"I've noticed," Xiu replied, her voice dry as she stared at the vampire scruntinizingly. Sometimes Lou really surprised her though. Behind the, er, lecherous comments and inappropriate gifts, he seemed to be a little more aware than she had first thought. She really needed to give him the benefit of the doubt sometimes.
...Sometimes.
"Well, you definitely didn't make the best impression on my friends," She pointed out, grimacing as she recalled the prom fiasco, "And considering how that went, I can't blame them. I was pretty irritated at you myself, to be truthful." After all, the vampire had gone for her big brother and her best friend. His next words, however, had her bristling defensively. "What--no, I never--! I'm...I'm definitely really wary around you because your flirtatious nature makes me wary, but you're not a bad person. I didn't think that you'd ever...well, try to jump me." A pause.
"And it's not like I wouldn't try to flip you off and punch you if you tried."
She fell silent at his question, mulling over it for a moment before letting out a breath. "I'm...not afraid, honest. I just have troubles seeing people as anything beyond close friends."

Hah. Not a bad person. Sure. To that, Lou could only grin. He decided to just let the friend subject go. At least for now.
"Well good. I'd hope you would hit me if something like that transpired." Not that he'd ever believed she was helpless. He knew better.
The vampire found it necessary to make himself comfortable, rolling over on his back and crossing one foot over the other. Seemed like it might take awhile to convince her how good of an idea it was to go on a date with him. "I imagine because you don't want to." It wasn't that Lou was trying to read her like a book. More or less, he was just musing, trying to find a scenario that stuck. Like a puzzle. Oh, he did like puzzles. "Are you worried that if it doesn't work out, they might hate you? That you'd lose a friend?" Jack, he felt like he needed a clipboard and glasses now.
Patting the bed, he tried to coax Xiu to sit down. No need for her to be uncomfortable, after all.

Despite herself, the baku found herself grinning, and she gave a little shrug of her shoulders. "Truth to be told, I think I'd do more than just hit you," She admitted, mentally mulling over how different she had become over the past year and a half--almost two years--she had spent here at Amity. To think that she would have once cowered and cried if such an event were to befall her...
...Well, that was most definitely part of the long distant past now.
The scowl returned to her face then, but she obediently sat down, perching ont the very edge of her bed as she turned to stare at him. "I just think it's hard to get out of this mindset, okay? The longer I spend with someone, the more I start thinking of them like a...an older sibling." A pause, "Though I suppose the idea of losing a friend or our relationship becoming awkward if we break up is also something that bothers me and why am I talking to you about this anyways?"

Lou could only be amused by her reply, his own grin shining through. He liked this attitude. It was admirable and... Kinda hot.
But it quickly faded and the vampire put on his listening face. Quite the conundrum she had.
"I'm sure there are a few reasons." Lou smirked as he spoke, folding his arms over his stomach. "I'm a good listener, I'm generally honest about how I feel, I'm genuinely interested in what we're talking about, and maybe you think I can fix your problem." Whether she considered it a problem right now or not. At least consciously.
Without saying a word, the boil scooted just a tad bit closer. It wasn't a swift movement, nor was it concealed. "Lets think about this, now. You can't step over the friend boundary because you see them as siblings, yes?" Lou finally sat up, leaning in to stare into her eyes intensely. "Well then you just have to start a relationship before you get to that point. And who better to test the waters with than the guy who refuses to be friend zoned, hm?" He could've stopped there, but Lou wanted to put the cherry on top of this cake. "I want you. I'm telling you right now, to your face, making no effort to hide it." The vampire's eyes grew wide, the spirals contained within them giving off the optical illusion that they might be spinning. "Seeing me as your brother will just make it incest."
Then he drew back. "You know. I'm not even proposing we go elope tomorrow. I'm just asking for one date. One night. A few measly hours of your time to show you what a date can be like."

