Jove watched the fish intently, this time keeping his hands to himself as they swam past, snorting bubbles as the delicate little not-fish poked his cheek. He tried to stay as still as possible to not startle them though. He watched as the fish came and went, more varieties than he even knew existed. It was absolutely amazing. He never imagined so many things could live under water, it was like a completely different planet down here where gravity's pull was stifled by the water around them. For all the creatures that lived in the forest nearby, there had to be near that many creatures all in this little lake. As he remained still in the water, the weight of his soaked fur and clothes pulled him down at a slow pace, almost unnoticeable as the fish swam around them both, and disappeared. He gave Amphi another look of amazement, and took the offered hand in the most distracted way. For a second he opened his mouth as if to say something, and then he began to cough. The last of the air in his ghostly body rose to the surface in great gouts of bubbles as he choked and gasped, struggling to inhale so deep under the water's surface. Although his grip tightened on the ghoul's hand, he made no attempt to swim back to the surface for a breath of air.

Amphi was almost sure Jove was going to say something when she watched (and felt from the pressure of his hand) the water expel from his body. It was always weird to imagine the switch from air to water for the mermaid, and luckily enough her body did it without the shock of DOING it.
She clutched his hand tight until the pocket of air was gone and then smiled at him. "Are you okay Jove?" The mermaid checked for any signs that the pup would want to return to the surface, when none came she started to tug them down further into the depths...past the small fish and small hills of sand and mud were. Eventually, it got darker and darker and the mermaid had to focus her FEAR so that she could glow somewhat. Only for a little bit of light.
"Ah....I didn't think it would get dark so fast..." The mermaid turned her head around looking anything more to light their watery path.

Jove nodded, and coughed up a couple more bubbles. He was fine, if a bit disgruntled by the whole process. Although he was a dead thing, occasional bits and pieces from his living stuck with him in the worst ways. Like vomiting, and that feeling of choking when his lungs began to fill with water. Or air, he would have to cough it all up once they got back to the surface. Although Amphi had to put some effort into glowing, Jove was a natural little frightlight. His eyes glowed the most, but the rest of his skin seemed unusually pale in the dark water. His ears perked, fur swirling in the water, and then with his usual boldness he took the lead. He might not know where they were going, but he could light the way!

She was extremely grateful that Jove seemed to light up, making the waters around them seem more manageable to swim in. It was like they were a bubble of light. She followed behind him though as he seemed to know what he was doing.
"Oh...." She stopped only when his light glinted off something on the lake bed floor, she brushed the dirt away and started at the buckle of some kind. It was dirty but a pretty silver blue and she held it out to the Wisp. "It's shiny?" Because that meant something right?
Just as she held it out though, something long and slick brushed the fins of her tail and had her scrambling closer to Jove. "Something just-"
It's face was made clear when it slid up to them and did a figure 8 motion. The creature was a....extremely large eel. Eel's were not Amphi's favorite, particularly because they didn't know what boundaries were. It almost seemed to grin at them too.

Oh... Jove wasn't sure if it was treasure, but Amphi was right. It was indeed shiny. He reached for it to have a look, but grabbed her wrist instead when something moved in the dark water. Was this the Big Fish she talked about? It didn't look much like a fish... Jove tugged the mermaid behind him, as though that would make any difference with his small body and lack of underwater maneuverability. It really was a giant... whatever it was. The pup had never seen anything quite like it, long like a snake, but thin, opening and closing it's mouth like it was trying to speak. Was it trying to say something to them?

Amphi was actually quite surprised when Jove put her behind him and held onto his shoulders. Part of it actually would help the wisp from sinking down since she was kicking her fin to keep them afloat.
The eel was in fact talking to them though, about nothing important really. It was just admiring the clothing of the not swimmer and the colors of the mermaid. Amphi made a small sigh and tugged on Jove.
"We should go...." Mostly because the eel was going into a whole tirade of back in his day, they had water students all over the lake. Now not so much since the...wait backpedal...monster creature?
Amphi hesitated as the eel called a small warning before looking at Jove. "We have to really be on the look out now...Because...."
And then she heard it, a large growl and hiss in the shadows around them. And then a light bob of a light that got closer to them.
And showed this:

"IT'S HERE!!!" Okay it was a lot scarier then she thought.

