He smiled at the angel remark, about to playfully retort back when he noticed the blush. Not that mischievous to point out something embarrassing to a new potential friend he instead thanked the other quietly, ears flicking as Hawthorn continued.

"Honestly? It's lonely living in the forest. Rarely does anyone pass by. Also... I like to cook and found a job at a nice restaurant. I decided to move closer because of that." He did miss home time to time, but the male enjoyed company, even if it was only customers who only knew the food he cooked. Even if he never had a true friend. He only needed one person to be by his side, and since the forest never gave it to him he was content seeking it within the city.

As Hawthorn asked his last question he wasn't sure what the question was, ear flicking as he decided it must be about the drawing. A smile crossed his face as he saw the drawing, letting out a gentle sound of awe.

"Woah. You're a lot better than I am. It's very well done." He sounded sincere, wings flickering as he viewed the drawing. "I bet you could make a living off of your drawings."

Hawthorn nodded, easily understanding Demi's words. "I could see how you could get lonely. I'm not even sure I'd want to stay in my friend's house once he leaves." He shrugged as if to show his indecisiveness while lifting one side of his mouth. "But it sounds like you've found a good place. A city is really busy, right? I bet your restuarant is packed with customers." Hawthorn said with a self-assured smile. "Especially if you're a good cook. I have a feeling you are."

His smile faultered as he wondered if he was speaking too much. Instead of berrating himself more, Hawthorn lifted up his sketch for Demi to view better. Under his breath he mummbled things about it "just being a sketch" but stopped when Demi made a noise. Hawthorn looked up to see the male smile, causing his own cheeks to flush again.

"T-thank you," Hawthorn said bashfully. "I've never really thought much about selling any drawings. Mostly I just survey the land for people... Well, make maps." He shrugged again, obviously not pleased with the job he currently held.

Hawthorn turned back to the flower, making a few written notes beside the drawing, before addressing Demi again. "So, uh, is there anything you can tell me about this flower? It's fine if you can't. I'll just write what I can observe." Gingerly he moved forward toward the flower's center and inhaled through his nose. "Like it's smell..." His smile was bright and content as he wrote down some odd descriptive words.

He smirked back towards the male, shrugging as his shoulders cracked and wings fluttered. "I hope I'm a good cook. I haven't been fired yet~ But I've never really had someone compliment my work. You know, like in the movies where someone sends their compliments to the chef? That's my dream. That and opening my own restaurant." He chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of his head. Maybe he was a simple man, but he knew what he wanted.

The males blush caused his wings to twitch, another soft smile crossing his features. Hawthorn was adorable, though by the blush he doubted many complimented the males work! Hell, he would every day if he could. Demi could barely drop a stick figure... Okay maybe he wasn't that bad, but he certainly wasn't anywhere near as good as the other.

The other seemed to not like his job if the tone was anything to go by. Frowning lightly, Demi wished he could help. He firmly believed in only working at what you love, though that wasn't always an option.

"Why not try it out? I'm sure it'd be more fun than your other job, and I always believed people should actually love their jobs." Eyes flicking towards the plant he grimaced slightly, completely unsure what to even say about the plant. When Hawthorn approached the flower and sniffed it he tilted his head, wings fluttering. The smile that followed was really cute... Honestly...

"I'm not that good with flowers. Unless they're used for cooking... When I lived here I saw a bunch of these by rivers and ponds... I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a help." He couldn't help now, but if he could just go to the library. Hrm. The only help he could give was tell descriptive details of what Hawthorn could have seen with his eyes... Deities he was useless at the moment.

"That's all right," Hawthorn said while taking note of what Demi had mentioned. Hawthorn's paws were now idle as he was quickly running out of things to take note of. He continued to stare at the flower, though, as his blush faded away. "Well, I guess I could make a few prints to sell at the market next week." Hawthorn outlined the drawing more, doodling without messing up the page of information, before finally turning to face Demi. He beamed at his friend, wishing to encourage him back. "And I'm sure some day soon you'll get a 'compliment to the chef.' I got to admit, I'm a bit curious about your cooking now."