Xiu's smile was dry when he mentioned his honesty. Technically speaking, the baku supposed that she couldn't deny that the vampire was a pretty honest individual...tactlessly so, much of the time. Still, she supposed that he wasn't lying when he said that he was a good listener.When he wasn't flirting with everything that had boobs, he could be a pretty good confidante.
That still didn't mean that she was entirely comfortable with talking to him about this, though.
When he shifted closer to her, something snapped at the vampire's leg, the tiny teeth missing and grazing the pant leg. Jian, Xiu's Nightmare Flower, sat in front of the boil, the mini's natural scowl seemed even more pronounced now than usual. Grinning, the baku subtly scooted a little to the side to distance herself.
"That would be hard to do too. After all, I'm not comfortable going out on dates with people I'm not very familiar with eithe--you what?"
Her face burned red as she jumped up and off of the bed, turning to scowl at the boil. "I--no. What. No. ....what?!"

The snap at his legs might've made the boil jump slightly. "Well hello there... Thing..." Dog cat? Some ******** up flipper baby of both? Well, he supposed it didn't matter. Carefully the boil sat up on the bed and reached into his pockets for a little baggie of spookies. Yes, he always kept some spookies around just in case the craving for something sweet struck him. "Here vicious. Want a spookie?" He held it out to the creature carefully with a raised brow.
"Hm? What?" Lou smiled innocently (or as innocently as he could) when the ghoul jumped up and started to blush furiously. She was so cute when she was flustered. Oh, who was he kidding? She was always cute. Like some form of a teacup panda, if such a thing existed.
"You've gotta give a little growing room here. You're not comfortable with going on dates with people you know well, and you're not comfortable with people you don't know well at all, either." He just decided to completely disregard following up on his statement of want. The baku could mull it over in her head all she wanted.
Lou sat quietly in thought for a moment. Only for a moment. "What if I made a deal with you? One where you had everything to gain and I had everything to lose? Would that be enough to satisfy?" His eyes kept trained to the mini for now, not wanting to be surprised by another 'love bite'.

To say that Jian didn't appreciate being called a thing would have probably been an understatement, as the mini let out a low growl while watching the vampire root around in his pockets. The bag of treats caused the Nightmare Flower to perk up slightly, but after a moment of pause, he laid his ears back and stood unmoving, staring up at the vampire with an unimpressed expression.
Tough crowd.
As if trying to calm herself, Xiu reached down to scoop Jian up into her arms, lightly pressing her cheek against the mini as she glanced away from Lou. "I--well, yeah, but--look this isn't really something that has to be addressed right now." She was still young! There was plenty of time to date and all that fun stuff. There was just too much going on right now, was all!
The offer of a deal made her perk up slightly, but the look on her face was very, very wary as she turned to look at the boil. "...I'm not agreeing to anything, but...what is it?"

Tough crowd indeed. Well then, Lou didn't want your company anyways, you little heathen. He'd much rather have your owner's.
"Alright then." The spookies were promptly returned to the boil's pocket as Xiu continued to avoid his prodding of her personal dating life. At the very least, it seemed like he might've had a hook.
The scenario as a whole was a risk to take, but sometimes one had to jump over a few gaps to truly advance forward. Baby steps didn't always work. "You should know by now that I'm a man of my word. At least somewhat. So when I say something, I very firmly mean it." The vampire propped his arms up on his legs, cradling his head as he stared at her fondly. "I propose that if I can't show you a great time by your standards, then... I'll never bother you again." His smile disappeared for a brief moment. He wouldn't have made the proposal if he wasn't very confident he'd come out ahead, but still.
"That way, if I ruin the date, you'll at least have something to look forward to from that point on, yes?"

...How had she gotten herself in this situation again? Xiu couldn't remember, but by the nervous look on her face, it was clear that she wished that life had been provided with a "rewind" button. As it was, there was nothing she could do at this point but go forward...which meant answering his question.
And, in a way, he did have a good point (as he had proven many times over the course of this whole conversation). The first thing that troubled her was when he said that he would "never bother her again" if she went out on a date with him that flopped. Immediately, she held up a hand and scowled, "Wait, do you mean you would never ask me about a date again, or never talk to me again? Because friendship is still always a feasible and welcome answer, you know."
The ghoul sighed then, her shoulders sagging slightly as she slowly pet Jian on the head, "Can you at least let me, er, think about it?"

"Nope, I'll be gone foreverrrrr. I did say you wouldn't friendzone me." Lou used spirit fingers to emphasize his 'forever' point, still smiling like an idiot as if such a thing meant nothing to him. Not that it didn't, really. It would be a disappointing way to end a situation with so much potential, but his word was what he had in his unlife, and he fully intended to keep it true.
Flopping back over, Lou stared up at her with childlike wonder. "Sure. Go right ahead, think about it." And his mouth shut, lips curling inward as if he was sitting on the edge of a cliff anxiously waiting for her answer.
"... Thought about it yet?"

