Deryk winced as Ariane smacked him hard in the back. Furrowing his brow, he rubbed his back, then blinked at her when her somewhat random question came up.
"Er... well... if you're dating, don't think you'd be considered friends anymore? I dunno. ThissortofthingneverhappenedwithmesoIhavenoexperiencewhatsoever..."

"Huh, never thought of it that way... But you know, technically you'll still be friends. Just with benefits," Ariane replied with a grin, nudging Deryk with her elbow when she said 'benefits'. Then, sighing loudly, she shoved him, "You're no help... You must used to be one of those people who preferred to spend time with their computer than with other people, right?"

Deryk furrowed his brow at that.
"uh... I thought.. friends with benefits was if you slept with them... Not.. uh.. dating? Could be wrong. Don't know much about these things," he shrugged. It really made him wonder what brought this up.
"...Yeah. Pretty much. Many interactions were through digital means. And well... never.. dated so.. can't really say. No."

"Yeah well, either way, it'll come with benefits of some sort," Ariane shrugged, turning to face Deryk with one eyebrow raised. Then, slowly, she begun to grin, steepling her fingers, "You know what'll be fun? If we get you a date."

Deryk froze at that, and he immediately looked down towards the muffin in his hands.
"Er... better off looking somewhere else..."
He had strong doubts anyone would really want to date him. It was just a fact of life.

"Look. You're stuck here on this island for the rest of your life. Make the best of it," Ariane rolled her eyes at his reaction, "Just ask someone out... What's there to lose?"
Unless the date was a complete disaster, causing him and his date to be awkward forever because they'll be stuck on the same island forever. It's like high school all over again... If high school is forever.
"Anyway, you, Jude, me. We've gone on a date when we went on that vacation," She seemed to enjoy using that word, mostly just to see him squirm, "One on one with another girl's not going to be a whole lot different, you know?"

"Considering we're all on the same island, it'd make for some awkwardness most likely. If things go badly, it'd make for bad teams too. Tension. Stuff like that... Dunno if that's really a good thing.. You know?" Deryk frowned. Though, he soon tilted his head as Ariane called their little excursion a date.
"....I don't think that's a date. Just a hang out. Dates... aren't they supposed to be.. you know, romantic? That sort of thing? that definitely wasn't that. You have weird definition of dates."

"Fine," Ariane replied, "If you really want to die dateless... Who am I to judge?" Oh, she was so judging you, Deryk.
"Romantic? Really?" She raised an eyebrow, "I've always seen it as two people hanging out and having fun. What's romantic about watching a scary movie and spending all his... Our cash in the arcade? I guess there's the kiss at the end..." Speaking from personal experiences.
