"Your family is split between herds?" It may of been a personal question and Ama's ears fell back towards her head when the words left her mouth simply because she said what she was thinking. Now that they had already come out, she decided to follow it up. "Any particular reason as to why?" She knew that situation was possible, members in her own herd had similar situations. Her guess what that, you belong where you belong and eventually whether lost or guided life leads one down the path they're supposed to take.
For the first time, the mare watched as the other stallion truly smiled. A grin spreading across his features. She could see that it was due to the remembrance of his younger days with his sisters and she couldn't help but smile widely, infected by his own with the joy and passion in his work and within the past. She almost felt like she was there with them as he explained it all and knew one day, she would be looking back over her own time with her sisters, with the same tone and expression he held.
She couldn't help but laugh when he mentioned the hill top. There she was thinking they soared the skies instantly however everyone had to start out small. Her imagination was running away from herself. "That sounds wonderful and like so much fun!" She nodded, eyes glistening. "One day, if you manage to perfect it I'll have to come and try persuade you to let me try it." An inventor or a merchant, he could be either having such a way with words.
"There is nothing wrong with being different. It's probable cause that you were created for something more than normality would allow you to achieve." Her smile moulded in to a small, sweet one. She should know, all her life she had known she was different. She moved closer to give him a playful, gentle nudge on the side of his shoulder.
"Even so, trial and error makes good use of that, right?" Her ears twitched slightly. "Now you know the foundations of your creation, you have the knowledge to know what could be changed and improved on. In the end, it was worth it because the more you try to create this contraption, it can only get better because you know what you're doing this time round and exactly where you need to start."

"My parents came from two different parts of the land. My mother from the hers I grew up in and my father most traveled but his family unit mostly trained together as knights. My great grandfather doesn't so much run a herd as he keeps track of his family. My grandmother, Meyra sticks closer to her parents than she use to, so I'm told. I guess when she raised my aunts and father she was more or less a single parent. My grandmother and grandfather only recently got over what issues they had and settled down with one another as mates." He had never wondered why his family had been split. it just simply was and he'd long ago accepted that that was how things worked. "My father does stay with my mother, though some times he does wander."He gave a warm deep rumbling chuckle. "Some day it will be finished... but for now.. as I have no little ferret or mouse to help me.. I have to enlist my father or mother's rabbit familiars to help me work the more tedious items.... Some times I think it'd be easier if i had those hands two-leggeds have." The nudge made him chuckle once more. It reminded him of walking with his sisters again. "True.. but it'll never be the same as having real wings... Even if I can replicate them as best as I possibly can... They won't move and flex like the real things.. At most they could hold us from a cliff.. but.. the down side is it might be considerably bulky, heavy and take more than one soquili to move.. Hardly practical at all." He was running through the equations and formats of designs in his head as he spoke.

Amaltheia did her best to keep up with his family. Who was in which herd and the conflict and then the make-ups. She think she got the drift of who was where and how he fit in to the split herd life. Knights, that was something that was new to her. "They train to be knights?" That would have been her next question, tradition. Were there two sets of traditions he would have to follow? For now she settled on keeping her focus on the topic at hand and probably would fit tradition in to it later when it deemed itself appropriate. "What sort of training do they have to undergo to reach the status of knight within their herd?"
"Yes one day perhaps you will find your own little companion to help you work, hopefully one with as much creativity and handy work as you have." She smiled at him though and let out a chuckle at his two-legged comment. "I have heard of those, never seen. Apparently they're made up of fat worms?" She tilted her head to one side, picturing something rather unpleasant, than what an actual hand looked like. "Hmm..." She wondered why anyone would want such things but then again, each to their own. If it helped him with his work then it was a desire to keep.
"Someone would have to be really brave to try it from all the way from a cliff top. What if something went wrong? Wouldn't that be dangerous?" Her brows narrowed with concern however, she believed he knew what he was doing and that he seemed like a good person who wouldn't want that for anybody, especially his family.
On the matter of the contraption being bulky. She could see the wings having to be rather large and hard to replicate the feather light of normal bird wings unless he planned on using stray feathers of many birds to replicate the appeal it had. "I can see that sort of weight on your back being highly uncomfortable... I'm sure one day, you will master it and make it your own."