Hawthorn put his book away, sighing a bit as he did so. He was silently disappointed that Demi was not able to give him more information about the flower. That is, until he had a thought. "Why don't you show me a river or pond? One near by, if possible. Then I can take note of the plant's usual enviroment and maybe take a sample." His tail started to wag with anticipation and his ears perked to attention. Hawthorn looked almost like a playful kit eager for the next part of a journey.

"I hope you're right!" The male chirped back as he awaited the other to finish. He was disappointed that he couldn't be of more assistance, but it was amusing to watch an artist at work. The expressions made caused a faint flicker of amusement as he realized his own while cooking resembled the males when drawing. Slightly. Demi scowled more instead, as if angry at his food when cooking. It seemed very unlike the kind male but he simply couldn't help it that his concentration expression was one of anger.

At the males question he flicked his ears, standing up and brushing himself off. Scanning the area quickly, he already knew how to arrive to the nearest pond. He believed. It had been awhile and they weren't in the sky, but he should be able to get Hawthorn to his desired destination.

"Sure can. Would you like to walk or fly?"

Hawthorn shifted uncomfortably while he debated the options. He really did not like flying. Ever since he was a kit things had gone wrong when he was up in the air. Monsters harassed him, tearing at his wings. Then again, he had only ever flown alone while he learned.

Hawthorn glanced at the sky and then at Demi. He chewed at his lip. His new friend had so far provided great comfort. So far no new horrendous creatures had come to torment them. Perhaps flying with Demi beside him would be safe.

"... A-All right," Hawthorn said tentatively. He smiled his meek smile, feeling nervous but sure. "We can fly but, um, go slow?" Hawthorn found himself almost eager to get up in the sky. He enjoyed the perspective of the world from above, what few glimpses he got, but had denied himself such joys from fear.

"Of course. It'd be rude to jet off without you." He noticed the other males worry, his ears flipping slightly. Ah, was the male scared of flying? Why? Wasn't he a demonic? Then again, Demi never judged others by their species. Just because the other had wings didn't mean he had to like using them.... And now he felt like a jerk.

"Oh, we don't have to if you're uncomfortable. I'm sorry, I didn't think that maybe you'd be nervous. Are you sure it's alright?" Concern for his new friend touched his features, but for a new reason. When he flopped down first there was a monster. What if another attacked while they were in midair? Well, then Demi would need to kick some a**. He wasn't letting this male be beat around while Demi was here.

Hawthorn shook his head slowly but adamantly. "No, it's fine... I think." He looked at Demi with a smile that was both unsure and resolute at the same time. "I want to give flying a chance. I think I can, if you're beside me." He felt a bit curious as to why Demi made him feel so comfortable, but the other male did. Hawthorn figured he could ponder on that thought more later.

"I might be a bit clumsy about it, though," he admitted with a soft shrug. "It's been a while since I've flown." Hawthorn's eyes turned skyward, eyeing the holes in the canopy. "Is it a good flying day?" he asked offhandedly while trying to gauge for himself.

That was what he wanted to hear. He could help the other, if Hawthorn needed it. His wings fluttered in response, eyes flicking to view the sky. It was slightly breezy, enough to help aid flying rather than hinder. Perhaps Hawthorn could use this to his benefit and rely more on the wind than his own wings.

"The wind is useful today. You can let it guide you." He offered a good natured smile towards Hawthorn, though a tad amused. Why ever would Hawthorn avoid flying when it was such a beautiful gift? Perhaps he was scared? Demi would need to keep an eye on Hawthorn, and gently assure the other not to fear anything if an incident happened. He'd also need to keep an eye out for those monsters.... like hell he was letting one harm his new friend.

"Clumsy is fine, I'll catch you if you fall."

The wings on Hawthorn's back extended hesitantly and fluttered as if waking up from a long slumber. The demonic turned his head to look at his wings. He wondered if they would still be able to lift him up for long enough. Hawthorn hadn't completely neglected his wings but fluttering them once in a while might not have kept them strong.

