"I tried to talk to him about it. Like... like you did with me." Jerry licked his lips and had kept walking before he realized Jordan had stopped, and paused to turn, looking imploringly at his friend. "He doesn't think it's the same but... .it is and it's dangerous."

Jordan nodded, his mouth pulling down as he thought it over further. He dropped his hand to his side again and looked up to meet Jerry's eyes. "It's dangerous," he agreed. "I'll talk to him about it. Hell." He grimaced. "Going to need extra coffee for that."
He realized he'd stopped and started moving again, frowning worriedly.

"If... if you need any help talking to him about it, I'm willing to you know... be a good testimony. And stuff." He wet his lips as they continued again. "At least it's um. Good to know I'm not the only one with that problem, ahahaha..." Not that it was good to hear about that problem still drifting around at all.

"I'm definitely going to have to corner him on this one," Jordan sighed. "He'll listen to me, but it's going to take some talking. I guess we were about due for another awkward, painful conversation. Every few months, like."

Jerry raised his hands defensively, "I'm just glad it's not about me this time. Rep's a... a good guy deep down. I think he'll listen. Even if it's at gunpoint."

Jordan smiled wryly. "Ferros hasn't had to be part of the discussion process for a while now." He was silent a moment longer, then gave Jerry a serious, sidewise look. "I'm - glad you've seen that. He doesn't exactly like people figuring it out."

"You and he are the closest things I have to best friends," He murmured quietly, finger back in his ear as he worked his jaw to try to pop it. "I guess with Rep I just... I get it. A lot of it. I mean, we're a lot alike just... coming at it from different angles, you know? He's a lot more stubborn, though. You'll have to whip out all your big QED points."

Jordan nodded, smiling a small, wry smile. It hadn't been that long ago that Jerry had objected strenuously to being compared to Rep, but Jordan saw no reason to remind him of that. "I understand that," he said.
At the last sentence, though, he stifled a snicker. "It'll take some convincing."

"Nothing like a good old-fashioned intervention. Just as long as Simon's not involved, I'm sure it'll go... er... as well as it may." The town was creeping up around them, and Jerry's eyes strayed to the school house down the stretch of path. "I know I couldn't have... battled my ah... personal demons without help." At that he glanced back to Jordan with a dry smile.

"Takes a kick in the butt sometimes," Jordan agreed, then, thoughtfully, "I wonder what Allan and Simon were like as trainees."

Jerry hesitated, eyebrows raising, "Gosh, I never even really thought about that..." He mulled it over as they continued, eyeing the houses as they passed, "I imagine very much the same as they are now. Just... more ah..." He struggled to find the word. "Casual Casualties?"

Jordan laughed. "It's hard to imagine, isn't it? Interesting thought, though." He studied the houses as they walked through the town, keeping an eye out for signs of shadowlings or fog-monsters. "On a similar note," he mused, "how long ago was it that this area was populated? What exactly happened?"

"A long time, I imagine. I haven't been able to get too far into that school house- we cleared it of shadowlings, and then cleared it again of fog monsters, but then there were old boobytraps- I have to know how the place got so riddled with them. I mean... when I was a trainee I had IDEAS about what we could do with the place but it's been a never ending battle." He sighed.

"What kind of traps? Is it going to require getting a crew together, research, equipment?" Jordan rubbed at Ferros's ring, clearly already working on a mental list of what they might have to do to get things done. He gave Jerry a sideways smile. "I could really use a project, something hands-on to do, you know?"

"Tell me about it," Jerry half laughed, half sighed before rubbing his neck. "Man... that whole... whatever it was that came over everyone during Valentines day... I really am skinny aren't I." He sighed. "It was like... we turned back and it's hard to look in the mirror after that. I need to... to work out more or something. I mean I already do! I go jogging in the morning and lift weights after training but at most I've gained like... five pounds tops since coming here. No wonder I can't keep a girlfriend."