He chuckled some. "Hard to call a small family unit a herd.. but My great grandfather usually trains any who wishes to learn to fight and uphold the honor of others. He trained my grandmother from the time she was a foal, both my great grandparents are sort of adventurous so really about the only think that 'ranks' them as knight would be proving my great grandfather your mental and physical growth.."He walked along, pushing past some bushes that served to hide the inner sanctum of the herd's lands. "Perhaps.. Maybe a little mouse that can work the finer things..." He thought about it some. "Yes.. A mouse would be nice.. with their paws that almost resemble those.. hand... things..." He gave some more thought to the cliff. "I'd test it myself before I let anyone else try it... After all, how could I ask some one else to put faith in something I myself have not tested?" He smiled once more, looking around to see who if anyone was around for them to see. "In time.. perhaps I will and if not.. then it was never meant to be." She had just returned from meeting with Merashik about something important, a conversation with the mare that had brought her mate into life. Now she was resting from the long trip to Albert and Meru's usual area, laying on the ground was better than standing at the moment. She was tiny in size, a small, dainty looking doe that cuddled against her rabbit familiar as she lightly dozed in the sun.

"They sound very wise." She chuckled, ears twitching lightly. It had her thinking about the expectations of such a rank and she felt familiar with the ordeal. It was her path also, to prove such progression within her own herd. "Maybe I'll get to meet them some day. I'd love to hear what advice and wisdom they could share. I too wish to show such progression and hope to achieve a high rank. My physical strength is... Lacking but I somehow manage to make up for that in other areas." She smiled, dipping her head a little shyly at revealing her ambition.
It had only occured to her that ever since they set off, Fetcher hadn't moved... He was still holding on to that decoration like life depended on it. She narrowed her gaze slightly, amazed at how his wings acted as if they had hands. Her eyes soon moved to watch Cad again, as he pushed through the bushes, carefully following his tracks she then looked ahead.
"A mouse companion would be so cute" She let out a gentle laugh, imagining it would take the place of her own companion. It's little head poking out of his mane every so often. "Definitely... I can see a mouse suiting you as a partner in crime." This she nodded at, as she listened to his next statement and whereas she was relieved, she also feared for his own safety. It could either be victory or the death of him and the second option had her frowning at the thought.
So sad. It was a great risk but if he had the determination to do it, then there was no stopping him. In the end she simply nodded in agreement. It was up to him to make that decision;nobody else could make it for him. Her eyes caught sight of a blinding white and at the gleam she had to pull her head back as it hurt the blacks of her eyes. Squinting, she could just make out the figure of another. They must of been in his families home now and she couldn't help but feel the lift in her spirits, eager to meet them.

He flicked his ears forward, a tender smile crossing his maw as he saw his mother snoozing and snuggled with her familiar. Clearing his throat some, he moved forward to greed her, stopping in front of her. He lowered his head down before nudging her cheek lightly with his nose. "Mother, Wake up.. We have company." Pulling his head back some, her moved on to rouse the sleeping rabbit to help him. "Roselyn... Help me wake mother would you?"The little bunny's ear grave a small flick before one eye opened then the other as she rolled and stretched giving a drowsy little yawn. Her yawn stilled midway as he eyes caught sight of the mare behind Cad. Pulling her ears down to cover her face, and huddled around herself in that shy, cutesy sort of way she had about him. Most times it just annoyed Cad but it was usually her first response to strangers. Still, she gave Cad a little nod and nudges the small mare before hopping to her ear and whispering some words.Briallan gave a small yawn though her eyes stayed shut. "Roselyn.. that's not a funny joke.. What would Cad be doing with a girl mm??" She settled back trying to get comfortable enough to dose back off when the familiar scent of her son touched her nose. Opening her eyes, she started to speak. "Honestly Cad.. Why must you goat her into telling such fi......bs..." Her lecture to her son stopped as her eyes saw something green standing behind him. Lifting her head, she peered around her son to the slightly bigger mare. "Why, hello there.." She gave a friendly smile before finally standing and shaking her coat out. It was a good shake to go with the stretch to shake loose the bonds of sleep from her that sent her mane floating about revealing a slight glimpse of a rather large scar on her shoulder before once again the mane fell over it , hiding it from sight.

