slower to finish off the second half of her small sandwich.
But it was still managed, probably not in record speeds that Andrew would have liked so they could go forth into the rest of the maul.

He watched and finished off his fries and then down right stared as she finish off her's. He was still hungry, but he was always hungry. It was always a pull between keeping his money and buying everything he could eat. He glanced at the sandwich shop and then at her food and just tried to wait it out. "Ahh, that sucks." maybe the candy had effected her worst than it had him, but he had wound up kissing a girl he didn't even know... for cake. The cake was delicious and he got a phone number out of it..... or had one. He really needed his phone, or a new one. Badly. And the ghoul was so slooooooow. He sank lower, watching her pick at that sandwich like he had seen clients eat at meals, and the pace he himself was brought down to when they were present. It made him uncomfortable just thinking about the stuffy clothing and good manners that were required. "Hurry up." he moaned as she was finishing. "I need a phone like the stars need the sky ok. That and I want to check out the rest of this place. Just in case I need something in the future." always know your resources. Always.

Maple noticed he was sinking in his seat, occasionally catching the glances to the other food stores. The ghoul herself sank a little more into herself as she kept realizing how long she had been taking. She was making him so bored and she felt awful, why was she such a terrible little reaper for making someone that had tried to be nice to her wait so long?
"I-I'm d-done," she replied with a pout, "I-I'm s-sorry f-for t-taking s-so l-long." Why had he not just gone off without her? It might have been better for the both of them, then he wouldn't have to be bored and waiting and making her feel even more awful for taking so long and then she could just scurry back to school.
Maple's hands went to work with cleaning up her spot at the table, putting the few napkins she had used back on the tray to throw them away and even grabbing what seemed empty of Andrew's containers to throw away along with her own. The ghoul was rushing, not wanting to keep Andrew any firther but not wanting to have their table be so much of a mess. She reached for the cup in such a hurry this time that her fingers flicked against it instead, sending it teetering on edge until it just fell over upon the table, spilling the remaining contents. Thankfully it wasn't a lot, she was nearly finished with it anyway but it was enough to send some liquid out and a few ice cubes. "Aa!" she cried out, "I-I'm S-s-s-sorry!" Oh, how many napkins did she have left?!

Head in a hand, he watched as she cleaned up and didn't say anything when she took his trash. She didn't need to take it, he would have cleaned up after himself, maybe. If he felt like it. "About..." 'time'. he never finished his sentence instead, liquid came racing across the table in his direction. His wings snapped open and he tried to fling himself back, toppling his chair backwards. It was too late, some of it had dribbled onto his pants. "Ewe ewe ewe! Gross!" He tried to scoot away from the table and the steady drip, that, instead of his shorts, was now attacking his defenseless leg. Unforchantly he had tangled himself up in the chair, and couldn't get away quickly enough. The chair scrapped across the ground as he attempted to turn, but his tail was pinned under the chair by his own weight making it twice as difficult to maneuver from his already tangled position. "Make it stop." he whined, and managed to at least get his legs out of the way. Steam rose from his pants and leg, already removing the offending substance, but then a mostly melted icecube fell on him and he started flailing again. "Ahh! It's cold!"

Of course things had to go from bad to worse, how couldn't they in the awesome life of Maple? The ghoul watched in horror as Andrew flailed about, falling to the ground in a tangled heap with his chair because of what she had done (even if it was an accident). The ghoul could feel her ears turning red as she scrambled for the remaining clean napkins.
"I-I'mSoSSorry!" She cried out to him in a rush, scrambling down to his side to help him. Great Hecate, she was such a horrible little witch even if this boil had been so pushy and rude! Her hands shot out, trying to dab at the liquid and ice cubes that had managed to get on him.

"No! Don't touch me!" he let out a demonic hiss and glared at the ghoul. "Just stop the water!" He managed to remove himself from the chair, and scrambled to his feet, using his fire to steam off the offending substance. "Ewe... it's so nasty." he started at the ghoul. "What's wrong with you?" he turned on the girl. "You are a total klutz. Keep your fluid stuff to yourself. And your slimy hands! " his tail flame burned in agitation as he glared at the girl, standing up to his full, 5'1" height. though the heat in his flame and face might not just have been from anger, being on the floor like that over a couple of drops might have induced embarrassment.

Maple recoiled as he hissed at her, her frantic levels rising with each passing second. She looked between the table and him, unsure of what to do. All the liquid that he demanded she stop had already, given how little there was and really it just all got on him apparently.
And when she looked back, he was on his feet and actually towering over her for once. And insulting her. Maple squeezed her eyes shut, trying to fight back the tears that she could tell were coming. This was so terrible, this had gone so badly and it was all her fault. "S-stop y-yelling a-at m-me!" She cried out in a weak little voice and buried her face in her hands. The ghoul wanted to sink into the floor so badly and just let it swallow her up. All she wanted to do was get some books, then help this boil from her mistake. Why couldn't she do anything right?

He frowned. "It was your fault." his tail swished. "Come on it can't be that hard to keep a cup upright..... what are you doing? Why are you making water come from your face?" it made him nervous. Was she gearing up for a water attack? or was she just crying? He took a step back. "Stop it..." he whined again. "Ugh I give up. I'll just go alone." he didn't want to go alone but... the crying.

Well, to her own defense she wasn't actually crying. She was just very much on the verge of it. No, wait, yes there were a few tears that were managing their way out. "I-I c-can't d-do a-anyth-thing r-right," and if the stuttering was bad enough, well it probably didn't make anything easier now.
Even her flustering little date with AJ had gone better than this, why did everything had to go so wrong so quickly? And why was this boil being so mean about it, usually at least someone would show a little sympathy to her pathetic-ness.
Maple could at least agree though, he was much better off on his own without her bad luck following him around. Of course all those not-so bad days would collect together and dump bad karma on her in one go and with company along with it.

"Yes you can. Don't be stupid!" ugh he waned to just shake sense into the ghoul. that would require touching her though. "Knock it off! If you think you can't of course you'll screw up because you are making yourself screw up. Just own your mistakes, and make yourself do better ok." "I mean... I'll forgive you, you just need to knock off this whole, all of this right now." he waved his hands at her.

Maple wasn't sure if it was pitiful of her to welcome his odd choice of comfort words (really, it wasn't the usual arrangement), that she could come to expect them whenever she felt like this. It wasn't like she was toying with him or anything, but she liked it a lot better than him continuing to chide her.
And for something she already knew what her fault anyways. She had tried to help and he just yelled some more, making the situation so much worse! But, she refrained from saying any of that, because she just felt it would be pointless to try. Instead she wiped the few straggling tears with the balls of her hands as she pulled herself up from the ground, sniffling along the way. "F-fine..." she said, picking up the now empty cup and placed it on the tray along with the napkins.

Crises averted. This was much better. This one was sensitive. He's have to try to remember that. He steamed off the last of the ick and then followed her to the trash can. "Well come on, I'm bored already. And I need a phone." He had promised to forgive her, here it was.

Better, yes. Even Maple could appreciate how things were beginning to cool down after all that had happened in such a short time. Her eyes were still a little red and puffy, and there were still a few sniffles but the witchling could feel a little more at ease than before. Kind of. Her shoulders were still tense as she finished with the trash and picked up her bag to follow along with the boil to where ever he needed to go.
"W-what .. happened w-with y-you o-old ph-phone?" She asked in a quiet voice, her eyes were downcast still.
