And who didn't like friends, too ? She grinned, quite happy with what her mother told her. "Well, it would be boring if people knew exactly what was going to happen, no ?" Caelia certainly thought so.

"What are the other numbers like ? What other ways are there, mommy ?"

The concept of predicting - or hinting at - the future had Caelia's full attention. But then, she was Augury, after all.

"it would be very boring indeed." She said with a smile. "Divination can give options, help people who are conflicted decide which path to take. You will find this Cae. The numbers are all divverent and infinate, there are many combinations, each with its own personality. You can use cards to read them, sticks and paper, you can even make combinations of numbers using names and special dates. When I look at them they tell me things ... do you ever get that feeling, that something is giving you a message. The birds perhaps?" She raised an eyebrow and smiled.

"When you were talking with the gold person in the library. 'Bout Soto." She remembered. "I saw a birdie out the window... And I just had a feeling that wherever he is, he's okay ?"

Cosine watched her daughter with a smile as the put her thinking face on. It was cute, though she did have very thoughtful children there always seemed to be something going on inside thier heads.
"Glaucon, yes, I remember that." She nodded as Caelia repeated what she had seen. "Yes, that is very similar. I can get messages from numbers and you, you can get them from the birds." She pointed up to the sky where the seaguls were circling.

...

...

"They tell me..." She hesitated. It was not exactly as easy as her mama made it look ! "They tell me that there's always many things to consider. And that there are teachers nearby." She laughed. "Is that why you choose this place, mama ?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:23 am

Cosine smiled as she listened to the gulls.
"Well, sort of, I am hoping that the teachers will come here and fill the halls. I chose this place because it's beautiful. You can hear the sea, and the wind blows through the trees, it's peaceful. The perfect place to consider things don't you think?"

"It's pretty. I like it." Her opinion was the most important thing, of course. "They'll come. Just have to let them know it's here, yeah ? That's what the birdies are telling me now."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 03, 2013 10:31 am

"Oh yes." Cosine laughed a little at that. Of course, she was a teacher, she hadn't thought about that. "Yes, once it is built I will let people know. And I will have small shrines for you, Kyrie, Isidore and your father. So passers by might worship you all too."

It was a sign that the sudden calm and wise thoughts was fleeting, and that the questions would start again. "What's a shrine ? Worship ?" These were not things Caelia had worried much about yet. For good cause - she was much too busy learning and playing, after all.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 03, 2013 12:32 pm

Well now, they were not easy questions to answer.
"Let's take a seat." She held her hand out to her daughter once more and led her over to what was a low wall, one day it would be higher but for now it was perfect for perching on. She helped Cae up and then sat herself.
"Well, we are gods and we exist because people believe in us. Worship is where people come and they talk to a god, ask them for help, or even as simple as believing in us. Every mortal that believes in us makes us stronger. They help us grow."

Uh. Didn't she exist because mommy loved daddy very, very much ? At least it what she had gathered so far. "So mortals come ask us for things ?" She blinked. "But we need them, too ?" To grow.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 05, 2013 1:25 pm

"Oh yes of course we need them. They help us realise many things. For example ... people who are interested in number make lots of discoveries and come up with many ideas for how to use numbers to make life easier. I don't have time to do all that. But I can help them."

What could she help mortals figure out, though ? Caelia would look up to the seagulls with a curious look on her eyes, as if she expected the birdies to answers her. Maybe it was something she had to figure out on her own.

"Why are mortals mortal, though ?" She would pause. "Why do they die ? Wouldn't it be easier if they just lived forever ?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:52 pm

Cosine laughed and reached out to tap her daughter on the nose.
"Oh you and your difficult questions. Your father is much better than I am when it comes to questions of mortality. I think, mortals are mortal because if everyone was immortal then the world would be overrun with us all. We're immortal because we are gods, we are special." She gave a warm smile. "Don't try and find all the answers to life and death now. You're young, you have centuries to figure these things out."

Whatever that actually meant.

"What's a century ?" A lighter-hearted question, at least.