Standing in wait, Ama watched Cad move in to wake up the other cerynei mare, which their relationship soon became clear. She was his mother. At this she couldn't help but find a goofy grin licking at her lips as the resemblance between them was astonishing. Both had beautifully bright coats however differing in colouration, from blue to tan. The roses in his mothers hair and the decoration he wore (Plus Fetcher) made her think that was one of their traditions. Her own herd had a coming of age ceremony, where they stepped out of their foal skins and in to young adults, she thought on receiving his own it maybe a similar ceremonial aspect of their culture.
Her eyes then fell on the rabbit who's sleep he also disturbed. Chuckling at how adorable she looked when she stretched out, yawned and then shyly tugged on her ears to hide herself away. Perhaps she was scary to the little creature? "Hi there." She mouthed, giving her a sweet smile, eyes then following her curiously as she passed Cad's message over to his mother.
Now apparent what was in Cad's whisper, Ama's eyes were sent directly to the stallion's frame. It didn't seem natural to his mother that he was keeping a young ladies company? She thought it highly unusual, considering he was a handsome cerynei stallion, with quite the way with words. She gave a little giggle, then moved her gaze back to his mother when she stirred awake.
When the other mare looked at her, she bowed her head gently, blushing lightly. "Hello, it's nice to finally meet you..." She felt a little nervous, but offered her an equally friendly smile in return, one of her character flaws that she couldn't seem to shake when meeting someone new;often becoming worse when it was someone of high rank, especially within her own herd. On meeting River, remembering back she must of seemed like a bumbling idiot. Her ears wandered back towards her skull.
Catching sight of the scar when his mothers hair floated around her in the course of the shake, she couldn't help but think they had their own share of battled. She would keep her mouth shut for the time being but it did catch her interest. The only thing to break her thought was the movements of the triffids, who were now struggling and snapping their jaws... Letting out the god awful yowl of hunger knowing there were others nearby to possibly feast on.

He gave a deep rumbling of a chuckle, a sound tat was smooth and warm. "She doesn't jest, mother." He grinned stepping back as she stood and shook her mane out. Standing side by side with his mother he really did dwarf her. She was that delicate petite frame just like his grandmother, even smaller than his rose adorned grandmother. Looking down at the small rabbit, he gave a cheeky smile and wink. She'd been helping him tease his sisters and mother for most of his life. After all.. He'd grown up to look the part of a pretty boy and his sisters had often wondered and asked if he preferred stallions over mares because of how rare he was with a mare, entertaining her company. Roselyn giggled and grinned, hopping over to Cad's leg and patting it fondly before hopping to take her place beside Briallan. Still she played the shy card, hiding behind the small mare's leg and peering around it at the other mare.Briallan Arched a brow at her son. "Telling stories again Cadhla?" She chuckled lightly, stepping around her son to get a better look at the mare. "No need to be shy my dear." She gave the other mare a genuine smile that til in her eyes and softened her facial features even further. Her eyes flicked over the plant like creatures on the other mare and then back to the mare's face. "I'm Briallan. Cad doesn't often bring others home with him and ever more rare is it that he brings home a lady friend."

Amaltheia never knew her nerves often affected her features, other than the obvious shake of her voice but when Briallan pointed it out to her she couldn't help but give a chuckle, now knowing her body language must of reflected them. She could see Cad and his family had a very playful nature and a close bond between them from how they teased one another.
She gave a bow of her head. "Forgive me. This is the first time I've entered another herds territory, I'm fascinated to see how the cerynei traditions here vary from my own herd." She smiled warmly and although she had tried to ignore the triffids loud mouths, she couldn't no longer. They were being very rude and making it hard to hear the other mares speech. "Snappy." She gave wriggle of her rear. "Cut it out, you're being very rude." At the scolding, the triffid growled some then fell quiet. Sulking.
Looking back to the others, she chuckled. "So it appears." She looked to Cad, twisting her head slightly to the side as if to say 'you didn't say anything about how they may react' with a playful look in her eye. If she had of known, she may of fondly teased him too. "What a lovely name Briallan." She looked back to his mother. "I'm Amaltheia." Unfortunately, she wasn't finished introducing yet.
"The creature on Cad's hair decoration is Fetcher." He was seemingly 'eye-balling' the rabbit familiar. "The one on my backside is Snappy and the other two on my head, though they don't say much of anything, are Silent Killer and Flipswitch... Just in case you get too near and try to bite you, you have their names to warn them off." Snappy was the only one she believed would have the cheek to, but with Cad being guarded and saved by their butterfly kin she couldn't be certain that the others would be.

