Tennath and I are adjusting well to life in this new place. There are so many new sights, new smells, new everything to experience. I feel like we can get a fresh start here, where an interest in Ancientcraft isn’t grounds for ostracization.

I responded to a notice requesting assistance to evacuate a tunnel snake today, and it was a feisty little bugger. I did make some excellent observations though, I might transfer the notes and illustrations into this journal from the smaller notebook I had taken with me. I will say this though, tunnelsnakes may be a dangerous creature to have within the Wherhold but no creature is quite so bothersome as the trundlebugs we’ve left behind, nor do they compare to the danger of feral felines.

I’ve been too tired to write every night after training, thus the delay in this entry. Training has gone terribly-I’ve shown only competence in the use of tools, hand-to-hand combat, and (surprisingly) I’m a decent bluff. In short I have failed to impress, although I know I can do better. Speaking of doing better, Tennath is being an utterly miserable companion at the moment. He didn't even get close during Tatath’s Flight, and being beaten by a bronze has simply added insult to injury as he considers himself the faster, more agile flyer. On that note though, I was able to have a pleasant chat with Tatath’s rider Canoake during our first day of training, she’s actually quite attractive so I was less than happy when Tennath lost out too. She seems to be covering something up under that pretty countenance though, nothing sinister of course, but she seemed genuine only a few moments while we spoke. She definitely has an agenda here, although beyond the base desire of getting recognition and power, I have no clue.

I'm nervous now that the time to embark on our mission is here. I keep wondering what will happen after we sabotage the Firestone mines, but I think everything will be fine. I have to prove that I'm valuable around here, after training certainly did not. I'm eager to return to the Southern continent, however briefly I miss the air, the heat, the smells. I never thought I’d be one to pine over familiar surroundings, but I've never felt the same isolation, even at Eastern. One more motivating factor for me to go on this mission. When I decided to come here I thought they were open to all those interested in Ancientcraft, but now that I'm here I've found that access to the labs is barred until you can prove your worth to the Wherhold. So much for encouraging prosperity and a new interest in the craft.

Things are rather chaotic as of late. Well, I've abandoned I've left the wherhold faction

Oh shards, this page will be a complete ruin if I don't just come out and say it. I left Benden. After being freed from Trine, Tennath and I laid low in our weyr. I had overheard some folks at Trine mention a rogue gold and a failed mission to recruit her, apparently she wanted to start up a "weyrhold", a place of equality without the bloodthirst of the wherholds. I spent the next few sevendays trying to seek more information and recoup my strength, sitting in a cage beneath the sun without substantial food and water can really drain a man. I mostly kept to myself and started packing our things back up. Once I had a fairly firm grasp of where the site was Tennath and I took a day trip, feigning a need for drilling in private and searched the vicinity until we found it. When we returned I made the last of our preparations, and stole away during the changing of the watch. I am glad I made no connections at Benden, it may have made leaving difficult (albeit no more so than leaving Eastern). Now we are finally here, it seems to be an odd mix of loyalties and quarters are cramped, but at the very least there aren't plans of sabotage or bloodshed.
