Well she had seen the light, just a matter of keeping her reasonable. "Next house then." He led her further in towards the main bulk. "Fine. Cass is back and I'm not dead so-" he gave a shrug "-I'm not depressed anymore. Plus the wedding will happen soon."
A few doors down, and Marcus motioned to another house, this one with broken windows but looking fairly stable.

"Oh? That's excellent news. When did she come back?" Ami asked, considerably happy about the girl's return, if only because it kept Marcus happy. It occurred to her that she probably should've gotten to know Marcus' one true love better, but it never came to fruition. As long as she kept Marcus satiated, Ami didn't care. Less happy Marcus meant more bothersome matters for Ami.
This third house looked considerably more in shape. "Windows aren't too hard to fix. Let's look at the inside?"

A while ago. We mostly have been staying together and trying to to draw a lot of attention to the fact. Though, my mood is a pretty easy give away." Rubbing the back of his neck, Marcus wondered if he should try harder not to be so obvious. A light shove at the door and it creaked open, lock broken and hinges erroded from salt air and time. The floors were solid, and the most damage in the main room was that of a far wall. Other than that a few holes, one wall with some light water damage- "'S not the worst. Salvageable at least." Walking in he gave an exposed support beam and small push. It didn't budge. "Seems like it's still standing. Want to check the rest?"

Ami turned her nose upwards at the creaky door, but it wasn't unfixable. After all, Marcus hadn't had to break it down. That was a massive improvement over the last house.
This one was surprisingly intact. She could even count a few rooms. "Well how about that?" she said, pacing through the rooms. There was an old faucet in the corner. When turned, it at least gave water, if not a bit ... murky. At least it was still working.
It was damaged, broken and probably not worth the effort, but Ami couldn't help it. There was something she liked about it. "No, I think this one is good," she announced, walking back to the room where Marcus stood. "I won't have to put a sign on the door or anything, yes? It's not like people are snapping up house offers ..." She smiled at Marcus. "You'll help me with repairs right? Mister I-fixed-and-fortified-my-own-house-twice." She poked fun at Marcus, but two months from now when the houses were inevitably destroyed again, she probably wouldn't be laughing.

He shrugged. If she was happy, then hey, good for her. "It's a good foundation. Just some body and polish." Stepping to another room he sighed as he found a bathroom. "And it looks like the sewage didn't back up. Wouldn't recommend trying to flush until we can see what the rest looks like." The quip got a snort and hand wave. "You file paperwork, and yeah no worries about anyone looking for houses. And.. for pay." Arms crossed. "If you want me doing fancy work, that'll cost. Basic repairs though?" He smiled. "Yeah, I'll help."

Ami made a face at "sewage back up." Yes, she was very very thankful.
"You mean you won't work for nothing as my slave?" Fake surprise shone on her face, followed by a duh look. "Lucky for you, New York still runs in my veins. I've saved quite a bit of money for this, I don't expect it to come for free."
One last look at Marcus before leaving. "You're sure you don't want me next door?"

He gave her a blank look as Dis began cackling in his head.
"You sure you would want to live next to a newly wed couple that will be doing various activities in their house at anytime they should feel inclined to intimacy?"

"But you'd be living next to a couple doing the same, sweet Marcus," Ami said slyly, hooking her arm around his as they left the room. It wasn't like she was the Virgin Mary anyways. This was just joking though. When faced with the actual situation she panicked ten times out of ten.
She patted his arm and said, "No I think this will do quite nicely. Thank you, as always." A smile crossed her face. "Someday I'll be out of your debt."