Cad smirked at his mother seeing an opportunity to prod at her further. He rarely let these go by wasted. "Oh... I've only been telling her about how.... short you are." He chuckled that deep rumbling laugh once more. Oh he knew she'd n** him on the hind quarters once he gave her a clear shot for reminding her of her size but it was all in good fun. She never really took any of his teasing to heart. Roselyn's eyes went from the plants on the mare's head to the one in Cad's hair. "I think it likes your hair pin.." She scooted herself out to see it a little better, her ears twitching and causing the rose that adorned her to rustle slightly. Her fluffy tail have a bob in response to her ears, the rose tucked at it's base rustling as well.Briallan gave a nod as every plat like creature was introduced. "Greetings plant-kin." She gave a side ways glance to her son that stopped his chuckling though it wasn't a harsh look she had given. "My dear.. there are more regulars to this herd than there are cerynei.. Apart from my family there is no real other cerynei." It was a mixed herd that her mother had built up. "Our traditions are not so strange, we are a large family even if our blood is not bound to one another. Our foals as they reach adult hood have a small trial, a task to preform before they take their place among the other adults. If they are successful then there is a ceremony where the family of the new adults pass on a symbol of their heritage to show that they have grown into adult hood and can make choices for themselves. It is then that they declare herd or nomad. If herd then they remain with us in the primrose herd. if nomad.. then they leave us but are no less welcome if they return to see their families." She gave a knowing smile at the younger, taller mare as she stepped forward. "Surely that was not what brought you to our lands though?" She looked to her son then he shaking his head gently. " If no? then may I ask what?"

Watching them interact and listening carefully, she switched her glance between them, suppressing a chuckle at Cad's comment, before settling on Briallan whilst she briefed her about the on-goings of her herd. With a smile, she nodded. "Ah!" The fact that it was a mixed herd was something new to her. Whereas the cerynei in her own had partners of different species of soquili, they were inspected and then deemed Honorary members, whereas the majority were of the same kind. "I assumed it was cerynei dominated on first impressions. You see, I come from the Vanaras. We are a cerynei dominated herd and it was my first initial thought that cerynei's came together and lived by the old traditions." It was from lack of meeting others who belonged to herds that had her thinking such, as well as the stories of their ancestors.
"No, it's very interesting." She nodded her head quickly to reinforce her words. She imagined the ceremony as she continued to explain it further and she could see the importance of it, how they must all gather to watch the symbol of heritage be passed on to the next generation, it was a beautiful idea and her smile warmed to mirror her opinion. "That sounds like a wonderful ceremony. I believe we all relate in some way, despite our appearances and subtle differences. It's only few that have made me weary of their kind." The SW's/PW's being the sort she would never meet again if she could avoid it.
She shook her head. She was correct, it wasn't the herd life that had her seeking out help today, in fact she had already introduced the menaces. "I was seeking help... That's when I came across your son, he very generously offered to aid me in my problem. The plant life on my body have a hunger for meat, since I won't allow them to eat small animals, they tend to try their luck with other soquili. Until I find some kind of replacement for meat, I need a way of controlling them so that I can make sure they don't bring harm to those around me or anyone for that matter. I'd never be able to forgive myself if they did." She sighed, dropping her head slightly.
Roselyn had caught Fetchers attention. He was trying to stretch his body out further, like it would somehow allow him to reach her without moving. He couldn't guard her rose pin and Cad's at the same time. With a grunt like noise and some uttered growls of protest he bravely pushed off of his current perch to fly closer to the other. Fluttering about her first before making a secure landing on her head, chewing on a single petal he then squeaked and made a hacking noise. It wasn't tasty but he now believed it to be his second bedding.

