Walpurgis' head spun around at the noise. He quickly dropped the accumulated supplies, kicking the mop back into his hands. He rushed back towards the store, a shadow flitting in before him.

Genesis peered inside just in time to see the clerk pick up Percy's limp form curiously. She had to go back: she wouldn't let her Pokémon be caught, there was no question about it. But she didn't know Walpurgis well, and this was her first mission with him. She couldn't expect him to endanger himself for a common Purrloin.
"I'll see you back at base," she said in farewell, before crashing into the store with Erebos at her side.

Walpurgis ran into the store, spinning the mop like a quarterstaff in front of him. Running up to the clerk, he delivered a series of strikes to the man's arms, sides and head before sweeping his legs out from under him. He planted the plain end of the mop on the clerk's throat. "Don't move. I don't have to kill you, but I will if it comes down to it."

Genesis was stunned to see Walpurgis follow her in and, not only that, but take out the clerk, too. With the mop, of all things. It was no time to dawdle, however, and she recovered quickly. There was no use hiding now. She scooped Percy over her shoulder and hurriedly grabbed some of the more larger supplies. When Erebos had taken care of the two Growlithes, she took a rope and lashed the items to his back. Just as she finished, the security officer chose to pop his head in.
Erebos' eyes glowed, and before the man could even cry out in surprise, he'd used Rock Tomb to temporarily trap him. The clerk was next.
They'd made too much noise already, and it wouldn't be good to stay there for long. He dashed out ahead, quickly accustoming himself to his new burden and ready to clear the path to get the two Rockets safely into hiding if need be.

Walpurgis lifted the mop slowly off the man's throat, his eyes on him the whole time. "Don't do anything stupid, understand?" The man nodded frantically, and Walpurgis left after Genesis.

When everything seemed clear, Genesis returned to the alley to pick up their goods. There would be officers on the alert now: it would be best that they return to base with what they had and get more later.
They traveled briskly but carefully, leaving no sign or trace of their presence as they wound about the buildings. Before long, they were in safer territory, and almost back to base. Genesis glanced at Walpurgis. Then, so quietly that it seemed to be a whisper of a whisper: "Thank you."

Glancing back at Genesis, Walpurgis shrugged. Figuring the girl didn't want to talk about it, he kept silent. He turned his attention back to the purrloin that had been captured by the clerk. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had seen it before - a feeling that could certainly stem from seeing it around the base. A thought occured to him - the purrloin looked like Satori before she evolved. And the lines...
Walpurgis turned to Genesis. "Hey, what's the story behind that purrloin?"

"Huh? You mean Percy?" Genesis said, surprised by the turn the conversation had taken. It wasn't easy carrying all the goods and keeping the smaller items from falling, and she paused for a bit to readjust everything to leave a hand free. They were nearing the base, and she'd need to swipe her card to get them in.
"I found her stealing from a market. Why?"

Walpurgis shook his head. "No particular reason. Just reminded me of one of Gangrel and Satori's children. They had a purrloin that ran off somewhere."

"Oh?" Genesis raised a brow and sidled up to a concealed door of the base, using the tips of her fingers to get her card through without tipping her load too much.
"I didn't know they had any," she said thoughtfully. Now that Walpurgis had brought it up, she realized Percy did share some traits with his pair. The hearts especially.

"Yes, a rattata and a purrloin. The purrloin ran off one of the first chances it got. We decided to let it do its own thing." He helped steady Genesis' pile with the mop as he spoke.

Genesis chuckled. "Sounds just like her."
Still, what were the chances of the them being related? Purrloins were common Pokémon, after all. Thankfully, the Pokémon in question was soon able to offer her own opinion.
Perseus stirred while Genesis began to pack some of the items in storage, and she blinked blearily awake. She was still draped over her trainer's shoulder, just like the day they had first met, and was positioned so that she had a clear view of anything behind Genesis.
At first, all she saw was a pile of toilet paper, but she quickly recognized the top of Walpurgis' head behind it. It looked like they were back at base: it meant the mission was over now, didn't it? She happily jumped off her perch to greet her old trainer, but suddenly tripped, and was painfully reminded of her most recent battle.

Walpurgis balanced his load on one side of his body, freeing up a hand. With his now free hand, he sent out Satori. "The purrloin can't support itself right now - carry it, please?" Satori growled a reply before looking at the purrloin. Her expression lightened, and she walked over to the injured pokemon and picked it up gingerly in her teeth. The liepard vanished with Perseus, heading into the now-open base.
Walpurgis readjusted the load. "Yeah, I'd guess that was the same purrloin, then. She was uncharacteristically kind."

Perseus pricked her ears at the familiar name, the familiar voice. It felt as if she was transported back in time: a kitten again, and safe with Satori. She enjoyed her new life and the freedom that came with it, but it didn't mean she didn't think of her parents often.
"I missed you," she said simply, her voice quiet with fatigue.
Genesis was glad to hear it, and she smiled at the sight. She never expected any of her Pokémon to be related to Walpurgis' but she didn't dislike the thought.
Soon, her smile faded into a resigned sigh. Most of their items had been placed in storage, and they would legitimately have to start cleaning now. She only hoped there was no flooding...

Satori merely smiled at the purrloin; a loving smile, not a cruel one.

Walpurgis and Genesis exited the bathroom a few hours later. Walpurgis was silent for a while before turning to Genesis. "Let us never speak of what happened in there."