He thought about falling and his wings folded back to his sides. Never mind monsters, falling was scary. Hawthorn turned to tell Demi he had changed his mind when he finally saw the other's warm smile. That was right, Hawthorn thought while his wings unfurled again, he said he'd catch me.

"We'd better get on our way." Hawthorn flapped his wings once, twice, and with the third time was aloft the ground. He had not a fur touching the grass. His heart pounded with apprehension, but he refused to listen to it. I can do it. He waited a foot above for his companion to join him. "Le-lead the way."

Concern touched his face as he witnessed the others hesitation. That was no good. If the male hesitated in the sky he could be send plummeting to the ground. No, he wouldn't, because Demi was here. He would not allow the other to fall. A smile approached his features when Hawthorn overcame his mental turmoil enough to lift off the ground.

"Of course." With a friendly grin and gracefully kick off into the air, the male did a playful spiral as he ascended. Waiting for the other briefly, he jerked his head to the side and fluttered higher, indicating for the other to follow him.

"If you get nervous, or something bad happens just let me know."

Watching Demi lift into the air was awe-inspiring to Hawthorn. It made Hawthorn a little jealous. He was sure he looked awkward and unsure. Demi's playful ascension, however, brought a smile to Hawthorn's face. Of course Demi would look good, he was obviously very comfortable flying.

"I'll try to," Hawthorn replied to Demi's request. He wasn't sure how well he'd do in a scary situation. Hawthorn was used to keeping his thoughts to himself or his family. Would he be able to remember to stay in contact with Demi when his nerves become too much?

Hawthorn shook himself out of his head. Noticing how much higher Demi was he calmly gained altitude, keeping his eye on Demi. It was easier with a target to aim for. Once Hawthorn was at the same level as Demi he smiled. The view was already so different from the ground, it was amazing! "This is nice, actually. Perhaps I... should practice flying again?"

The males first response worried Demi. He'd need to keep his eyes on Hawthorn as much as possible, it seemed the male was unsure if he'd have the ability to warn Demi. That was fine, the male would simply need to be more observant and focus on both finding the pond and the male. Which, again, wasn't too hard, Hawthorn wasn't bad to look at. It wouldn't be horrible to watch the male.

A laugh escaped him as Hawthorn seemed not only able to fly up but even excited. His tail flicked gently, an eyebrow raising playfully. "Isn't it wonderful?"

With a slight chuckle, the male began to move, though slowly at first. There was no rush, and the area they needed was not far at all. Besides, it'd probably be a horrible idea to try and race Hawthorn to their location when the male hadn't flown in so long. Maybe next time?

If there was a next time, of course.

Hawthorn nodded his head exuberantly. "It's really beautiful up here," Hawthorn remarked with awe. His gaze swept the area, basking in the sun's unperturbed warmth. He finally turned back to Demi was the widest smile on his face before realizing the other had started moving already.

"I don't remember flying being this.. fun?" Hawthorn said once he caught up to Demi. He began to look pensive as he thought about it. "I think I was scared of getting hurt...or maybe it was just general anxiety which allowed my thoughts to create..." Hawthorn shook his head roughly and forced himself to stop talking. "Well, either way it doesn't matter."

"I feel happy and... safe this time," Hawthorn stated with a soft and true smile. "You have a very calming presence, Demi."

A soft laugh escaped Demi as he tilted his head back, offering a smile that seemed more comforting than amused by the others words. It was sad, almost, that the male had forgotten the joy of flying. Hawthorn had been blessed with wings, and yet he had stopped using them. Like a bird with clipped wings.

"Do I?" He questioned, noting that genuine smile from the other with his own. Ah, what a cute sight. He turned back to navigating the other towards their designation, tail flicking every so often to help him turn when needed. What a shame it would be if, after all of this, Hawthorn never flew again. He couldn't consciously allow that. Not after seeing that smile.

"Perhaps I could persuade you to fly sometime, again?" He questioned smoothly, tilting his head so one eye could view the male. Again would mean they'd meet once more, and he hoped it would be accepted. The other was interesting, and even.... cute? Was it weird to call another male you barely knew that? Well... not like he was about to let Hawthorn know about that.