He stood back allowing the mares to converse. His attention was now drawn to fetcher and Roselyn. Knowing how timid the little bunny could be, he was preparing for a show of a life time now. Her knew it would only be a matter of time till she spazed and had a freak out session. Roselyn had gone from looking to the tiny critter with interest to shaking where she stood. as he growled in her ear and made hacking noises, she let out a squeal of an injured rabbit and bounced around sporadically. She was shaking and batting at her head trying to be rid of her little rider.Briallan nodded. "I see." She smiled at the young mare. She could only guess how much of a burden life with those things could be. "My mother was a small regular mare and my father a pure blooded cerynei. But I do see your plight. I imagine they can be quite the trouble, can they not?" She chuckled lightly. " Sadly I wouldn't know where to begin.. My mother perhaps with her knowledge of some plants.. but sadly she is not currently here.. She went out on a small mission of diplomacy. When she will be back however, I do not know.. I only returned to see her off."
She stepped back to see her familiar bounding and fussing. It took her much control to not laugh at the spectacle. "It would seem that your little companion has sent Roselyn into a fearful frenzy.." She looked from the little rabbit, shaking her head, to the other mare with an amused look. "She's not so use to such..... forward affections from anyone other than my mate's familiar." She looked around till she saw her son. For the moment, there was nothing they could do to help that she could see, but she also didn't think her mother would be gone for too long and maybe then, the older mare could possibly help. "With my mother gone, I'm looking after the herd along side my father and the other protector.. you see, we have two, one of them is a dear friend to our family. But you're welcome to stay here till she returns."

A small mission of diplomacy? It had her thinking if they were in trouble at all, she tilted her head some. It could just be the case she went to see the other half of his family, or to discuss terms of an alliance. It wasn't her business to ask, she simply nodded her head slowly.
She jumped at the sudden squeal, having been engrossed in listening to Briallan she hadn't noticed Fetcher causing havoc with the other critter. "Fetcher!" She gasped watching as she jumped about and then tried batting him off her head. "Come here!" She called, fearing that she may end up squashing him.
Fetcher continued to hold on making noises of protest as the little paws started batting at him. When it bonked him on the head, he fell off backwards and landed on the ground, making a yowl before his tongue rolled out the side of his mouth. Playing dead. Amaltheia's gaze became one of amusement, not worrying any more as he made a scene and put on such a display. Instead, she joined in with the chuckle.
"Sorry, he can be quite the trouble maker but he won't harm you." She lowered her head to the rabbit. "Not whilst I'm here." She gave Roselyn a smile and a wink, then lifted her head again to look at Cad and Bri as she offered her a place to stay until her mother returned. "Thank you... If you're sure it's not too much trouble, then I would like to accept your offer." She bowed her head in thanks. Even if she had no idea how to help her, it didn't matter, she was grateful for the kindness they had showed and believed within the ordeal the potential of making new friends had presented itself.

Cad had laughed at Roselyn's antics and shaken his head. "A tie down!" He'd become side tracked as he'd been thinking of her plants. His mind was always working and it seemed to happen at the most interesting moments. "Forgive me the randomness.. I was just thinking it'd be easier if you could just tie them closed till you could find some way to keep them from being any more an issue... I'm not sure on the full workings of how to do just that just yet.. but.. If you'll be staying here for a bit, then it would help me get a start..."Roselyn had stopped her bounding about as soon as the little bug had fallen from her rose. Peering at him, she scampered off to hide behind Briallan's hind leg. "Of course dear.. It won't be any trouble at all" She smiled giving Amaltheia a nod of her head. "You may come and go as you please, only the inner most sanctum, the center thicket is off limits. As long as you abide by that then you will be no more trouble than any other soquili passing through our lands."

Amaltheia took note that the central thicket was off limits and smiled at Briallan, assuming that was the same as their nesting grounds. "Of course." She agreed to the terms of the stay and gave a nod. "If there is anything I can do to help out to show you how grateful I am, then please just ask. I'm happy to provide any service to you or the herd that I can during my stay here. Thank you again" Her head twisting to the side with haste when Cad spoke up, her ears twitching lightly at his words.
"A... Tie down?" She wondered where the sudden words had come from and what they were relevant to until he made it clear. He was talking about the triffids and from what he had said, it looked like he was on to something good. A grin spread across her lips. "No, that's a good start to an idea you have there." She looked upwards, thinking how that would work as well. They couldn't be permanently tied down because they would have to eat at some point and she didn't have the ability to untie and tie them down every time but she was certain Cad would come up with some positive solution.
If he could figure out the workings of a glider, then she would be a piece of cake once the structure became clear. She gave a chuckle and turned to Bri. "He is very dedicated to his work. All this time he went quiet he was thinking about another invention."
She moved closer to them and lowered her head to nudge Fetcher with her nose. He didn't move at first until he realised the rabbit wasn't going to show him any more attention, for another shot at that rose pin, he shifted and then took off in to the air again, reverting back to perching on Cad's hair pin. Ama watched him make a home in the rose again before bringing her head back up to look at the stallion.
"With Fetcher on you, you can take a closer look at them if it will help at all."
