"D-did you see that?"
"I know! The nerve!"
"YOU GONNA TAKE THAT?"
"Certainly not!" She stood up. "One thousand gold!"

She nearly jumped out of her skin as Iris bolted up, not exactly looking happy with her. In fact, she looked absolutely livid! ...This...This was actually kinda fun! She held back a grin behind her hand before straightening herself up as the countdown continued, holding up her hand to declare her intent.
"One thousand two-hundred gold!"
She bowed in respect, giggling mostly to herself, as she turned to Iris to continue this game of theirs. She had to admit, it was definitely going to hurt her pocket at a certain point. But who could put a price on this amount of fun? It was a rush, the back and forth bidding and competition! She could get used to this.
"May the best win."

Rin turned to her, hitting her lip at the sudden jump in the bid itself. This was going to cost her unless she made quite the show. If she wanted to play it that way, she would have to put her money where her mouth is. So much for that nice new dress....She pressed down her skirt as she stood up on her tippie-toes, trying to look as tall and sure of herself as she could.
"Two-thosuand gold"

Yes, yes, the bidding in general had been going slow and all involved in planning it had been hoping for... more. And more they did receive, very rapidly after such an awkward gawking session! Because a bidding war broke out. FD gave his nephew, Roy, a subtle nod in approval for fueling the fires as he had. The dragon himself couldn't believe how quickly the price escalated!
"Two-thousand gold!? I hear two-thousand! Going once, going twice, sold, for two thousand gold!" Now this was the kind of money that would help fund reconstruction. "Please give Ziaram and our bidders your applause, everyone!"
Cue applause. And cue applause dying down. FD then went onto the next bachelor: "Our next bachelor is, 'no stranger to the ladies', is says in his bio, Sain! Give it up for Sain, everyone."

Sain Ladies how about a lovely dinner? Finally it was Sain's turn, and boy was he glad. Any longer and the paladin would have walked out and shoved Ziaram out of the way so he could be bidded on. He was wanting the ladies.
He came out, shirt was gone not long after he got to the location. There was a red rose in his hand, as the ladies could take in his toned body. He had to have some muscle on him for a guy in armor, fighting.
"Hello ladies," He said as smoothly as he can as he smells the rose. "If you are looking for a knight in shining armor, I can be that knight." He gives the rose a light kiss before tossing it into the crowd. "I eagerly await to see which one of you lovely ladies wins me. It will be a day to remember!" After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!

This was SO not something Blythe thought he’d being doing in his entire life. A bachelor’s auction? For fundraising to help rebuild the city? Why should he have to go out of his way, and out of his pocketbook, to fund the city’s reconstruction more than anyone else? Shouldn’t the government be competent enough to take care of all this himself? And yet here the Troubadour was, with intentions to put money towards the cause. And as one might imagine would be the case of someone that charged for healing, Blythe’s finances could let him substitute for Suzie Orman with no one being any the wiser. Yes, I DID just put that sentence in.
Blythe couldn’t help but often wonder upon what his life had become. Here he was in this land, still new to him as it was, having effectively settled into the capital city and joined a mercenary group – a long term and stable commitment and job. And purchasing the time of a bachelor. He wasn’t even INTO guys in that way. Or at least wasn’t aware if he was if it happens to be the case that he is. Stay tuned to the FEF roleplay for more on the development of Blythe’s sexuality, because it’s something the Troubadour has never even had the opportunity to consider or learn about. I DID just put that sentence in, too.
Some things about Blythe may have changed, but others remained in perpetuity with him. While participating in such an event seemed absurd to him and something he’d never imagine doing, his Carcino upbringing, what with his democracy-over-monarchy and capitalism-over-everything ways, was as intact and influential to the young Troubadour as ever; if Blythe was paying for something, he was definitely expecting something in return. Even just helping the reconstruction effort through this was justified to the Troubadour through the line of reasoning that since he was effectively permanently living there due to his work with Abel’s mercenary company, rebuilding the city was rebuilding where he was living, thus benefitting him, and thus worth his time and money. Purchasing a particular bachelor would be similarly justified for him.
A knight by the name of Sain was currently being auctioned, gallivanting and womanizing himself. This one was certainly trying to play the part of a bachelor for sale. But that’s not what caught the Troubadour’s interest. Rather, he realized that this Sain character – and he was known throughout Eyris to indeed be quite a character, indeed - rode a horse in combat, just like Blythe. Except that while Blythe knew how to ride well enough, he’d never received any formal training for riding horses in the context of a skirmish or other type of conflict other than what he’d garnered for himself from firsthand experience. And the Troubadour’s trusty steed, Cesario was originally a farmhand animal – definitely NOT a warhorse. As Blythe rode Cesario for his work, being more adept with horse riding specifically for the context of combat was in his best interest, and Sain could very likely better Blythe in this regard.
Blythe’s mind was made up: getting riding lessons to benefit him in combat was the best thing he'd be able to receive from this event, and Sain was his man: “One thousand gold!” the Troubadour boldly announced.

