"I've always felt we were here to serve as keepers of the peace, in our way. Like knights in legends. They were created to serve in a troubled time, and bring peace to the lands they fought to protect, and served when there was nothing left to fight. Or so the legends say... perhaps I've read too much about Camelot for my own good. Before I ever was a knight, I mean."
He sighed, tilting his head and looking wistful for a moment. He smiled softly at the thought of it, his past, how much he had idolized what he inevitably became, without ever knowing there had been that deep a connection.
"But I don't believe there is no end to this war. You're right. The Negaverse and Knights are linked. When one corrupts or purifies, they become the other. We are the same, but different forces fuel us. I think it is the Chaos that is the real problem, as it taints them, changes them, the longer they're exposed to it. That's what I'm trying to stop, to find a way to eradicate. Not those that get ensnared by it, not if i have a chance to find a way to purify them."
He ran a hand through his hair, hearing himself getting a little preachy. He had a bad habit of pulling out his soap box at the worst moments.
"I think you will find your focus. Start by defending those that need you, and trying to talk with those on the side of Chaos. Learn who they are, what they do. You'll find that they're not all villainous, that they seem almost normal, and suffer the same hardships as we do. They're still people, they're just... being blinded by this force that is slowly eating at the light inside them, turning them into mindless drones... they lose themselves." He'd lost Lina to it.
"That is the greatest danger. Being drawn in by them. Being corrupted. Beyond any of the fights you might get into, with youma or soldiers, it's their ability to corrupt you that is the most dangerous. We have to remain strong, and find a belief in ourselves that can't be taken from us. The city needs us."
