Otto got a smile for his trust, and a small thank you. Trust was hard to come by in his old career; not to mention how reserved and untrusting Otto seemed to be. Another turtle coming out of his shell.
"Seems that way; though would you have it the other way around? It's nice knowing you can depend on the people you know - it wasn't that way in Vegas. One wrong step and you were in deep trouble." Luckily, the Jamils had never touched or even encountered the mob. They knew of people who did, though...

"Don't sound like a relaxin' sort of place to live." Otto commented, "I mean, it was boring as Hell in the country, but at least I didn't gotta worry about whatever the sleazy city life had out for ya."
"I kinda like trustin' people. Doesn't come easy, but it feels a lot better."

Lex's grin became more of a grimace. No, it really wasn't too relaxing - not in the conventional sense, anyway. The city was alive at night, and the day was filled with light slumber and obscene heat. You had to find way to relax, which usually meant a trip to Tahoe or even just Reno for Lex. Reno was at least a little quieter.
A lighter smile spread across his face though, hands going at his sides. "Yeah, trusting is good. It leaves you vulnerable, but it also leaves your back open for others to protect - while you do likewise for them."
A moment of silence as Lex pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Sorry, I do this thing where I come up with the cheesiest things to say..."

"S'alright. Cheesy is fine once n' a while. I mean.. ya mean it and all. S'long as it ain't Disney level cheese. That s**t is putrid." His terrible encounter with Ami that time they were both high on those strange flowers made him cringe at the memory.
"Just don't make it a habit, and I promise I won't kick ya in the shins for it later."

Lex gave Otto a piqued brow and a quirky grin, and actually ruffled his hair this time. "Kick me in the shins? Sorry Otto, but I don't think you've got enough reach for that."
Not to mention Lex would probably outrun the teen. Running was part of his fighting style. Run, shoot, run some more, shoot some more. Thanks to Regal, reloading was unnecessary - that would have made fighting absolutely hellish."I think I'd put a bullet in your chest before you could even try."

Just to spite him, Otto hooked a foot around Lex's ankle as he walked.
Trip you up, Lex.
Trip you the ******** up.

No time to react, Lex hit the ground face first.
Regal cackled in his head for a solid five minutes.

"How's that for reach?" Otto sassed as he stopped and leaned over the fallen body, hands on his knees.
"Still waintn' on that bullet, by the by, Senor Fancypants."

Now, Otto had made a bold (and pretty stupid) move. Getting down to Lex's reach was certainly brave of the teen, but gave Lex a plethora of options.
So, like any wounded man, Lex took the most immature route and put Otto in a headlock, securing the perfect noogie position. "Y'know, I never had a younger cousin or brother to do this to." He smirked, balling his hand into a loose fist. "Twenty-four years without dealing a noogie...I wonder what that'll feel like."
And so he began. No beanie to protect you now, son.

Aw ********. He really ought to have known better, being an expert at escaping conflict.
"s**t! Lemme go!" Otto complained, struggling and gripping onto Lex's arm around his neck. Lex's musings put a scare in the teen, widening his eyes before gritting his teeth. "....What!? No! No no NO DON'T---" And then the noogie began, making Otto wince and struggle even more.
"Ow! That ******** HURTS! Gawdammit--" Otto resorted to using his free leg to kick at Lex's side for a chance at freedom.
NOT NOOGIES! NOOOOO!

The noogies ended at Otto's first kick, but Lex tried to keep the headlock going for a little longer. The second kick connected, and Lex let go of the teen, smiling and letting go, backing off. He could have taken more punishment, but this wasn't an actual fight. Not like the match he and Dakota had been in.
"Fine, fine. Have it your way - just don't trip me again." He was smiling still, voice lighthearted. He needed little moments of fun like this."I'm sure Eva wouldn't want me bringing you back in pieces, anyway."

A cocky smirk lit Otto's face after being released, reacting to Lex's claim with a snort. "Yeah, sure whatever. I ain't made of glass, dude." He insisted, his hands finding his pockets once more. He was made of tougher stuff than to be laid to pieces by Lex.

Lex grinned back, sorely tempted to throw his arm around Otto. No, he was too suave for that - he didn't even hug Ami that much. A shoulder clap was given to the teen instead, followed up by "Good. I'd rather have you smiling and sassy than grumpy and lumpy."
He did the thing again. Why did he always do the thing? This is why he tried to remain aloof and not talk too much - or he'd say goofy crap like that.
"...You can kick me for that one."