While the Bachelor Auction was going on, the Hostess Club still served customers their regular drinks and sweets. This particular fundraising event attracted more people than initially thought so the hostesses were working harder than usual to keep everyone happy. Aruna donned her peach colored apron and slithered quickly across the cafe's floor taking then delivering orders.
Unfortunately, the crowds kept her busy during the first few auctions, but now that the other waitresses were getting the hang of all this business the nagini had a chance to slow down. Just in time it seemed as a flirty man took the stage. She examined the brown haired paladin judging his every move. He had the right personality for a job she had in mind. A sly smirk crossed her ruby lips.
"One thousand fifty," she exclaimed from a side of the room as she raised her hand in the air.

"Fifteen hundred." Blythe retorted. How likely was it that many others of the bachelors would be able to provide what Blythe wanted out of this? Better to ensure something now then be uncertain about something else later.

Aruna chuckled at the other bidder's quick reply. "Someone is quite eager," she said playfully. "I bid seventeen hundred gold."

Blythe's face reddened at his competing bidder's commments. "Seems I'm not alone, though," he answered back. He wasn't really sure why he did so. He probably thought he would feel less embarrassed or more in control. "I bid two thousand gold."
As the Hostess Cafe WAS very crowded, he couldn't see much of Aruna, just enough to tell she was an employee at the establishment, possessed striking beauty, and not the one stationed at his table, obviously. Who knows what would've happened had he seen her entire form however, Blythe coming from Magvel after monsters such as Gargoyles, and more specifically, Gorgons had returned to treading its soil.
I smell delicious potential for the future!~

Aruna's small smirk widened. It seemed her opponent was up for a challenge. From her spot across the cafe, or perhaps because she wasn't paying too much attention to his features, the serpentine hostess couldn't see Blythe's rosy cheeks. If she had, this would have been a lot more entertaining. "Two thousand five hundred gold for the Prince Charming," she teased.

How much money was Blythe up for spending, anyway? Maybe it was partly that he didn't want to lose, now, petty as that was. "Three thousand gold."

Hmm. The boy really wanted this bachelor. Aruna started to take into consideration the other men up for auction. Of course her budget also factored into her next decision. Is Sain worth continuing this bidding war over or should she concede in order to win another valuable man?
"Four thousand gold and that's my final offer."

He had the money. But did he dare spend it? Blythe worked hard for the money. So hard for the money. "...Four-thousand... and five." Yes, Blythe is THAT guy. Never play The Price is Right with him.
He'd make more money he had to tell himself before making this bid. And he justified to himself that by paying this gold now, he'd not need to put forward any more to reconstructing the city. He couldn't but feel proud and foolish simultaneously, though.
Honestly, Blythe was sitting on a small fortune that never got spent anyway between his generally frugal lifestyle and borderline-insatiable pursuit for work. One of the very first things Blythe had done upon first coming to Learania, before finding room and board, was setting up a bank account.