Xiu did not looked amused.
"So you're saying that I have to either date you, or never see you again, even as a platonic friend." Her voice was flat as she spoke, the look in her eyes unimpressed as she turned to stare at him with a raised brow. "Do you set these requirements on everyone that you meet?" Surely not?
She soon found her space promptly invaded by said vampire boil. Puffing out her cheeks, she moved to distance herself and propped her hands up on her hips. "N-no! I need like...a day, minimum! A week!"
Or a year.

"Yeah, that's pretty much it." Lou spoke with a smile, batting his eyelashes at the ghoul. "And no. Only for you. Because you're special." No, really. She was quite special. A delicate flower that had remained untouched by the hands of man for so long. It would almost be romantic if Lou hadn't been the filthy cretin that he was under the good-intentioned oaf.
When she mentioned needing time, Lou gave her a look. A look that said 'oh, don't think I'm not onto you.'
"Soooo you caaan avoid me until I finally stop pestering you? Is that what you think time is going to accomplish?" The boil's lips puckered, shrugging and glancing away. "I've read books-" gasp, he read? What were the chances. "-about creatures who will chase their prey up into a tree and wait under it until either the animal dies or comes down and tries to run away. I'm not saying that has anything to do with this situation but..." He lifted his hands up, glancing at his nails. Hm. Little bit of dirt under the pinkie. He'd have to take care of that. "Does this look like the face of a vampire who throws in the towel at a simple complication?" And he winked. Of course he winked.

Only on her--...why. The baku looked completely puzzled and really quite exasperated as she threw her hands up in the air. This was silly. He was silly. Everything was silly! "Really, Lou, you're being stubborn!" A pause, and then she hastily added, "And I know that I am being stubborn too, but really--what's wrong with friendship?"
Xiu met his look with a puffed out cheek, crossing her arms over her chest as she lifted her brows. "No, I asked for time so that I can think about it. Carefully." Stretching a hand out, she poked the vampire right in the middle of the forehead and scowled at him.
"Think of it as a break to catch your breath rather than 'throwing in the towel', okay?"Sexy Cocaine AHHH SORRY it's been a busy month of midterms, papers, and conventions in Seattle aldfkjasdf ;; <33

Lou sighed as she continued to resist him, though it was obvious he was far from finished. What was wrong with friendship? Everything was wrong with friendship. For him, at least, there was more wrong with it than he realized.
Delicately, he reached up to try and remove that finger from his forehead. His hands were cold, but his touch was gentle. Careful. Thoughtful. "Let me try and explain this to you." The boil's free hand gestured outward, finally thinking of a proper way to convey just how he felt. "Lets say, you have two plates of spookies. The first plate is a flavor that you really have no like or dislike for. This plate is friendship, and it's pretty much on the floor where anyone can reach it. Sure. You could fill up on these spookies with no effort. But high up, on the top shelf behind a barbed wire fence, some rabid beasts, and a mote filled with zombie crocodiles, there's a plate of your favorite kind of spookie. We'll say snickerdoodle for the sake of argument, because that's my favorite." The boil's tone was soft, yet full of amusement as his own silly explanation.
His glance turned away from the imaginary plates of cookies and back to Xiu. "Is it truly so awful of me to not feast from the plate of friendship to ensure that the taste of the snickerdoodles are all the sweeter?" Kaiyumi ):< Stop apologizing you! I would wait forever if I had to. <3

Was this...was this an analogy about spookies? The look that Xiu gave Lou was doubtful, but she said nothing and let him make his argument, chewing on her bottom lip thoughtfully. Well, maybe he was making some sense--and snickerdoodles were his favourites? Duly noted, since she liked knowing what everyone enjoyed eating--there was one thing that stood out to her.
She pointed at him again, this time in a somewhat exasperated manner. "But you're missing the point too, Lou! People--and relationships--can't be compared to spookies! I mean, no one should be put on a pedestal to be won, right? And I'll have you know that I hold my friends in the highest regard!"