Jove gave the eel a suspicious look, but he didn't appear truly alarmed until a light brighter than himself lit up the water. And then there was suddenly teeth. The pup shoved Amphi backwards, and then bared his own teeth. He probably wouldn't be able to fight such a giant beast all on his own. And submerged at that! But at least he could make sure she got away before he dissipated.

Amphi's own small set of fangs flared at the monster fish as she was shoved behind Jove. With both a mermaid and foxfire, you'd think the fish would be just even a little bit scared but...
Instead it chomped its teeth at the two. And when Amphi turned, holding on to Jove's collar to return, another appeared behind him. Obviously they were dinner now.
"We have to fight to get out..." Amphi hissed as she bopped one of the monsters on the light bulb thing. "You take one and I will take one?" She flushed.Quote: Boss HP: 50/50 The two fish do 5 auto damage!

Nope, that was definitely a hungry tooth-gnashing. Jove was naturally tiny, and even though he was a little predator in his own right he knew when something else had a desire to eat him. And the last thing he wanted was to let both himself and Amphi become a meal!
The fish in front of him darted forward, it's speed catching Jove off guard with it's giant teeth. He had no idea how to fight underwater. All his fluff was just... weighing him down!
Water hissed out of his lungs in a growl, and he reached out with as many ghostly tendrils as he could manage. They stirred the water visibly as he reached towards the giant fish, scratching at it's scales as it swam past.

"Jove!" Amphi didn't have time to reach out and pull the pup away from her as the fishes attacked, headbutting her and attacking Jove.
"J...Jove!" The pup didn't know how to fight underwater and even Amphi had never really involved herself in conflict of sea creatures but now...with no escape...
"Don't...Don't hurt him!" She was talking about them hurting Jove of course as her hand swung out, making a ball of a fist in the fishes head.

Jove's first reaction to Amphi's attack was surprise, why would she do that while he was trying to protect her? But it was clear she was at least on par with the fish in agility, whereas he was reduced to doggy paddling at best. Weren't they both students who had been trained to fight? Whether that was the intent for Amityville students or not, it wasn't like they hadn't been put in this position often enough to get used to it...
He lunged out with his tendrils again, but they were not fast enough and the other fish charged him before he could turn around.

Amphi hissed again as the fish attacked. Even with Jove protecting her, there was two of them. And two of them could easily take out both of them because they were small fries.
"Jove..." The mermaid touched his arm gently, looking at him. "If you get hurt, let me know, and I will heal you okay?"
And then she was back to attacking...sorta.
She whipped her tail around, smacking one fish into the other.

Jove startled slightly at the light touch on his arm, but thankfully it was just Amphi and not something more sinister creeping up behind him. He might have been trying to be a proper gentleman and defend her from the fish, but... secretly he was glad she had his back.
One of the fish made another dart towards them, and Jove lunged out with his tendrils to stab at it. Their sharp-formed points once again skidded harmlessly across scales, only biting into flesh near the giant monster's tail as it rushed him. He could taste the freshly drawn blood in the water as easily as he could have smelled it on land.
He just hoped it was mostly the fish's blood he could taste.

Amphi smirked as she watched Jove's tendrils fly out, striking the fish true. She could tell the beast were weakening though, their movements were slowing and well...
And then she smelt the blood. As much as you could smell blood in water. her eyes darted to Joves and she slid over in front of him, looking for any damage.
"J...Jove are you okay?" her tail blocked the fish from coming closer as she examined the pup, her eyes...trained for medical searched for open wounds. Ghost or not, bleeding was never okay.

Jove shook his head, he was fine. It would take a lot more than what these fish had to do any serious damage, although the lack of maneuverability was not doing him any favours! Although Amphi tried to defend him, she couldn't take on both fish by herself, and he could only float there and wait to be attacked...
He tried to catch his fleeing attacker with his tendrils, but he only caught the tips of it's fins as it darted back into the gloom.
